New IndyCar Series team looking to buy future charters for 2025

A new NTT IndyCar Series team is looking to buy future charters for the 2025 season. Find out which team and the latest on their efforts!

The NTT IndyCar Series is prepared to introduce a charter system in May that will hand out 25 charters to existing race teams. The charter will guarantee a spot in every race except the Indianapolis 500 and provide other notable perks. Teams without a charter won’t have the same incentive and must qualify for races. So, one future IndyCar team is taking action.

According to RACER.com’s Marshall Pruett, PREMA Racing has contacted multiple teams about purchasing a charter. PREMA Racing hasn’t competed in IndyCar yet but will be full-time with two entries starting in 2025. According to Pruett, PREMA Racing is rumored to have offered $1 million per charter.

It is excellent that IndyCar has more teams than charters, but with likely 27 spots for each race outside of the Indianapolis 500, PREMA Racing may not make the field most weeks. The team is pushing for future charters that IndyCar will grant race teams, but who will be the ones to sell them and set the market? It will be fascinating to watch moving forward.

A.J. Foyt gives honest take on Team Penske’s cheating scandal in IndyCar

A.J. Foyt gives his honest take on Team Penske’s cheating scandal in the NTT IndyCar Series. Check out what Foyt had to say!

[autotag]Team Penske[/autotag] has been the main topic in the NTT IndyCar Series paddock since penalties from St. Petersburg were revealed. Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin were disqualified, while Will Power was docked 10 points as Team Penske manipulated the Push to Pass parameters. McLaughlin went on to win at Barber Motorsports Park, but this story isn’t going away.

In fact, IndyCar team owner [autotag]A.J. Foyt[/autotag] spoke to the Associated Press’ Jenna Fryer and gave an honest take on the “cheating scandal.” Despite most people attacking Team Penske, Foyt took a different approach and defended them.

“I think the drivers thought they could use the [system] at a certain time, and it turned out they couldn’t, so I think it was all just a big misunderstanding,” Foyt said. “I have known [Roger Penske] longer than anyone in my career. He is straight up. He’s not a B-plus guy, he’s an A-plus guy. He doesn’t need to cheat for his cars to win races and I really respect him for standing up to the owners and offering his side.”

Team Penske either made a mistake like Foyt suggested, or the team and drivers are playing dumb about the situation. Either way, it isn’t great that IndyCar has to deal with its drama, especially when the organization owns the series. Team Penske will try to move forward, but this story isn’t going away, as many questions remain unanswered.

Arrow McLaren shockingly releases David Malukas in IndyCar Series

Arrow McLaren announced that is has released David Malukas from his contract in the NTT IndyCar Series.

[autotag]Arrow McLaren[/autotag] made a shocking statement on Monday morning that shook the NTT IndyCar Series world. The organization announced that it has released [autotag]David Malukas[/autotag] from his contract for the remainder of the 2024 season. This comes as Malukas missed four races to start the 2024 season after sustaining a left wrist injury in early February.

Malukas’ timeline for a return remains unclear as he continues to heal from his left wrist injury. After moving over from Dale Coyne Racing, he was supposed to make his Arrow McLaren debut alongside Pato O’Ward and Alexander Rossi for the 2024 season. Instead, Callum Ilott and Théo Pourchaire have driven the entry to start the year.

Arrow McLaren is currently working on the entry’s plans for the coming months. It’s unclear if there will be one driver or several, with an opening for the Indianapolis 500 now. As for Malukas, he will continue the process toward a full recovery and hope to be back soon. The young driver has potential, and another race team should look into signing him.

IndyCar team owner blasts Team Penske for cheating at St. Petersburg

ONe IndyCar team owner has blasted Team Penske for cheating at St. Petersburg. Check out what the IndyCar owner had to say about Penske!

[autotag]Team Penske[/autotag] was caught cheating at St. Petersburg, and the consequences matched the crime. Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin were disqualified after Team Penske manipulated the Push to Pass parameters. Tim Cindric, the President of Team Penske, claimed it was an accident, but others are not convinced that was the case.

One IndyCar team owner, who was granted anonymity, talked to IndyStar and gave their opinion on Cindric’s statement. Overall, most of the team owners are upset and believe it is not true.

“The statement that Cindric put out is a bold-faced lie, and everyone knows that,” the IndyCar team owner said. “For teams to read that, it’s, ‘Are you kidding me?’ If you tell the lie enough times, it doesn’t make it true.”

This has been a massive story in racing over the week as Team Penske is arguably IndyCar’s most controversial team due to the conflict of interests. However, the damage has been for Newgarden, McLaughlin, and Team Penske. It remains seen how this story develops moving forward but it’s not going away anytime soon.

IndyCar denies Indianapolis 500 entry promoting Donald Trump, RFK Jr.

The NTT IndyCar Series has denied an Indianapolis 500 entry with the intention of promoting Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest motorsports event of the year, and the hype is already building. On May 26, Kyle Larson will attempt “The Double” with the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600, which has created heightened expectations for the event. Going into the biggest race of 2024, IndyCar has drawn a line when it comes to sponsorship.

According to RACER’s Marshall Pruett, IndyCar denied an entry request with the intention of “promoting both Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former president Donald Trump on the car’s bodywork.” It is unclear which driver and team were denied this request. This comes as the 2024 Presidential Election is set to take place in November.

According to IndyCar in a statement through RACER, “IndyCar does not approve sponsorships associated with elected officials, candidates for political office or political action committees.” The Indianapolis 500 is one of the biggest sporting events of the entire year, rivaling the Super Bowl in terms of overall popularity.

Josef Newgarden emotionally talks after Team Penske’s cheating scandal

Josef Newgarden emotionally talks after Team Penske was caught cheating at St. Petersburg. Check out what Newgarden had to say!

[autotag]Josef Newgarden[/autotag] started the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series season on the right note by winning the opening event. However, it quickly went downhill after the IndyCar Series announced that Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin were disqualified from St. Petersburg after breaking the rules with Push to Pass. Also, Will Power was docked 10 points.

Instead of releasing a press release, Newgarden spoke to the media in a press conference on Friday morning. The 2023 Indianapolis 500 winner talked about the situation and was really emotional as he held back tears.

“The tricky thing about this whole situation is I didn’t know I did anything wrong until Monday after Long Beach,” Newgarden said. “It’s the first time I heard that I broke the rules. You guys can call me every name in the book – you can call me incompetent, call me an idiot, call me an [expletive], call me stupid, whatever you want to call me, but I’m not a liar.”

“The story that I know, which is the truth, is almost too convenient to be believable. So to answer your question, no, I didn’t leave St. Pete thinking we pulled something over on somebody. I didn’t know that we did something wrong until this week. The key difference on the No. 2 car, which is important to understand, is that somehow we convinced ourselves that there was a rule change to restarts specifically with overtake usage.”

At the end of the day, no one knows whether Team Penske was truly attempting to break the rules or not. Yet, Newgarden and McLaughlin’s results won’t change, and the team faces the consequences of their actions. It will be tough to put this story behind them, but Team Penske must focus forward and climb out of this massive points hole.

Will Power releases statement after Team Penske’s severe IndyCar penalty

Will Power releases a statement after Team Penske’s severe IndyCar penalty at St. Petersburg. Check out what Power had to say!

On Wednesday morning, the NTT IndyCar Series shocked the racing world after disqualifying Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin from the race at St. Petersburg. It came after Team Penske manipulated the Push to Pass parameters in the event. Now, [autotag]Will Power[/autotag], who was penalized 10 points, has released his own statement after it was revealed he didn’t break the rules in the car.

“I was disappointed to learn about the penalty that we received this week from INDYCAR,” Power said. “There was an oversight by our team and I was unaware of the situation until it was brought to our attention following Long Beach.”

“As per the rules, I did not utilize the [Push to Pass] capabilities during any start or restart during the St. Petersburg race. While I accept the penalty, I want it to be known that I did nothing wrong and followed the rules. Now we move forward and my focus is on Barber.”

Power was moved to a second-place finish at St. Petersburg because he didn’t use Push to Pass on starts or restarts. The 10-point penalty will hurt the driver of the No. 12 car in the point standings, but it could’ve been much worse for him. Now, Power and Team Penske will try to put this incident behind them and focus on the IndyCar Series season moving forward.

Josef Newgarden disqualified from St. Petersburg, Pato O’Ward wins

Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin have been disqualified from the IndyCar Series race at St. Petersburg. Pato O’Ward is the new winner.

In a shocking development, there is a new winner for the NTT IndyCar Series’ opening race at St. Petersburg. On Wednesday morning, the IndyCar Series announced that Team Penske drivers [autotag] Josef Newgarden[/autotag] and Scott McLaughlin have been disqualified for violating Push-to-Pass parameters at St. Petersburg. [autotag] Pato O’Ward[/autotag] is officially deemed the new winner.

Alongside Newgarden and McLaughlin, Team Penske driver Will Power has received a 10-point penalty. IndyCar investigated Team Penske after it found that each driver had the ability to use Push to Pass on starts and restarts during the warmup session in Long Beach. Newgarden and McLaughlin used it at St. Petersburg, while Power did not.

The shocking move has O’Ward, Power, and Colton Herta on the podium at St. Petersburg. Newgarden now sits 11th (-45), while McLaughlin sits 29th (-74) in the point standings. This has a massive impact on the point standings, as Team Penske released a statement accepting the penalties for Newgarden, McLaughlin, and Power.
