The No. 8 Washington Huskies (2-0) and Michigan State Spartans (2-0) meet Saturday at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing at 5 p.m. ET (Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Washington vs. Michigan State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Washington is ranked No. 8 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. The Huskies are coming off a 43-10 home win against Tulsa as 33-point favorites. The victory marked the Huskies’ 9th in a row. A 1st-in-the-nation passing attack (472 yards per game) has paced UW so far.

Michigan State is 2-0 with a pair of covers. The Spartans’ toughest hurdle to date this season will be how the MSU squad handles the adversity of coach Mel Tucker being suspended without pay amid allegations of sexual harassment. The Spartans have the nation’s 5th-best pass defense (107 YPG) on paper, but that’s a small-sample figure earned against suspect foes in Central Michigan and Richmond.

Washington at Michigan State picks and predictions

Prediction

Washington 34, Michigan State 20

Moneyline

Too much juice. AVOID.

Against the spread

MSU was smacked in the mouth when these teams met in Week 3 last season. The Spartans were coming off 2 easy games then, too, and were rocked back on their heels early and fell 22-0.

Coaches are always looking for an us-vs.-the-world motivation. Look for Michigan State to have that edge in this one. The Spartans won’t be able to hang in a 1-possession game unless there is some significant turnover lean to the game, but look for the MSU defense to get some defensive-zone stops in at least slowing down the UW pass game. The Spartans offense should be able to get to 17 of 21 points, and that should make for a cover.

BACK MICHIGAN STATE +16.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Washington has a dangerous offense but is not a high-plays-per-minute type. The Under was a lean early this week, but the total has dropped 2 points since Monday and is now in a no-profit range.

PASS.
