When Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a fractured ankle, the season went up in smoke. That 2020 was ostensibly over for the team was problematic enough, but the real issue was how badly this would impact him long-term.
Those who have doubted Prescott in the past likely know better by now. If not, Prescott might just be providing another lesson. The original recovery timetable for his injury was somewhere between four and six months. On Monday, team executive vice president Stephen Jones said Prescott was ahead of schedule.
Stephen Jones says everything the Cowboys’ front office has heard about Dak Prescott’s recovery is that he’s ahead of schedule – “which shouldn’t be surprising.”
Jones also specifically described Dak’s injury as “a four-month injury.”

He’s already shaved two months off the timeframe. For those whose strong suit isn’t math, four months on the dot would be just four days removed from the Super Bowl.
First things first, the Cowboys will not be in position to play in that game. It’s also nearly impossible to assume that Prescott would be able to resume football activities at that point in time. However, if a fan can’t daydream of a miraculous turnaround and combine it with a triumphant return from their best player, what’s the point?
Unfortunately, the reality is this: Prescott will not be back this season, but the daydreamers can take comfort in his recovery to date. He’s experienced none of the infection setbacks that have affected others in similar situations, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be ready to participate in all off-season activities.
