LSU could be an option for this 2025 four-star legacy offensive lineman

After several trips during the spring and summer, Brett Bordelon could be the next to follow in his family’s footsteps and join the Tigers.

The Tigers are one of several SEC (or soon-to-be SEC) teams in the mix for one of the top underclassmen prospects from the state of Louisiana. But beyond the benefits of in-state recruiting, they have a leg up as 2025 New Orleans interior lineman [autotag]Brett Bordelon[/autotag] is an LSU legacy.

Bordelon took trips this summer to visit the Tigers in addition to Texas, Alabama and Georgia, per On3’s Sam Spiegelman.

His father, Ben, was a standout offensive lineman in Baton Rouge in the 1990s, and his brother, Bo, was a three-star signee in the 2023 class. Brett is entering his sophomore season at Isidore Newman School where he is teammates with No. 1 2023 prospect [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag], and he has the potential to be an elite prospect.

Bordelon’s signing day is a long way off, and most recruiting sites haven’t released rankings for the 2025 class. On3, however, lists him as a four-star recruit. For what it’s worth, the Tigers, who offered him back in December after his freshman season, currently hold a 99.9% prediction for Bordelon’s services per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

LSU would seem like a logical choice, but Spiegelman reports that the younger Bordelon is expected “explore his options a bit more” than his brother — who pledged to the Tigers 12 days after receiving an offer last January. Still, Spiegelman likes LSU’s chances.

A lot could change between now and Bordelon’s graduation in 2025, but coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] seems to be in a good position to land a player who could see his stock rise quite a bit over the next couple of years.

BREAKING: No. 1 prospect Arch Manning has made his college decision

Manning committed to the Texas Longhorns on Thursday.

The [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag] sweepstakes has finally come to an end.

On Thursday, the No. 1 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class announced his commitment to Texas over Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida and others. Manning — the grandson of Archie Manning, son of Cooper and nephew of recently retired stars Eli and Peyton — is one of the best quarterback prospects of all time, earning the highest possible rating on the 247Sports Composite.

The Tigers were one of many teams very actively involved in Manning’s recruitment, and they hoped to contend for the product of the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. However, it became clear in recent months that LSU was behind a number of teams on his list, and coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] began looking elsewhere for a 2023 signal-caller.

He’ll be joining a quarterback room in Austin that suddenly looks very crowded. The Longhorns landed 2021’s top quarterback and No. 1 prospect, Quinn Ewers, in the transfer portal from Ohio State. The two could be set for a showdown next offseason, depending on how Ewers performs this season.

After his father, grandfather and uncles all committed to and played for SEC programs, Manning has bucked that trend. That is until Texas joins the conference, which will happen at some point while he’s in Austin.

WATCH: Arch Manning impresses at LSU 7v7 camp

Manning showed off his skills on campus this weekend.

On June 10, LSU held a 7v7 tournament with several local high schools. Among the many teams, there was one that everyone at camp had their eye on, mainly because of its star quarterback.

The Newman Greenies made an appearance, led by the No. 1 player in the country, [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag]. A five-star, 6-foot-4, 215-pound passer, Manning is the most desired target in this cycle for a number of teams.

He showed why he is the best player in the country to everyone in attendance as he threw darts and dimes all day to his teammates. LSU is considered a long shot to land the talented signal-caller, but there’s always a chance.

Here were some of the best clips that made the rounds on Twitter of Manning’s performance.

Top 2023 quarterback Arch Manning sets a trio of June official visits

Manning will be taking trips to the three schools that many analysts view as his top choices.

The recruitment process for the most anticipated player in the 2023 recruiting class continues to draw closer to its conclusion.

Five-star quarterback [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag], the No. 1 recruit in the country and nephew of former NFL greats Peyton and Eli (as well as the grandson of Archie), has set three of his five official visits, all of which will take place during the month of June.

Manning will be heading to Athens to visit Georgia during the first weekend of June, and he’ll go to Alabama and Texas the following two weekends. He’s taken several unofficial visits to each of those schools, and they seem to be emerging as the frontrunners.

However, LSU is among a litany of teams hoping to secure one of the final two visits. Manning plays high school ball right in the Tigers’ backyard at the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, and coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has been heavily involved in his recruiting process.

Still, it seems that LSU is starting to fall behind in the race for Manning and has understandably turned its attention elsewhere. The Tigers have recently picked up steam with a pair of five-star prospects in [autotag]Dante Moore[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaden Rashada[/autotag], making the top 7 for the latter.

LSU legacy and in-state prospect [autotag]Eli Holstein[/autotag], a four-star, also remains a possibility, though the Crimson Tide seems to have the momentum right now — a dynamic that could obviously change depending on what Manning chooses to do.

For now, there seems to be a clear line between Manning’s top-three and the rest of the schools competing for him. LSU is on the wrong side of that line, and it’s likely going to continue to focus on its numerous backup plans.

Arch Manning watch: ESPN updates recruitment process for five-star quarterback

Manning is in no rush to make a commitment, his coach told ESPN.

There are a lot of prospects that coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers would be pleased to land in the 2023 recruiting cycle, but there’s one player in particular that everyone wants right now: quarterback [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag].

He’s a member of the Manning family, the basic equivalent to the royal family of football, which has produced one Hall of Fame quarterback in Peyton Manning and a likely second in Eli Manning. Now, Arch — the son of Cooper, Eli and Peyton’s brother — could be the next up.

He’s a five-star recruit in the 2023 class and the No. 1 overall prospect in the nation, quite an accomplishment for a quarterback. And to make things even more intriguing, he hails from the biggest city in LSU’s recruiting footprint, New Orleans.

Arch plays for the Isidore Newman School, where both of his uncles played high school ball, and the in-state Tigers are at least one school on his radar. He has already taken visits to Georgia, Alabama and Texas, and he still plans to take trips to LSU, Ole Miss and Florida, according to his coach, Nelson Stewart.

“I think he’s still very open, but he said he wants to go to practices and sit in meetings,” Stewart said, according to ESPN. “He really is a meat and potatoes kid, he wants to go see the schools, he’s not about the fluff. I think he’s pretty locked in with what he wants to do, but he’s not one of those guys that’s going to announce a list or anything.

“He’s being really thorough. He’s going to get through this round and see where it is. He definitely doesn’t have a timeline.”

It sounds like the schools contending for Arch may have to wait a while to figure out where the talented passer will be continuing his playing career, but it seems the Tigers are squarely in the mix.

The top priority will now be to secure a date to get him on campus, where Kelly and the staff will try to keep him from leaving for a top program outside the state of Louisiana.
