Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson will not face any criminal charges stemming from a civil suit wherein 22 women allege he committed sexual assault.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will not face criminal charges as it relates to lawsuits from 22 women who allege he committed sexual assault.

According to Sarah Barshop of ESPN, the grand jury in Harris County returned nine no bills on the nine criminal complaints, and the three-time Pro Bowler will not be prosecuted.

Johna Stallings, the division chief of adult sex crimes and trafficking at the Harris County District attorney’s office, said that they presented evidence for over six hours on the proceedings.

“Beginning at 9 o’clock this morning, we presented evidence for over six hours for the grand jury to consider, as well as having witnesses available for those persons to testify in front of the grand jury,” Stallings said. “And the grand jury considered all of that evidence and returned nine no bills against Deshaun Watson involving these nine criminal complaints. We respect the grand jury’s decision and … conclude the criminal proceedings in Harris County.”

There were 10 criminal complaints that had been filed with the Houston Police Department against Watson. The FBI conducted its own investigation. The civil suits are still ongoing and the NFL has been conducting its own parallel investigation as it relates to a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

Texans donate $10K to The 100 Club to honor fallen and injured officers

The Houston Texans have donated $10,000 to The 100 Club to help the families of fallen and injured officers in the Houston area over the past week.

The Houston Texans have made a donation of $10,000 to The 100 Club following the recent deaths and injuries to local law enforcement officers.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies corporal Charles Galloway and sergeant Ramon Gutierrez were both killed in the line of duty last week in separate incidents. Three Houston Police Department officers were also injured in a shootout in downtown on Jan. 27.

The 100 Club provides financial support to the dependents of firefighters and law enforcement officers who die or are seriously injured in the line of duty. The 100 Club’s area comprises the 32 counties surrounding the Houston area.

“We are proud to make a contribution to the 100 Club of Houston in honor of Corporal Galloway, Sergeant Gutierrez and the officers injured downtown earlier this week,” Texas chair and CEO Cal McNair said. “Our first responders are every day heroes and we are grateful for their dedication to Houston.”

The 100 Club executive director William Skeen says they are thankful from the contribution from the McNair family and the Texans.

“We appreciate the long-term support and partnership with the Houston Texans and McNair family,” Skeen said. “Their continual support of The 100 Club allows us to assist our heroes in their time of need. This donation will enable us to assist the families of our recently fallen, and seriously injured officers and firefighters. This also enables The 100 Club to fulfill our other mission of providing life protecting equipment to help keep our heroes safe.”

Rusty Hardin: 2 new women file allegations against Texans QB Deshaun Watson

Rusty Hardin, who represents Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson, says two new women have filed charges against his client.

Two new women have filed complaints against Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The women filed their allegations of sexual assault with the Houston Police Department, according to John Barr of ESPN, and are not part of the lawsuit that includes 22 women. However, eight of the 22 women in the suit similarly filed charges with the Houston Police Department, according to Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin.

“There are 10 women that have made complaints to the police,” Hardin said.

Hardin says that Watson his legal team have cooperated with the Houston Police Department and also the Harris County District Attorney’s office.

“We’re dealing with both of them, providing them information,” said Hardin. “We’re fully cooperating with the police. We’re fully cooperating with the district attorney’s office and, when the criminal investigation is over, we’ll fully cooperate with the NFL.”

The NFL, which is conducting its own investigation, has not yet spoken with Watson, and Hardin says they will fully cooperate with the league when that time comes.

Watson reported to the Texans for training camp on Sunday, and in doing so avoids a $50,000 per day fine.

The three-time Pro Bowler requested a trade from the team in January and is still adamant about that request.

According to Hardin, teams are interested to work with the Texans in acquiring his client, even amid the lawsuit and complaints filed with the police.

“Teams are ready to jump now if the Texans would trade with them, even while all this is pending,” Hardin said. “There’s no question that teams, numerous teams, are still interested. The ball is in the Texans’ court.”
