AEW Dynamite results: Omega-Vikingo delivers the goods, but Don Callis prevents a Hangman reunion

Live AEW Dynamite results for March 22, 2023, featuring a dream match between Kenny Omega and El Hijo del Vikingo.

AEW isn’t promoting this week’s Dynamite from Independence, Missouri this way, but if it wanted to, it could make an excellent claim that it has the past, present and future of pro wrestling all on one card.

The past? That’d be Sting, still going strong in the Year of Our Lord two thousand twenty-three, taking part in a six-man tag alongside Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin against The Butcher, The Blade and Kip Sabian.

The present? Take your pick. But start with Jon Moxley vs. Stu Grayson as the Blackpool Combat Club and Dark Order continue their ongoing rivalry. Plus The Outcasts are trying to stake their claim to control of the women’s division, with Toni Storm taking on Skye Blue. If that weren’t enough, Kenny Omega is going to be in a rare singles match on Dynamite.

That’s where the future comes in. As you may have heard, Omega is stepping in against El Hijo del Vikingo, the 25-year-old sensation who is revolutionizing lucha libre (which is really saying something). It’s a pairing that almost happened in late 2021, but fans will now get to see on free TV. It’s almost certain to be spectacular.

The Gunns vs. Top Flight would fall into that future category as well. It’s brothers against brothers for the tag team titles, and both teams are likely to be a factor in AEW or anywhere they go for years to come.

AEW Dynamite results in 60 seconds:

  • We start with an ambulance … or two, as someone has attacked the Young Bucks, and Hangman Adam Page rides with one of them to the hospital
  • Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin and Sting def. Kip Sabian, The Butcher and The Blade by pinfall
  • A replay of MJF’s encounter with the other pillars of AEW is played with some new commentary from all involved
  • The Gunns def. Top Flight by pinfall to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship …
  • … and accept a challenge from FTR — but if FTR loses, they must quit AEW
  • Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling have a cease and desist order for Taya Valkyrie to stop using her finisher, and Leila Grey plans on delivering it Friday on Rampage
  • Hook def. Stokely Hathaway by submission in a No Disqualification match
  • Adam Cole wants to talk about who his first opponent back will be, and Daniel Garcia talks his way into that honor … though it may be a dubious one
  • Don Callis tries to calm Kenny Omega after he saw his best friends get attacked and frames his match tonight as the return of the God of Pro Wrestling
  • Jon Moxley def. Stu Grayson by pinfall
  • Renee Paquette asks Ricky Starks what’s going on with Juice Robinson, and Absolute tells Juice to meet him on Rampage
  • The QTV crew mocks Rey Fenix and says Powerhouse Hobbs will defend his title again on Saturday; his challenger is then confirmed to be Penta
  • Toni Storm def. Sky Blue by pinfall
  • The BCC finds Grayson backstage without his Dark Order teammates and attacks him
  • Kenny Omega def. El Hijo del Vikingo by pinfall, but …
  • … the BCC attacks Omega afterward, Page comes to the rescue, and Don Callis makes it look like Hangman attacked him

Opening Bell: Roman Reigns on Raw, dream match on Dynamite

Get set for the week in WWE and AEW with Opening Bell: quick previews of Raw, SmackDown, Dynamite and Rampage.

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week we’ve just begun.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, March 20, Enterprise Center, St. Louis

The Road to WrestleMania barely has any exits left on it before Los Angeles. That means we need to start seeing the two main event superstars together, and that’s what we’ll get Monday night on Raw in St. Louis.

Cody Rhodes has done more than just challenge Roman Reigns, as he’s also played a major role in reuniting Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. That’s not great for the Bloodline, so the Tribal Chief can no longer stay silent on the matter. Reigns will “address the issue personally” this week … and you have to figure Rhodes will be on hand to hear what he has to say.

In contrast, Logan Paul has had a much easier time of it in his feud with Seth Rollins, as last time they were in the same ring together, he was able to get one over on the Visionary. On Raw, Paul will put on a live episode of “Impaulsive TV,” so we’ll see if he continues to have the mental edge or if Rollins plans to strike back in a very public way.

Austin Theory is headed for a WrestleMania showdown with John Cena, but he decided to pick a fight with the Street Profits in the meantime. The United States Champion was able to defeat Angelo Dawkins and send a message to Cena at the same time last week, but now Montez Ford will be looking for some payback in St. Louis.

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, March 22, Cable Dahmer Arena, Independence, MO

The term “dream match” arguably gets thrown around a bit too often in pro wrestling in the 2020s, but here’s one that qualifies: Kenny Omega vs. El Hijo del Vikingo. Call it present vs. future or just two of the best wrestlers in the world going at it, but this match Tony Khan tried to schedule for 2021 is finally going to happen on Dynamite.

That’s a great selling point but not the only one for this week. Stu Grayson reminded everyone last week why he was missed during his time away from AEW, and he’ll return to the ring in Missouri to take on Jon Moxley, always a tough night at the office. Skye Blue will attempt to stand up to The Outcasts when she faces Toni Storm.

Champions? Yep, Independence is getting some of those, too. After squabbling over luggage on Rampage, The Gunns will defend their tag team titles against Top Flight in a battle of brothers vs. brothers. And we’ll see if a training montage and a “good ass cookie” will help Stokely Hathaway survive in a No Disqualification match against FTW Champion Hook.

We wouldn’t bet on it. Sorry, Stoke.

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, March 24, MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas

It’s Vegas, baby! The penultimate SmackDown before WrestleMania 39 is going to be pretty physically close to L.A. as the days count down to the Showcase of the Immortals.

Speaking of LA, as in LA Knight, he still doesn’t have a match lined up for WWE’s biggest show. Nor does Rey Mysterio, even though there’s one WWE fans really want to see. We’ll see if either or both get closer to one when they collide in Vegas.

And even though Cody Rhodes is a Raw talent, his WrestleMania main event status means he’s been working both shows as his date with destiny draws near. He’ll attempt to stay busy and stay winning when he goes up against Ludwig Kaiser on SmackDown.

AEW Rampage preview – Saturday, March 25, Cable Dahmer Arena, Independence, MO (recorded March 22)

Remember when AEW Rampage didn’t get started until after midnight ET because of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament last week? Good times.

This week, it’s moving not just times but days. AEW Rampage will air on Saturday, March 25 instead of Friday (thank soccer this week instead of basketball), but AEW hasn’t officially announced any matches for it yet. You know the drill by now: Keep an eye on Dynamite and AEW’s social media accounts to get a heads up on what’s in store for this week’s Rampage.

AEW Dynamite results: Hobbs grabs the ring, Danhausen is clutch, MJF is speechless

Get live AEW Dynamite results for March 1, 2023, with the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match and Casino Tag Team Battle Royale.

Sometimes AEW just mashes the gas ahead of a pay-per-view and it’s kind of bonkers for the better part of a week. That feeling is setting in again as the Cow Palace welcomes the final AEW Dynamite ahead of Revolution this weekend.

That card, as you might have heard, will be headlined by a 60-minute Iron Man match between MJF and Bryan Danielson with the former’s beloved Triple B belt (better known as the AEW World Championship) at stake. It’s only logical, then, that both men will be on tonight’s show to have what’s certain to be one more explosive face-to-face meeting before they go to war on Sunday.

There’s also going to be a wild match tonight that is usually part of Revolution proper. Perhaps because the main event is going an hour, the Face of the Revolution Ladder match got bumped to free TV. That’s good news for anyone tuning in tonight, however, as it’s sure to be something of a spectacle.

Another Revolution bout that still needs to have its last question mark replaced is the four-way tag team championship match. We’ll find out who’s joining The Gunns, The Acclaimed and Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in that one after the Casino Tag Team Battle Royale on Dynamite.

Oh, and there are two championship matched tonight as well. Orange Cassidy gets a (very) big test in the form of Big Bill to retain his All-Atlantic Championship, while Hook puts his FTW Championship on the line against Matt Hardy.

AEW Dynamite results in 60 seconds:

  • Orange Cassidy def. Big Bill by pinfall to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Championship
  • A bloodied Jon Moxley cuts a promo after his match last week and warns Hangman Adan Page only one of them is coming out of their Texas Deathmatch
  • The Elite can’t even get through their entrance music before the lights go out and they brawl with House of Black in the dark, ending with the House holding their belts as all three men are laid out
  • Powerhouse Hobbs wins the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match, then laughs as Wardlow comes looking for Samoa Joe, to the detriment of numerous security guards
  • With Best Friends not medically cleared to compete, Danhausen and Orange Cassidy are going to take their place
  • Chris Jericho def. Peter Avalon by pinfall, then masterminds an assault by the JAS on Ricky Starks
  • Hangman Adam Page says there’s nothing else Mox can take away from him, but he plans on taking everything away from Moxley on Sunday
  • Renee Paquette calls out Christian Cage for a conversation, but his challenge to Jack Perry for a “fight” at Revolution is answered ominously
  • Jamie Hayter says it will be fun beating two opponents on Sunday, while Britt Baker seems to be looking forward to it too
  • Hook def. Matt Hardy by submission to retain the FTW Championship
  • The House of Black lays down The Elite’s titles but says the champs have already lost even before they meet Sunday
  • Riho def. Toni Storm by pinfall
  • Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes are ready to get a piece of the Mogul Affiliates on Rampage
  • Orange Cassidy and Danhausen win the Casino Tag Team Battle Royale
  • Bryan Danielson, MJF face off one more time, but it’s Danielson who gets all the last words

Please scroll down for more details on every match and major in-match segment.

Opening Bell: Pre-Revolution AEW shows, Roman Reigns scheduled for SmackDown

Get set for the week in WWE and AEW with Opening Bell: quick previews of Raw, SmackDown, Dynamite and Rampage.

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week we’ve just begun.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, Feb. 27, Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Mich.

WWE has blessed us with a lot more insight into what to expect this Monday than some weeks, when it’s like three hours before the show and there’s been one match and one other segment promoted. For Grand Rapids, there’s much more starting with a tag team title match pitting Becky Lynch and Lita against Damage CTRL. Lita with WWE gold in the Year of Our Lord 2023 would be pretty wild, but we’re close enough that it feels quite possible.

Speaking of things no one saw coming, Omos‘ challenge to Brock Lesnar falls into that same category. The Nigerian Giant is awaiting a response, so we’ll see if the Beast Incarnate shows up to give him one this week.

Who’s ready for Asuka? Carmella claims she is, but that might not actually be the case since the Empress of Tomorrow is acting spookier and more unpredictable than ever. We’ll see what’s what when they compete on Raw.

Also on tap for Grand Rapids:

  • The Miz will host a WrestleMania edition of Miz TV and perhaps discuss his own plans for the Showcase of the Immortals
  • Candice LeRae will attempt to not become the latest victim of Piper Niven

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, March 1, Cow Palace, San Francisco

Though there are no actual cows at the Cow Palace, it’s certainly a historic venue and a fitting one for the final Dynamite before Revolution. As such, it’s a loaded show that will answer who will be the Face of the Revolution with the ladder match of the same name. A bunch of big and intriguing names are in it, with Samoa Joe on commentary, so it should be fun.

Another bout that could be high on entertainment value is the Casino Tag Team Battle Royale. This one will have a direct effect on the Revolution card, as the winning team will be entered into the four-way dance for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

And if you want a final dose of dueling microphones before the PPV, you’ll get it for the biggest match on the card as MJF and Bryan Danielson will get their final say. The champ, as he is wont to do, took things too far last week, which led to punches being thrown. We’d be shocked if there wasn’t a high chance of that happening again this Wednesday.

Here’s what else AEW is promoting for Dynamite:

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, March 3, Capital One Arena, Washington D.C.

The nation’s capital plays host to SmackDown this week, and the big news is that Roman Reigns is scheduled to appear. The Tribal Chief has been sitting in the background watching drama continue to swirl around the Bloodline even after he defeated Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber. What will the champ have to say?

A pair of women’s matches have also been announced for the show. Rhea Ripley, who is pursuing the SmackDown title at WrestleMania, will battle Liv Morgan in a match that Charlotte Flair will no doubt be watching closely. Plus Ronda Rousey, who didn’t appear to know who Tegan Nox was last week, will tag with BFF Shayna Baszler to face Nox and Natalya.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, March 1, Cow Palace, San Francisco

Two nights before Revolution, AEW Rampage is live from the Cow Palace. Live editions of the show are always that little bit better than the recorded ones, and this should be no different.

No matches have been announced yet, but that could change even prior to Dynamite this week, so keep an eye on AEW’s social media accounts for some hints on what will be offered up this Friday.

AEW Rampage results: Orange Cassidy retains again

Get quick AEW Rampage results for the November 11, 2022 episode, featuring Orange Cassidy vs. Lee Johnson for the All-Atlantic Championship.

Who would have imagined that Orange Cassidy would be the hardest working champion in AEW? It doesn’t really fit his personality at all, but Freshly Squeezed is back at it again on AEW Rampage, defending his All-Atlantic Championship after several tough defenses just last week.

This time out, it’ll be Lee Johnson getting a shot at the gold. And speaking of gold, the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament was supposed to have all three of its remaining first round matches on tonight’s show. However, Ricky Starks isn’t cleared to compete, kicking his match with Lance Archer into next week.

We’ll still see two other tourney matches as Brian Cage takes on Dante Martin and Rush collides with Bandido. The winners of those matches will join Ethan Page in the semifinals after his victory on Dynamite.

Let’s check out what’s going down as we wrap up the week in AEW on TV.

AEW Rampage results in 30 seconds:

  • “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry wants to challenge Luchasaurus to a Steel Cage match face to face, but it doesn’t go so well when he ends up getting slammed onto a steel chair
  • Pac lectures the rest of Death Triangle again for not cheating like he does, saying they need to defend their trios titles by any means necessary
  • Brian Cage def. Dante Martin by pinfall in an AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament match
  • Lee Moriarty says he wants any champion in AEW … but even Stokely Hathaway loses some of his bravado when Hook shows up
  • Another promo video airs for the House of Black
  • Bandido def. Rush by pinfall in an AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament match after John Silver helped counteract interference from Jose The Assistant
  • Jake Hager made a challenge of some sort to Claudio Castagnoli
  • Nyla Rose def. Kayla Sparks by pinfall, but gets dropped by a pump kick from an angry Jade Cargill
  • Orange Cassidy def. Lee Johnson by pinfall to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Championship

Opening Bell: AEW gold on the line on Tuesday, Brock returns to Raw

Get set for the week in WWE and AEW with Opening Bell: quick previews of Raw, SmackDown, Dynamite and Rampage.

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week we’ve just begun.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, October 17, Paycom Center, Oklahoma City

What does Brock Lesnar want? That’s a valid question after the Beast Incarnate showed up unexpectedly on Raw last week and destroyed Bobby Lashley. We should get more insight into what he’s got his sights set on now when he appears live this week in OKC.

The beneficiary of Lesnar’s attack was Seth Rollins, who defeated an injured Lashley to become the new United States Champion. He’ll get little time to enjoy it, however, as he has to defend it against heated rival Matt Riddle on Raw.

Dexter Lumis has popped up more than once without warning to torment The Miz, despite not having a WWE contract. That could change after Raw, as the two men will finally go head to head in an official match, with Lumis earning a deal if he wins.

Also scheduled for this week’s episode of Raw:

AEW Dynamite preview – Tuesday, October 18, Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati

The MLB Playoffs have claimed TBS for this Wednesday evening, so Dynamite is taking over Tuesday night instead. And it’s from the hometown of AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, but he’s not going to have a restful stay at home considering he’s defending his title against Hangman Adam Page.

[listicle id=13196]

But wait, that’s only the first of four, yes four, championship matches scheduled for Dynamite. In what should be a respectful yet fierce encounter, Toni Storm puts her AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Hikaru Shida. The Ocho, Chris Jericho, will try to fend off a ROH World Championship challenge from Dalton Castle. And the Trios titles will also be up for grabs as Death Triangle defends against Best Friends and Orange Cassidy.

Phew. That is a loaded card, and we’ll also hear from MJF. Fans definitely won’t want to forget Dynamite is on a different night this week.

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, October 21, Huntington Center, Toledo, OH

Maybe Ohio is the pro wrestling center of the world for this week, as SmackDown heads to Toledo. We already know there will be a championship match on the card, as the Damage CTRL duo of Dakota Kai and IYO SKY tries to retain their titles against Shotzi and Raquel Rodriguez.

A former champion will also be in action, as Liv Morgan faces off with Sonya Deville. Liv’s Extreme Rules confrontation with Ronda Rousey seems to have changed her for good, but is it a change for the better?

[lawrence-related id=14370]

Logan Paul is also scheduled to appear on SmackDown, plus it would be strange if Bray Wyatt didn’t show up as well.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, October 21, Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, FL

Rampage is back in the spiritual home of AEW, Daily’s Place, with a couple of matches already announced. Hook is a man of few words, but he’ll try to let his actions speak for themselves as he defends his FTW Championship against Ari Daivari following Daivari’s unsuccessful attempt to simply buy the title from its holder.

And 10 of the Dark Order has been the subject of numerous recruiting efforts from Jose The Assistant. He’ll try to end them for good by battling Rush, because if 10 wins, Jose must leave him alone going forward.

AEW Rampage results: Rush might have a Hangman problem

Get quick AEW Rampage results for the September 30, 2022 episode from Philadelphia.

One thing about AEW Rampage is that it keeps things moving.

Wrestling Junkie was on hand for AEW Dynamite and Rampage in Philadelphia on Wednesday and saw it for ourselves. Yes, it still definitely feels like a ‘B’ show, but it’s tight because its only an hour, so there’s no real down time. It’s match to segment to match at a brisk pace.

The Philadelphia crowd stayed pretty live too, even though it was hanging in through more than three hours of wrestling by the end of the night. But Philly always represents, legitimately one of the best wrestling markets anywhere.

In any case, even though we’ve known for two days what would happen tonight, it’s going to be fun to watch it back and check everything out. Let’s do it up.

AEW Rampage results in 30 seconds:

  • The Acclaimed def. Private Party and The Butcher and The Blade to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship
  • The Gunn Club doubles down on their taunts to FTR form last week
  • Jade Cargill complains about her lack of competition, but maybe she’s getting some in the form of Nyla Rose
  • Lee Moriarty def. Fuego Del Sol by submission, and W. Morrissey roughs up Fuego some after the bell

  • Jamie Hayter def. Willow Nightingale by pinfall
  • Maybe Wardlow and Samoa Joe are going to stay a tag team?
  • Hook comes out to shut up Ryan Nemeth by beating him down and choking him out, and the Trustbusters leave a contract for Hook that he ignores
  • Rush def. John Silver by pinfall, Dark Order tries to stop a La Faccion Ingobernable beatdown, but it’s Hangman who finally clears the ring, throwing down with Rush and teasing a match for the future (meaning next Wednesday at Dynamite) … and then giving Jose The Assistant the Buckshot

AEW Rampage non-spoiler preview: Scissor time in Philly

Get the match rundown for AEW Rampage on Friday, September 30 without spoiling the results.

We don’t believe in spoilers here at Wrestling Junkie, even for shows taped in advance like AEW Rampage was on Wednesday night (Sept. 28) in Philadelphia.

We do, however, want to give people a taste of what to expect when they tune in at 10 p.m. on TNT (and there are places on the internet you can go if you want spoilers, no worries). Since we were at The Liacouras Center live, we’re in great position to do just that.

Without further ado, here’s a quick AEW Rampage non-spoiler preview for Friday, September 30:

AEW Rampage quick results: Best Friends bust the Trustbusters

See everything that went down in Charleston with AEW Rampage results for the August 19, 2022 episode.

One good show deserves another, right Charleston?

AEW Rampage was taped on Wednesday night, as it often is, but is certainly worth watching with a pair of championship matches on the card. Not only that, but the AEW World Trios Championship tournament continues as well, with Orange Cassidy and Best Friends in action.

Let’s not waste any time and dive right into the details.

AEW Rampage results in 30 seconds:

  • Claudio Castagnoli throws out an open challenge for his ROH World Championship, and it’s answered by Dustin Rhodes, who talks about the history the two men have together before the champ accepts
  • Ruby Soho says she and Ortiz have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on , and it a
