Texas A&M vs. New Mexico State injury report: Latest updates, news for Week 12 matchup

Here is Texas A&M’s initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 12 home matchup vs. New Mexico State

15th-ranked Texas A&M (7-2, 5-1 SEC) will host New Mexico State on Saturday night, which will also serve as the Aggies’ senior night instead of the season finale blockbuster vs. Texas on Nov. 30.

This week, head coach Mike Elko has continued to preach discipline and focus on things he and his coaching staff can fix in practice before the Aggies take the field, especially on defense after missing 25 missed tackles in the 44-20 loss to South Carolina in Week 10.

However, the loss of star running back Le’Veon Moss has thrown a wrench in the offensive game plan, as junior back Amari Daniels and senior EJ Smith will now take most of his snaps. At the same time, OC Collin Klein will need to be more creative and tailor the game plan to QB Marcel Reed’s dual-threat skillset at an even greater rate.

During Monday’s press conference, Mike Elko only provided one update regarding third-string quarterback Jaylen Henderson, who is “still hurt”, while starting left guard Chase Bisontis’s status remains in the air.

Texas A&M injury updates:

  • Rueben Owens – RB (Out for the season)
  • Le’Veon Moss – RB (Out for the season)
  • Mark Nabou – OL (Out for the season)
  • Tyreek Chappell – DB
  • Chase Bisontis – OL

New Mexico State injury updates:

  • Deuce Hogan – QB (Out for the season)

OL Chase Bisontis injury update

Bisontis’s absence has been noticeable over the past two games, especially against South Carolina, the O-line’s worst performance of the season. Facing an undersized New Mexico State team before heading to Alabama to take on Auburn, Bisontis will likely miss Saturday’s game and be ready against the Tigers and, most importantly, the season finale vs. Texas.

No. 14 Texas A&M will host New Mexico State on Saturday, Nov. 16. The game will air on SEC Network at 6:45 p.m. CT.

Texas A&M’s updated injury report ahead facing Mississippi State in Week 8

Here is the initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 8 road trip vs. Mississippi State

Texas A&M (5-1, 3-0 SEC) will head to Starkville (MS) later this weekend for a Week 8 road test against Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon. After taking a short break during the bye week, the Aggies will look to add to their current five-game winning streak.

On Monday, head coach Mike Elko spoke to the media in his regular weekly appearance, and like any bye week, the focus was on resting and getting as healthy as possible ahead of the final stretch of the regular season, starting with the status of quarterback Conner Weigman.

“We got healthy. We’re in a really good spot from a health standpoint. We’re excited for the next phase of the season.”

Concerning Weigman’s status after starting his first game in nearly a month in A&M’s 41-10 win over Missouri, the redshirt sophomore revealed that he is now 100% healthy for the first time this season, and is more than thrilled to be back to his regular playing form.

“Not being able to play a football game is always tough because I like being about to be out there with my brothers and having their backs. Not playing football sucks.”

“Being back to feeling good finally is a good feeling.”

Along the offensive line, starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams will be available, while center TJ Shanahan is slowly but surely returning to the lineup after missing the last two games.

Texas A&M will face Mississippi State on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3:15 p.m. CT. The game will air on the SEC Network.

Initial SEC Week 6 Availability Report for Texas A&M vs Missouri

The injury reports have been updated for Texas A&M Aggies vs Missouri game on Saturday

The SEC announced before the season that every team must follow new guidelines when reporting player availability. The new guidelines are called the “Availability Report. “The teams must provide an initial injury report on Wednesday, followed by a daily update with the final report 90 minutes before the game.”

While the new reporting system is supposed to improve transparency across the league, some coaches aren’t buying it.

“I mean, at this point, I know on their depth chart, it says the other kid’s the starting quarterback, but that’s just semantics in my opinion” Drinkwitz stated. “The other guy’s 3-0 as the starter, and whether he’s listed as questionable or whatever, I don’t see them going back.”

“They cleary have a different offensive identity when this guy is their quarterback and they’ve built an offense that fits around his system.”

Texas A&M will host Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11:00 a.m. CT. The game will air on ABC and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Below, you can find Wednesday’s injury report:

Texas A&M injury report:

Texas A&M’s initial injury report ahead of facing Bowling Green

Here is Texas A&M’s initial injury report ahead of taking on Bowling Green this weekend

Texas A&M’s 33-20 win over the Florida Gators was one to remember, even though it was against an average defense and a two-quarterback system that caused more confusion than success for the home team.

Due to his nagging shoulder injury, redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed made his first career start with starting quarterback Conner Weigman on the sidelines. With an elite running game, Reed’s duel-threat ability opened up OC Collin Klein’s playbook, while the Aggie running game accounted for 310 yards on the ground.

Dominating from start to finish, injuries still occurred as starting center Koli Faaiu left the game with an undisclosed injury. Still, during Monday’s press conference, head coach Mike Elko stated that he is going into the week day-to-day.

Other injuries include reserve safety Trey Jones, who missed the game but should be available to return to practice this week. However, Elko confirmed last week that senior cornerback Tyreek Chappell is out for the year after sustaining an injury in last week’s practice, as former Florida corner Jaydon Hill will likely replace his snaps at nickel.

However, Conner Weigman’s AC joint injury will continue to dominate the headlines this week. Elko stated on Monday that he is also day-to-day and could head into Saturday’s game vs. Bowling Green as a game-time decision for the second consecutive week.

We’re going to re-image it to make sure there’s nothing there that we’re missing and make sure we have the right plan in place.”

“We’ll sit down with our medical team this evening and come up with the right plan and course of action for this week.”

While Marcel Reed’s A+ performance against Florida should lead to another crack at the starting job, it might be inevitable to give Weigman as much time as possible to get back to full health before any true quarterback conversation takes place.

Texas A&M will host Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 21. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Abilene Christian

Here is Texas A&M’s initial injury report ahead the Aggies’ last home game of the 2023 season vs. Abilene Christian.

When the news broke that Jimbo Fisher had been fired from Texas A&M (6-4, 4-3 SEC) on Sunday, everything relating to the 2023 season paused until assistant head coach Elijah Robinson was granted the interim postion for the remaining three games, as the Aggies are back to work this week to finish the season strong.

On Monday, Robinson, in his first official media appearance as head coach, focused on his new responsibilities, what he learned during his last five seasons under Fisher, and how the team responded to the news after learning of Robinson’s promotion:

“When we talked to the team and addressed them about the transition, I thought those guys handled it really well. Those guys embraced me. They weren’t happy about what happened, but they were ready to move forward.”

Now, looking ahead to the Aggies early kickoff vs. the visiting Abilene Christian Wildcats, this will be the last home game for the seniors, including safety Demani Richardson and standout wide receiver Ainias Smith.

In terms of A&M’s current injury report ahead of the game, Robinson did note that there has been no update regarding quarterback Max Johnson’s status. At the same time, no injured player from last weekend’s 51-10 win over Mississippi State will likely remain out against ACU.

However, being that this is the last time several starters will play in Kyle Field, I suspect we’ll see a different-looking lineup on offense and defense, but don’t put it past Johnson to fight his way back in the lineup. If he can’t go, expect quarterback Jaylen Henderson to make his second consecutive start after accounting for four touchdowns against the Bulldogs in his dazzling debut.

Here is Texas A&M’s complete injury list:

Texas A&M

  • QB Conner Weigman (Out, foot)
  • TE Donovan Green (Out, ACL)
  • QB Max Johnson (Questionable, Ribs)
  • DB Jardin Gilbert (Out, shoulder)
  • RB Le’Veon Moss (Questionable, hamstring)
  • WR Evan Stewart (Questionable, lower body)

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Ole Miss

After Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher’s Monday presser, here is the initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M’s road trip to face Ole Miss.

Texas A&M (5-3, 3-2 SEC) got back in the winner’s column after earning their first win in nearly a month, downing the visiting South Carolina Gamecocks 30-17 on Saturday afternoon.

In just five short days, the Aggies will travel to Oxford (MS) to face the 11th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels and the notorious head coach Lane Kiffin, looking for revenge after last season’s home loss, spoiling than freshman quarterback Conner Weigman’s memorable four touchdown debut.

On Monday, Aggies’ head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke to the media as he does to start every game week, previewing what Kiffin has up his sleeve offensively, including how he will deploy star running back Quinshon Judkins, who destroyed Texas A&M’s then porous run defense in their 2022 meeting.

Despite several players missing the South Carolina game, including starting running back Le’Veon Moss, Fisher’s update after the game still holds strong, as Moss will return vs. Ole Miss. Concerning wide receiver Raymond Cottrell (foot), his status remains up in the air.

For the Rebels, wide receiver Qua Davis’s status may change later this week, but as of Monday, he will be out this weekend. On a final note, Conner Weigman’s rehab progression is going very well, as the sophomore standout was on the sidelines with a stability scooter and is slated to be 100% healthy ahead of the 2024 season.

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. South Carolina

After Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher provided several critical injury updates ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 9 home matchup vs. South Carolina.

Fresh off their bye week, Texas A&M (4-3, 2-2 SEC) and head coach Jimbo Fisher are ready to get back to work on the gridiron amid a disappointing two-game losing streak in SEC play.

On Monday, Fisher, alongside senior tight end Max Wright, spoke to the local media for the first time in nearly two weeks to preview the Week 9 home matchup vs. the struggling South Carolina Gamecocks, viewed by many as a “get right” game after hopefully fixing several lingering issues during the short break.

Concerning the injury report, Fisher, in his usual vague manner, at least provided somewhat of an update regarding recent injuries to DL Walter Nolen and Albert Regis linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, and hybrid safety Bryce Anderson:

“Most guys healed up. The week was really good. For the most part, we should be pretty healthy.”

Most notably, Walter Nolen, who sustained what looked to be a brutal lower-body injury in the Aggies’ last road loss to Tennessee, reportedly dodged a bullet and has been on the road to recovery ever since. While many of you are still asking about the status of offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree II, he may or may not be included in Fisher’s “Most guys are healed up” comment, which goes the same for safety Jardin Gilbert.

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Tennessee

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher provided several injury updates ahead of Texas A&M’s pivotal Week 7 road trip to face the Tennessee Volunteers.

Texas A&M (4-2, 2-1 SEC) is fresh off its difficult loss to Alabama on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Crimson Tide 26-20 in front of a sold-out Kyle Field.

Only sustaining their first conference loss, the Aggies are still technically in the thick of the things regarding the SEC West. Still, the road only gets more demanding as they will now travel to face the Tennesse Volunteers (4-1, 1-1 SEC) in Knoxville (TN). On Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke to the media to reflect on the loss while looking ahead to the stiff challenge the Vols present after coming off their respective bye week.

Concerning the current injury report after facing Alabama, star WR Evan Stewart’s ankle was less severe than anticipated, as he played throughout the entire matchup, and looks good to go for Saturday, barring any last-minute update. Now, finally receiving an update on the status of right tackle Reuben Fatheree, Fisher stated,

“Reuben (Fatheree) is still rehabbing and trying to get back.”

Somewhat cryptic, the team will have to wait at least another week until his eventual return. Fisher also provided a much-needed update on former North Carolina cornerback Tony Grimes, who’s reportedly dealing with a “lingering lower body injury” that has kept him sidelined for nearly a month. Also, safety Jardin Gilbert remains out.

For Tennessee, here is the injury list that will likely change before the end of the week:

  • OL Andrej Karic (Questionable, undisclosed)
  • WR Dont’e Thornton Jr. (Probable, undisclosed)
  • DB Christian Charles (Out, ankle)
  • WR Bru McCoy (Out, ankle)
  • LB Kwauze Garland (Out, undisclosed)
  • LB Keenan Pili (Out, upper body)
  • RB DeSean Bishop (Out, ankle)

Texas A&M will travel to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2:30 p.m. CT, inside Neyland Stadium (TV: CBS).

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Alabama

After head coach Jimbo Fisher’s Monday press conference, here is the initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Alabama.

Texas A&M (4-1, 2-0 SEC) is set to take on the visiting Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1, 2-0 SEC) in by far the biggest matchup in college football in Week 6, as both teams are fighting for SEC West supremacy, especially after LSU dropped its second game of the season after falling to Ole Miss on Saturday night.

After demolishing Arkansas 34-22, second-year defensive coordinator D.J Durkin is a man on a mission, orchestrating an impressive turnaround for an Aggie defense that has dominated the trenches, recording 14 sacks and 30 tackles for loss in their last two games while holding the Razorbacks to 174 total yards on the afternoon.

Amid soaring expectations after starting the season 1-1, head coach Jimbo Fisher is taking his usual “nameless, faceless” approach to face the juggernaut that is Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide, but sounds as confident as ever heading into Saturday’s mid-afternoon showdown. On Monday, Fisher spoke to the media to preview the team’s preparation for the Tide while also providing several updates regarding the Aggies’ current injury report.

So far, so good, as sophomore wide receiver Evan Stewart was the only Aggie starter who sustained a minor ankle injury against Arkansas but did sit out for most of the second half after taking a brutal hit out of bounds after an impressive toe-tapping catch on a third-down conversion. As of today, Fisher stated that Stewart “should be good to go” against Alabama.

While the return of safety Jardin Gilbert remains in flux as he continues to recover, the same can be said for offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree II, who is apparently still rehabbing with no given return timetable.

For Alabama, linebacker Deontae Lawson is questionable with an ankle injury, and wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr. will sit out due to a hip injury.

Texas A&M will host No.10 Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2:30 p.m. CT, inside Kyle Field (TV: CBS).

Initial injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Auburn

Ahead of Texas A&M’s SEC home opener vs. the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, here is the initial injury report for both squads

Texas A&M (2-1) is fresh off its 47-3 Week 3 victory over the visiting UL Monroe Warhawks last Saturday, finally getting back on track after falling 48-33 the previous week to Miami in one of their worst defensive showings in years. This Saturday, the Aggies will host the undefeated Auburn Tigers to open the SEC slate while seeking revenge after falling to the program in 2022.

Leading the way once against, sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman tore the Warhawks secondary to shreds, throwing for an efficient 25/29, 337 yards, and two touchdowns, including a 19-yard rushing score.

With star wide receiver Evan Stewart sidelined, Grand Valley State transfer WR Jahdae Walker exploded for five reactions, 110 yards, and a touchdown, only upstaged by veteran WR Ainias Smith, who led the game with seven receptions and 127 yards through the air.

On Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher made his weekly media appearance to preview the Aggies’ matchup with the Tigers while providing several updates regarding the injury report after several players left the UL Monroe game early.

Leaving the game early, freshman right tackle Chase Bisontis and wide receiver Noah Thomas were both nicked up in-game. At the same time, Evan Stewart’s status was never disclosed. Still, as of today, Fisher stated that Bisontis, Thomas, Stewart, and possibly offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree II “should be good to go” against Auburn.

Starting center Bryce Foster and freshman cornerback Jayvon Thomas also missed Saturday’s game and are also expected to return this weekend.

Linebacker Austin Keys will likely miss the matchup for the Tigers due to a thumb injury, while cornerback Keionte Scott will be out as well.

Texas A&M will host the Auburn Tigers at Kyle Field on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11:00 a.m., where it will air on ESPN.
