Izzone receives high recognition from national college basketball analyst

The Izzone has been recognized as one of the top student sections in the country

Michigan State basketball’s Izzone has been recognized as one of the top student sections in the country.

College basketball analyst Andy Katz released a ranking for the top student sections in the country, and to no surprise the Izzone was near the top of the list. Michigan State’s well-known student section was listed at No. 4 in the rankings, behind only Duke (No. 1), Purdue (No. 2) and Kansas (No. 3).

WATCH: Tom Izzo addresses Izzone Alumni after Michigan State basketball win over Penn State

It was a big night for Michigan State basketball as they took out Penn State by 31 at home. It should probably be no surprise that the Spartans won by a large margin, as this was the Izzone Alumni reunion game, and a crew of former Izzone members were in attendance to support their team.

After the game, Tom Izzo addressed the Izzone Alumni with a cool message. You can watch it below:

Michigan State basketball to showcase new tradition with students

The Izzone will have a new pregame tradition

There will be something new inside of the Breslin Center this season when the Spartans take the home floor in 2022-23.

Traditionally, the Spartans student section dubbed the Izzone, used to sway side to side in locked arms while the MSU starters were announced. That tradition will change.

At Midnight Madness, Tom Izzo announced to the crowd that the Izzone will be changing that tradition. The student section will now be using flashlights to help introduce the Spartan starters.
