Reacting to the Boston Celtics’ Game 1 East finals win over the Indiana Pacers

How do we feel about the fact that Boston managed to gut out a victory in contexts they have historically failed?

The Boston Celtics are now the proud owners of a 1-0 lead in their 2024 NBA Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Indiana Pacers. But they very nearly found themselves on the other side of the series win count, with a clutch 3 from star Boston forward Jaylen Brown sending the game to an extra period when it looked certain the Celtics would lose the game.

How do we feel about the fact that Boston managed to gut out a victory in contexts they have historically failed? Conversely, how do we feel about the fact they came within a hair’s breadth of losing the game?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “First to the Floor” podcast, Jake Issenberg, Ben Vallis, and Wayne Spooney, took a closer look almost as soon as the final buzzer sounded. Check it out below!

Boston Celtics steal Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Eastern Conference finals vs. the Indiana Pacers in OT

A clutch trey from star Celtics forward Jaylen Brown sent the contest into an extra period to settle the game.

There have been some legitimate questions about the Boston Celtics‘ end of game execution for years now. But in the Celtics’ 133-128 overtime Game 1 win over the Indiana Pacers at TD Garden this past Tuesday (May 21) night, Boston showed their fans and the world that they can win a tight ball game against a determined opponent.

A clutch trey from star Celtics forward Jaylen Brown sent the contest into an extra period to settle the game, and a collaborative effort in OT sealed the deal for Boston to give them a 1-0 series lead heading into Game 2.

Patriots CB Isaiah Bolden’s live reaction to Celtics-Pacers game was incredible

Live reactions don’t get any better than this

The NBA Eastern Conference Finals opened up with a bang on Tuesday night, as the Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers.

Multiple Patriots players were in attendance and got a good view of Jaylen Brown’s game-tying shot late in the fourth quarter, which ultimately pushed the game into overtime.

The Celtics were victorious by a 133-128 margin.

Everyone from Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to cornerback Isaiah Bolden reacted to the game. However, Bolden’s reaction of Brown’s clutch 3-point shot might have been the best. To say he was excited would be a huge understatement.

It’s always awesome to see fellow Boston sports team supporting each other. There could be more sightings of Patriots players soon, in what promises to be an exciting series.

Will we see Kristaps Porzingis before the end of the Boston Celtics’ East finals series with the Indiana Pacers?

KP will likely need a little run to ramp up his conditioning after missing about a month of play.

Will we see star Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis back on the basketball court before the end of the Celtics’ 2024 NBA Eastern Conference finals series with the Indiana Pacers?

Earlier this week, we heard from senior ESPN analyst Adrian Wojnarowski that the Latvian center would miss at least Games 1 and 2 of the series, but that a return to play during the East finals was still on the table for Boston. KP will likely need a little run to ramp up his conditioning after missing about a month of play, and it would not be opportune to do so in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals, should the Celtics advance.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Still Poddable” podcast, Brian Robb, Sam Packard, and Jay King, took a closer look at the prospects of a Porzingis return on a recent episode. Check it out below for yourself.

The Boston Celtics have learned from their past mistakes – and it shows

Will their improved mentality pay big dividends in the form of a banner for Boston?

In many a season past, the Boston Celtics have been their own worst enemy, allowing a lack of focus and intensity derail their title aspirations on more than one occasion. But this season, we have seen the Celtics evolve, taking care of their business against the sort of lesser ball clubs that have plagued them in prior postseasons.

Will their improved mentality pay big dividends in the form of a banner for Boston? And how might the injury to star Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis impact the Celtics’ postseason plans in their Eastern Conference finals series with the Indiana Pacers and beyond?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took a closer look on a recent episode of their show. Check it out below!

Celtics Lab 260: On Boston escaping Indy with a Game 1 win, what’s coming in Game 2 with Kory Waldron

How will they manage to stay afloat in their frontcourt rotation with Kristaps Porzingis still several games away from a return?

Game 1 of the Boston Celtics Eastern Conference finals series with the Indiana Pacers is in the books, and the Celtics have a 1-0 series lead with their 133-128 win.

But it took overtime to pull it off, and Boston digging deep with a few lucky breaks to pull out the win, a few minor mistakes over the course of the contest nearly costing them the win in their own arena of TD Garden (and home court advantage with it). Perhaps having been burned so many times before in similar situations helped them find the necessary gear, but there are some serious concerns in need of a fix for Boston to advance to the 2024 NBA Finals.

How will they manage to stay afloat in their frontcourt rotation with Kristaps Porzingis still several games away from a return? Can they keep using drop coverage so liberally? And what players off their bench can make an impact in this series?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Kory Waldron, the host of the “Full Access Hoops” podcast to break down what we saw in Game 1 and what we expect in Game 2. Make sure you check it out to get up to speed on all things East finals.

Drake Maye reacts to Celtics’ shocking comeback win over Pacers

Drake Maye reacts to the Celtics’ epic comeback win over the Pacers

New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye was as shocked as everyone else to see the Boston Celtics’ improbable comeback victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Maye watched from the sidelines at the TD Garden as Celtics guard Jaylen Brown forced a turnover, before knocking down a 3-pointer in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter to push the game into overtime. The Celtics proceeded to take over the game in extra minutes and pulling out a dramatic victory in the end.

Maye’s reaction after the game was probably the same as everyone else’s in the arena.

“That was pretty sweet,” said Maye, via MassLive’s Karen Guregian.

Maye was treated like a rockstar the moment he entered the building. He signed autographs and even got featured on the jumbotron.

There is a lot of hope riding on the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft to help get the Patriots’ offense back on track. Like the Celtics, the Patriots hope to get back to competing in conference championships—and eventually, Super Bowls.

Former Duke star Jayson Tatum makes two clutch baskets to win Game 1 of the ECF for Boston

Jayson Tatum, a former Duke star, scored six points in 40 seconds during overtime of the first game of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night. The Celtics won by five.

The Boston Celtics won the opening game of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night thanks to two huge baskets from former Duke star Jayson Tatum in overtime.

The Celtics trailed by three and needed to play defense with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but an Indiana turnover and a 3-pointer from Jaylen Brown knotted the game at 117 apiece.

Boston, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, outscored Indiana 16-11 in the additional period thanks to 10 points from Tatum over the closing five minutes. Five of those points came at the free throw line, but the two buckets proved to be the deciding factor in the game.

With Boston trailing by two with 1:20 left on the clock, the Celtics fed Tatum in the paint. The former Blue Devil spun around contact and finished in mid-air to avoid a travel call and earn the trip to the line for an and-one.

After his free throw gave the Celtics the lead, a miscommunication during a screen left Tatum wide open on the next offensive possession. Derrick White found the former Duke star at the top of the key and, well, he did this.

Boston went on a 6-0 run, all because of Tatum, over that 40-second stretch. They won the game by five.

The Celtics look to get halfway to a series victory during Game 2 on Thursday night.

PHOTOS: Boston vs. Indiana – Celtics earn 133-128 Game 1 OT win

Let’s take a look at some of the best moments captured in images in the Celtics’ Game 1 of their East finals series vs. the Pacers.

The Boston Celtics squeaked past the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals with a 133-128 overtime victory. Boston entered the series as heavy favorites to win the series, and teams that win Game 1 of an NBA conference finals have gone on to win the series 77.4% of the time.

The Celtics and the Pacers were the top two offenses in the NBA this season, and Game 1 opened as a scoring clinic. Boston made it to the rim with ease, while Indiana benefitted from hot shooting. In the second half, however, Boston was able to take control of the game’s tempo, grinding things down with aggressive defense and an emphasis on attacking the rim, though the Pacers refused to relent. An Indiana run late saw the Celtics fall behind in the final moments of the game, but after Jaylen Brown was able to force overtime, Boston recaptured their defensive intensity and closed the door on the Pacers.

Let’s take a look at some of the best moments captured in images in the Celtics’ Game 1 of their East finals series vs. the Pacers.
