Pacers at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 114, Bulls 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The spread presents better odds for the Pacers (-135), who are 3-1 in their last 4 road games.

Against the spread

BET PACERS -2.5 (-110).

The Bulls have dropped 4 of their last 6 games, including each of their last 3. In that span, they are just 3-7 ATS, including 1-5 ATS when playing as underdogs.

The Pacers are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games and have covered in 3 of their last 5 as favorites. They play a Bulls team coming off an upset home loss against the Wizards, while the Pacers are trying to end their roadtrip on a high note.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 235.5 (-110).

The Under has hit, and the Pacers have held opponents to 113 or fewer, in 7 of the last 10 Indiana games. They face a Chicago squad that has scored more than 113 points just 3 time in its last 9 games.

Indiana Pacers at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Indiana Pacers at Chicago Bulls odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (2-2) welcome the Indiana Pacers (1-3) to United Center Wednesday. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Pacers vs. Bulls odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Bulls come into this game following a 120-102 win over the Boston Celtics Monday. In covering as 5-point underdogs they handed the Finals-making Celtics their 1st loss of the season. Chicago at home to the Cavaliers 128-96 Saturday in its previous game.

Chicago is led by F DeMar DeRozan and his 26.8 points per game on 53.5% shooting from the field. G Zach LaVine sits second in the team, averaging 21 points per game.

The Pacers lost 120-106 at the Philadelphia 76ers in their last outing Monday, failing to cover as 12-point underdogs. The Pacers beat the Detroit Pistons at home 124-115 in the game prior on Saturday.

Indiana is led by G Tyrese Haliburton, who is averaging 24 points per game and is shooting 52.4% from the field. Rookie G Bennedict Mathurin is shooting 48.4% from the field and averaging 22.3 points per game.

Pacers at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 118, Pacers 109

Moneyline

PASS.

The Bulls (-340), at home, against a struggling Pacers team seems like a home-run play, but the risk outweighs the reward.

Against the spread

BET BULLS -7.5 (-103).

Chicago is simply the more versatile team. It also has defensive-minded guards like G Alex Caruso who should be able to slow down the effectiveness of Haliburton.

Turner should continue to be sidelined which means C Nikola Vucevic should get easier opportunities on the paint. Even if he does play, I would expected limited minutes.

The Bulls are starting to find their rhythm as well with LaVine getting to full strength after missing the season opener against Miami. Indiana is 0-1 ATS as a road underdog.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 232.5 (-110).

Both teams rank in the top 10 in turnover rate, so this should be a clean game. Both teams also rank in the bottom 10 in true shooting percentage.

The mixture of poor shooting and no turnovers should create a slow game, and with a relatively high total, I’d play the UNDER 232.5 (-110) here.

Indiana Pacers at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Indiana Pacers at Chicago Bulls odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Indiana Pacers (7-11) travel to United Center Monday to take on the Chicago Bulls (12-5). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Pacers vs. Bulls odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Pacers have been disappointing this season despite having one of the best five-man starting units in the Eastern Conference. With guards Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert recently returned they should match up well with Chicago.

The Pacers beat the New Orleans Pelicans by 17 in their last outing, but are just 2-9 on the road which doesn’t bode well for their trip to Chicago. Indiana is 9-9 against the spread (ATS) and 6-12 on the over/under (O/U).

The Bulls added G Lonzo Ball, G Alex Caruso and F DeMar DeRozan in the offseason and have been one of the league’s most surprising teams, currently sitting atop the Eastern Conference.

The Bulls are winners of two straight games and have an impressive 6-2 record at home. They’re 12-5 ATS and 7-10 O/U. This will be the two team’s first matchup this season.

Pacers at Bulls odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 108, Pacers 105

Money line

PASS on the money line.

While I like the Bulls to win here, especially at home, the -165 just isn’t worth the risk. The Pacers have a deep and talented roster as well, and the Bulls will again be without starting All-Star-caliber Vucevic who is reconditioning after testing positive for COVID-19 in early November.

Against the spread

“LEAN” slightly to the PACERS +3.5 (-108) as their lineup is deep and has talent. Also, C Myles Turner, who has led the league in shots many times, should be able to make his presence felt against the Bulls guard-heavy play.

Indiana averages the most blocks per game while the Bulls average 55.1% of their points from two-point range, the fourth-highest rate in the NBA.

The Pacers may have a sub-.500 record, but they have a zero net rating. In other terms, they lose more games than they win, but their losses are closer than their wins. They don’t get blown out.

It’s a lean at best, but the Pacers feel like the better play, especially given the absence of Vucevic.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 210.5 (-107) as both teams should be able to put points on the board.

The Pacers are one of the most underrated three-point shooting teams in the NBA. Everyone in their starting lineup, including rookie G Chris Duarte, can hit from deep.

They have the 15th-best offensive rating and the 10th-best offensive rebounding rate. The Bulls are in the bottom half of the league in defensive rebounding rate and those extra possessions should keep the game close and boost the score.

Both teams rank in the top ten in true shooting rate as well. While Unders have been hot this season, with all the starpower and scoring present here, the Over is the better bet.

Pacers at Bulls: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 118, Bulls 109

Money line (ML)

PASS because the Pacers are the right side, but betting big favorites straight-up in NBA regular-season games is a bad strategy.

Against the spread (ATS)

Indiana’s new up-tempo style, which includes chucking more 3’s, being implemented by first-year head coach Nate Bjorkgren looked great in the first game against the New York Knicks. The Pacers stormed back from a halftime deficit with a 60-41 second-half performance in a 121-107 win vs. the Knicks as 7.5-point home favorites.

The Bulls were blown out in their season opener at home vs. the Atlanta Hawks 124-104. Chicago was 41.4% from the field and 22.9% from behind the arc, while allowing the Hawks to hit 40% of their 3’s.

Bjorkgren has the Pacers taking more 3’s than previous seasons and we saw the Bulls get crushed in 3’s by the Knicks. However, Chicago was above-average in opponent’s 3-point percentage and defensive efficiency last season. The Bulls have a new coach of their own—Billy Donovan—and, while they have the pieces to play good defense, they are figuring out a new system as well.

Another thing that I’m considering early on is the edge teams who played in the bubble over the ones that didn’t, which is something NBA analysts have discussed during broadcasts. This Bulls team hasn’t seen NBA action since March and the Pacers played in the Eastern Conference playoffs in August.

Indiana has played remarkably well as a road favorite since 2018 and has a 17-13-2 ATS record in that situation. Indiana has won and covered in five straight games vs. the Bulls.

With all the lopsided results in the first three days of the NBA season, I am comfortable betting PACERS -4.5 (-120) for just a half-unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Chicago has been a bottom-5 in offensive efficiency since 2017 and Indiana was known for a slower pace, but these head-to-head meetings have gone Over the past three times.

In the previous 10 Pacers-Bulls games, the highest projected total was 218 for their March 2019 meeting. This total sits at 222.5 with juice on the Over. The reason for the juice is because the market sees value on the Over.

Let’s follow the market and bet OVER 222.5 (-115) for 1.5 units.
