Week 5 of the NFL season offered another opportunity to track former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and the Miami Dolphins as Philadelphia looks to snag three high first-round picks this spring.

When the Eagles traded Wentz in the offseason, the team received a conditional second-round rounder in 2022 that would become a first-round pick if the quarterback takes 75% of the Colts’ regular-season offensive snaps or 70% if they make the playoffs.

We’re tracking the quarterback snaps as Philadelphia marches towards a third first-round pick.

Carson Wentz to wear No. 2 for the Indianapolis Colts

After Michael Pittman stated he was keeping the No. 11 jersey, Carson Wentz will now wear the No. 2 for the Indianapolis Colts

The Carson Wentz era in Philadelphia officially ends in about 3 hours and 11 minutes, and we have some news in what could be our final article about the quarterback until 2022 when the Eagles travel to Indy to face the Colts.

Wentz will officially be traded to the Colts at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop the organization from blessing the quarterback’s biggest fan back in Philadelphia.

Giovanni the Philly Sports Podcaster and Wentz had a great relationship while the quarterback was here in Philadelphia, and that relationship will continue while Wentz is with the Colts.

In a cool gesture that allowed Giovanni to break some news, the cool kid unveiled a blue No. 2 Colts jersey with Wentz’s name on the back.

Wentz wore No. 11 at North Dakota State and with the Eagles, but Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is currently wearing No. 11 and shut down any idea of a swap, per the Indy Star.

“(Wentz) asked me how locked in I am on No. 11,” Pittman said, referencing a conversation with his new quarterback. “I told him I’m pretty locked in. He said, ‘Alright, that’s fine. I’m going to change anyway.’

“I’m staying No. 11.”

Wentz wore the No. 20 in high school, and with 1 + 1 = 2, he’ll still be No. 11 in his own mind.

Previous Indianapolis Colts players to wear No. 2 include Timmy Brown (1968), Boris Shlapak (1972), Toni Linhart (1974-79), Raul Allegre (1983-85), Rigoberto Sanchez (2017-18), and Brian Hoyer (2019).

If Wentz does what he’s supposed to do, he could get the number retired.

When the Eagles and Colts meet in 2022, it’ll be the battle of No. 2 jerseys, since Philadelphia starter, Jalen Hurts wears No. 2 for the Eagles.

Report: Carson Wentz interested in a potential trade to the Colts if Philip Rivers retires

Ian Rapoport is reporting that if Colts quarterback Philip Rivers retires, Carson Wentz would certainly be interested in a trade to Indianapolis.

The final NFL Sunday of the 2021 season again sees Carson Wentz as the main topic of interest and it surrounds his future in Philadelphia.

On ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Chris Mortensen reported that Wentz’s relationship with the Eagles is “fractured” beyond repair and he’ll look to move on.

Moments ago, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafalo reported that the Colts are Wentz’s preferred destination, but that could all center around whether Philip Rivers, decides to retire.

Rivers has been named head football coach-in-waiting at St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Ala., and although he’s hinted at one last season, he could choose to walk away entirely.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson recently reiterated that he believes Wentz can be “fixed” and he’s stuck by the notion that Philadelphia is committed to their franchise quarterback.

Wentz’s 15 interceptions are tied for the NFL lead even though he hasn’t played in the last three games, and he’s still the NFL’s most sacked quarterback in the NFL as well.

Bengals are an interesting underdog play in Week 6 vs. Colts

Here are the odds for Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts in Week 6.

[jwplayer 7sBP7Z0F]

Entering Week 6, the one-win Cincinnati Bengals are again underdogs.

This time it’s a little different than the week prior though, as the Bengals were understandable underdogs against the contending Baltimore Ravens.

This week the opponent is the 3-2 Indianapolis Colts, a team struggling to find consistency but plenty dangerous if they get hot.

As such, considering this is another road game for the Bengals, it isn’t too shocking to see they’re eight-point underdogs at BetMGM.

But the Bengals are certainly more interesting in an underdog role here than they were against the Ravens. The Colts have cobbled together two wins against bad New York Jets and Minnesota teams while managing to lose to both Jacksonville and Cleveland.

Consistency under center has been a problem again this year for the Colts, this time with Philip Rivers and his four touchdowns and five interceptions. Given how well the Bengals defense has quietly played, it might be a prime opportunity for a “breakout” performance from the unit.

And at this point, Bengals fans have come to trust that Joe Burrow will more often than not put his team in a position to win, especially against a nearly .500 team.

Which is to say the Bengals make for one of the more interesting underdog plays on the entire Week 6 slate.

Colts return unsold tickets for Monday Night Football vs. Saints

The Indianapolis Colts returned unsold tickets for their Monday Night Football game against the New Orleans Saints in prime-time.

The Indianapolis Colts returned an unsold portion of their ticket allotment for their “Monday Night Football” game against the New Orleans Saints next week, opening the door for Saints fans who want to be in that number but haven’t gotten a seat yet to claim theirs. Tickets can be purchased by following this link.

In addition to the usual festivities that surround a Saints game, this prime-time matchup will recognize the team that won Super Bowl XLIV for New Orleans — a victory that came against these same Colts, as luck would have it. The Saints announced Friday that they plan to introduce many players and coaches from that championship-winning squad at halftime.

Few players on today’s Saints team remain from the 2009 team that went the distance. Quarterback Drew Brees is putting the final touches of his Hall of Fame resume, while punter Thomas Morstead is playing the best football of his career in his eleventh season. Their last remaining teammate from the Super Bowl champions, right tackle Zach Strief, retired after the 2017 season and joined the WWL Radio broadcast booth.

So this is a great opportunity for fans without tickets to relive some great memories and welcome Saints legends like Marques Colston, Reggie Bush, Garrett Hartley, and Jabari Greer back into the Superdome. This won’t be a game you’ll want to miss.
