The new soccer version of Immaculate Grid has finally dropped and it’s the best news for football fans

Footy Reference is here!

There have been NHL, NFL and NBA versions of Immaculate Grid, the daily MLB game that swept the nation that seamheads everywhere have been playing.

And now, owners Sports Reference have rolled out the version we knew was coming: Soccer fans, it’s your turn to have a daily game to enjoy.

We now have Soccer Immaculate Grid, or Immaculate Footy (love that name). Be prepared to spend your days remembering some football (soccer!) guys like you do in baseball and trying to lower your rarity score in order to have bragging rights over your friends.

The new NHL version of Immaculate Grid has finally dropped and it’s the best news

Good news for NHL fans!

Thank you, Immaculate Grid gods (or, owners Sports Reference).

We’ve gotten the NFL version and the NBA version of the MLB game everyone loves right now, and now there’s the hockey version for all you NHL puckheads out there.

The game is the same — fill out the 3×3 grid with names of players who fit the description (fun fact: The Original Six grace the first NHL Immaculate Grid). If you miss on a guess, you lose a chance to fill out all nine boxes. Yes, Jaromir Jagr played for a ton of hockey teams.

That’s it! Happy NHL Immaculate Gridding!

The new NBA version of Immaculate Grid has finally dropped and it’s the best news

NBA Immaculate Grid is here!!

We’re slowly getting official Immaculate Grid games for every sport, despite the fact that there have been NHL, NFL and NBA versions of Immaculate Grid, the daily MLB game sweeping the nation that seamheads everywhere have been playing.

The NFL game dropped recently, and now, on Tuesday, the NBA version arrived as Sports Reference continues to roll them out.

You know the drill: You have a 3×3 grid and each column and row requires you to fill in the name that fits the square — a Heat player who also played for the Suns. A 20-plus PPG scorer for the Pistons. And so on.

Have fun!

PSA: Immaculate Grid games will now drop at a new time every day starting July 26

The daily sports guessing games will start at a new time every day.

If you’re an Immaculate Grid diehard like I am — both the MLB version and the one that just dropped for the NFL — you know that it’s a joy to either play it as soon as the new one comes at midnight or first thing in the morning.

But the new owners over at Sports Reference are making a change, starting on Wednesday, July 26: They will launch new games at 9 a.m. ET every day.

Their reasoning? Per the site’s blog: “In order to provide the most reliable and supported experience for our users as we expand to multiple sports, this time change will allow the Sports Reference team more flexibility to respond to issues and feedback in a timely manner. It also allows us to stop pulling all nighters :)”

No more all nighters! See you all at 9 a.m. ET sharp, then.

The new NFL version of Immaculate Grid has finally dropped and it’s the best news

NFL Immaculate Grid is officially here!

Sure, there have been NHL, NFL and NBA versions of Immaculate Grid, the daily MLB game sweeping the nation that seamheads everywhere have been playing.

But when we heard the news that Sports Reference had bought the game, we knew that more official versions from other sports would be coming.

And on Thursday, that became a reality: We now have NFL Immaculate Grid. Be prepared to spend your days remembering some football guys like you do in baseball and trying to lower your rarity score in order to have bragging rights over your friends.

Let’s remember some Immaculate Grid guys: 9 MLB players to memorize and use to win

Let’s help you win Immaculate Grid with some MLB names to memorize.

Immaculate Grid is the MLB guessing game that’s sweeping seamhead nation, with the daily Baseball Reference-powered puzzle providing us with one giant, “hey, let’s remember some baseball guys” moment as we chase lower “rarity scores.”

With that in mind: If you’re doing the quiz daily, it probably means you could use some help to get all nine guesses right for an immaculate grid. So we’re giving you a list of some players you should memorize to help you with that ever-elusive victory. This is a combo of players who have been on a ton of teams and some who have some of the statistical achievements that are involved:

Immaculate Grid has diehard MLB fans chasing super-low ‘rarity scores’ to find lesser-known names

The more obscure the player, the better the score

This may not be news to those of you who play Immaculate Grid — the MLB guessing game that has swept the nation of seamheads and is now owned by Baseball Reference— but the most fun thing to see on Twitter now is everyone sharing their “Rarity Scores.”

That’s the score you’re given at the end of the game, showing if you chose players who other users didn’t choose as much. So if the answer to one grid box is a Giant with 500-plus home runs, you’d get a lower score for picking say, Mel Ott over Barry Bonds. Got it?

My buddy and I have traded text messages about ours (he’s beat me every time, although I just bragged about nailing Karim Garcia playing for both the New York Mets and Yankees).

Check out these mega-low scores:
