Titans take Kenneth Murray in Bleacher Report’s 2020 NFL re-draft

The Titans would take just about anyone other than Wilson at this point.

[jwplayer qmAj8VUn]

After the 2020 season, it’s safe to say that the Tennessee Titans would take a re-do on their first-round pick, which of course was offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson out of Georgia.

Wilson wasn’t a popular pick to begin with, at least among Titans fans, and he didn’t help general manager Jon Robinson’s cause with his depressing rookie season.

Wilson had multiple run-ins with the law, multiple COVID-19 list trips, a suspension, and his season ended on the Non-Football Illness list. In total, he played just four snaps, and to say his future is murky at best right now would be an understatement. At this point, the Titans might take anyone other than the guy they drafted if they could do it again.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox recently did a 2020 NFL re-draft, and he pegged Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Kenneth Murray to Tennessee at pick No. 29. Here’s some of what he had to say about the pick:

Instead of going with a player they know won’t see the field, Tennessee grabs former Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. A versatile sideline-to-sideline player, Murray shined for the Los Angeles Chargers, finishing with 107 tackles, a sack and three passes defended.

By adding Murray, Tennessee could have strengthened its 19th-ranked run defense. That unit was gashed for 236 rushing yards in a wild-card loss to the Ravens, ending a promising campaign.

Murray was taken by the Chargers six picks before the Titans took Wilson, but he falls in Knox’s re-draft.

Murray played all 16 games and 93 percent of snaps, finishing with a team-leading 107 tackles, one sack, three passes defensed and five tackles for loss.

At the time of the draft, taking an inside linebacker wouldn’t have made much sense for the Titans, as they had both Jayon Brown and Rashaan Evans locked into the starting spots, with David Long as the backup.

However, as we saw, Brown ended up missing the rest of the 2020 campaign after 10 games, which necessitated Long, who was quite effective, filling his spot. Also, we saw the regression of Evans, who was a penalty machine and didn’t play as good as he did in 2019.

One way or the other, Murray would have seen the field, whether it was in place of an injured Brown or an ineffective Evans.

Furthermore, Murray would have become the future at the position sooner rather than later in Tennessee, with Brown set to hit free agency in 2021 and Evans possibly having just one more year on his contract should the Titans decline his fifth-year option.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but in this instance it’s crystal clear that the Titans would rather have Murray, or really, almost anyone other than Wilson.

Bleacher Report gives Titans’ 2020 draft class a surprising grade

The Titans’ 2020 draft class was disappointing to say the least.

[jwplayer qmAj8VUn]

One of the biggest disappointments birthed from the Tennessee Titans’ 2020 season was the lack of production they got from their most recent draft class.

First-round pick, Isaiah Wilson, was an absolute disaster and played just four snaps all season long. Second-round pick, Kristian Fulton, and third-round pick, Darrynton Evans, both battled injury and played sparingly.

Fifth-round pick Larrell Murchison was able to stay healthy but made very little noise, and only one of the team’s seventh-round picks, Chris Jackson, is still on the team.

Despite all that, Bleacher Report’s Chris Roling gave Tennessee’s 2020 draft class a “C” grade. Here’s what he had to say:

The Tennessee Titans got effectively nothing from first-round offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson after he made multiple trips to the COVID-19/reserve list and committed a violation of team rules.

Kristian Fulton didn’t play many snaps, either. Nor did Darrynton Evans or the rest. Seventh-round rookie Chris Jackson playing the most snaps of any rookie at 21.4 percent says it all about Tennessee’s draft class.

So, too, does the fact the Titans couldn’t get Wilson on the field despite starting tackle Taylor Lewan sitting on injured reserve.

There’s still hope Fulton can realize some potential after playing in just six games, and Wilson himself has a high ceiling based on college tape and athleticism. But the immediate results are bad, and the future is cloudy.

Grade: C

If we’re basing the grade on first-year production alone, the Titans get a big fat “F”. If we’re basing it on solely or also on potential, the grade gets a bit higher.

Of course, Wilson looks like a lost cause at this point, but there is still hope for the rest of picks. Evans and Fulton in particular both flashed at certain points this season, as Fulton notched a sack and an interception, and Evans looked electric in Tennessee’s Week 15 win over the Detroit Lions.

Moving forward, the Titans will hope things turn around for the 2020 class and that it can eventually make the kind of impact the 2019 one has.

Report: Titans’ Isaiah Wilson spotted partying in recent video

Titans OT Isaiah Wilson is currently on the Non-Football Illness list.

Normally you wouldn’t begrudge a young man for having some fun, but in the case of Tennessee Titans offensive tackle and 2020 first-round pick, Isaiah Wilson, it’s a different story.

Wilson has run into a myriad of issues in his rookie season, has played just four snaps and is currently on the Non-Football Illness list while he deals with what has been described as “personal issues” by the team.

However, that apparently didn’t stop Wilson from having some fun recently.

According to Buck Reising of A to Z Sports Nashville, the rookie was spotted on video partying (Reising provides the video in his report), which appears to have occurred sometime in the last few days.

Per Reising:

Stop me if you have read this before: Tennessee Titans (10-5) rookie Isaiah Wilson has been an abject disaster this year. New video evidence of the right tackle partying over New Year’s weekend serves as the latest in a long list of ills.

Wilson was recorded on the Instagram Story of Omar Thompson, owner and CEO of OSA Group Miami. The rookie is identified by his panda chain necklace, nose ring and tinted red hair style.

Wilson’s first season in Nashville has been a total disaster.

From getting a trespass warning at Tennessee State University, to getting arrested for a DUI, to getting suspended prior to the game against the Cleveland Browns, the Georgia product has done everything wrong.

And now, the terrible optics of this video.

Titans’ Mike Vrabel addresses Isaiah Wilson’s placement on NFI list

Wilson was placed on the NFI list on Wednesday.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the situation involving 2020 first-round pick and offensive tackle, Isaiah Wilson, who was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list on Wednesday.

Wilson, who has had a tumultuous rookie campaign to say the least, is apparently working through some personal issues, according to a statement from general manager Jon Robinson that was released on Wednesday night.

Vrabel basically echoed Robinson’s statement on Wilson when talking to the media prior to Thursday’s practice, per Drake Hills of the Tennessean.

“Everybody has things that they have to work through,” Vrabel said. “We put Isaiah on the reserve list to allow him to handle those things, hopefully in a manner which would allow him to come back and be a part of our football team.”

Vrabel also added that Wilson is “going to do his part to help himself” and the team is “going to do our part to help him.”

Wilson was finally active for the first time all season in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens but saw his first action during the Week 12 game versus the Indianapolis Colts, where he played on four snaps.

The Georgia product was then suspended for the Week 13 game against the Cleveland Browns for violating team rules, was activated Monday, and then placed on the NFI list on Wednesday.

It would be surprising to see Wilson again this season, but at this point there’s no telling what will come next in this saga.

Titans GM Jon Robinson releases statement on Isaiah Wilson situation

Wilson was placed on the NFI list on Wednesday.

Shortly after placing 2020 first-round pick and offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list, Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson released a statement on the situation.

In his statement, Robinson confirms that Wilson’s placement on the list is a result of his dealing with personal issues. The hope is that Wilson can eventually re-join the team.

“Today we placed Isaiah Wilson on the Reserve Non-Football Illness list,” the statement reads. “Currently he is dealing with some personal issues, which will take some time for him to work through. We will continue to help him and support him, with the hope that he can ultimately re-join the team.

Wilson being placed on the list comes on the heels of his being activated on Monday after being suspended for the Week 13 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Wilson, who has gotten in hot water on several occasions this season, has taken the field in just one game and played a grand total of just four snaps in his rookie campaign.

Titans place Isaiah Wilson on Reserve/Non-Football Illness list

Wilson has taken yet another step backwards during his rookie season.

More bad news came down on Wednesday in regard to Tennessee Titans 2020 first-round pick and offensive tackle, Isaiah Wilson.

The team announced that it has placed Wilson on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list. This moves comes on the heels of Wilson being suspended by the Titans for the Week 13 game against the Cleveland Browns for violating team rules. He was just activated from his suspension on Monday.

This is just the latest chapter in the saga that has been Wilson’s troubled rookie campaign that has seen him play in just one game (three snaps) this season.

This could also spell the end of his 2020 season, although that remains to be seen. Regardless, it’s crystal clear that his future in Nashville is hazy at best.

In other news, the Titans also announced that cornerback Kareem Orr has been designated to return from Injured Reserve. The Titans now have 21 days to activate him.

Titans activate Darrynton Evans off IR, Isaiah Wilson off suspended list

The Tennessee Titans activated a pair of players Monday.

The Tennessee Titans activated a pair of players Monday, taking running back Darrynton Evans off Injured Reserve and removing offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson from the team’s Reserve/Suspended list.

Evans, who ended off his third week of practice last week, was placed on the ‘Designated for Return’ list in November. This designation allowed for a 21-day window in which Evans could practice with the Titans without being counted the 53-man roster until activated from Injured Reserve.

Evans hasn’t seen the field since Oct. 13, when Tennessee faced the Buffalo Bills. So far this season, he totals five carries for 21 yards.

The Titans announced they had suspended Wilson, who was already ruled out against the Cleveland Browns, on Sunday for violating team rules. Wilson made his NFL debut the previous week, and has seen just three offensive snaps this year.

He was arrested back in September for a DUI, and was also seen at a Tennessee State party in August, a violation of NFL guidelines against gatherings of over 15 people.

Wilson has been on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 two times this season.

The Tennessee Titans face the Jacksonville Jaguars up next on Sunday at noon CT at TIAA Bank Field.

Titans’ Mike Vrabel talks Isaiah Wilson suspension, Adoree’ Jackson, more

All the hot topics from Mike Vrabel’s Monday presser.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel held a Zoom call with the media on the Monday afternoon following his team’s Week 13 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Vrabel touched on several topics, including the Titans committing some back-breaking 15-yard penalties against the Browns, the status of Isaiah Wilson after his recent suspension, and what the future holds for Adoree’ Jackson the rest of the season.

He also gave updates on two rookies who are close to returning from Injured Reserve in running back Darrynton Evans and cornerback Kristian Fulton.

Vrabel also touched on the lack of a pass rush, the loss of outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, who is out for the season after getting knee surgery last Wednesday, and getting ready for the Titans’ Week 14 opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here’s the most interesting things Vrabel had to say on Monday following his team’s horrid losing performance on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

Titans’ Isaiah Wilson suspended by team for ‘violating club rules’

This is just the latest misstep for Wilson during his rookie campaign.

The Tennessee Titans have suspended offensive tackle and 2020 first-round pick, Isaiah Wilson, for Sunday’s contest versus the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Saturday evening.

Accordingly, the rookie out of the University of Georgia has been placed on the Reserve/Suspended list.

The franchise made a move based on Wilson’s violation of club rules, although it isn’t clear exactly what he did. Whatever the case may be, Wilson’s transgression will be added to a comedy of errors that outline his rookie season.

On July 28th, Wilson was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the first time. A couple of weeks later, Tennessee State University police issued Wilson a trespassing warning when he attended an off-campus party that was broken up.

The first few weeks of September weren’t pretty, either, as Wilson was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list for a second time on September 6th, and then on the 11th was charged with a DUI after crashing his vehicle.

Wilson finally saw the field for the first time on November 29th, but he only played four snaps (one on special teams) towards the end of the Titans’ victory in Indianapolis.

Saturday evening, another strike, and Wilson has been suspended. Calling the beginning of his young career a roller-coaster ride would be putting it nicely. Wilson will have some work to do to gain the Titans organization’s confidence, and that of its fanbase moving forward.

The Titans also made a few roster moves Saturday and elevated offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse and linebacker Tuzar Skipper from the practice squad.

Report: Titans’ Isaiah Wilson to be active for first time in Week 11

Wilson has had a rocky rookie season to say the least.

For the first time during his rookie campaign, Tennessee Titans offensive lineman and 2020 first-round pick, Isaiah Wilson, will be active for a game.

According to Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky, the injuries to left guard Rodger Saffold and center Ben Jones will lead to Wilson finally being in uniform in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Saffold has already been ruled out due to an ankle injury, while Jones, who did not practice all week, is listed as questionable with a knee injury and is in danger of missing Sunday’s contest.

Kuharsky notes that the move to make Wilson active is more about needing depth because of injury rather than merit.

The Titans currently have nine offensive linemen on their 53-man roster and must have at least eight active on Sunday, but one of them (Saffold) has already been ruled out.

The Titans also have the option of elevating fellow offensive linemen Daniel Munyer, Paul Adams or Brandon Kemp from the practice squad if they want additional depth.

Barring multiple injuries or a blowout situation, Wilson isn’t likely to see the field on offense. Regardless, this is the first shred of good news we’ve heard about Wilson, who has had a tumultuous rookie season to say the least.
