Florida football’s 2022 homecoming date, opponent announced

The date and opponent are set for this season’s homecoming game.

The University of Florida announced on Thursday the date for its 2022 homecoming football game, which has been scheduled against the Missouri Tigers who will swing through Gainesville on October 8. The matchup represents the second time the Gators have hosted Mizzou for its annual festivities and the first homecoming of the Billy Napier era.

The Tigers are the most recent addition to the Southeastern Conference, having been inducted into the league as its 14th member in 2012. Consequently, there was not much of a history between the two schools prior to expansion save for a lone Sugar Bowl matchup back in 1966.

Missouri currently holds the edge in the all-time series with a 6-5 record thanks to a tie-breaking 24-23 win in overtime last year that marked the end of the Dan Mullen regime. Florida has won three of the five games played in the Swamp, so hopefully, the home-field advantage as well as the raucous crowd will be enough to help propel them to victory.

The Gators have maintained the homecoming tradition dating back to 1916, according to the official website.

Homecoming at the University of Florida is a profound tradition brought about through years and years of Gator pride. UF’s first Homecoming was celebrated in 1916, and since then has evolved to be the tradition we know and love today. Since the early 1900s, Florida Blue Key has had the responsibility to put on the Homecoming events and these events have been fully student run and organized since the early 1920s.

The exact dates and times for all of the events including Gator Growl and the game itself have not been released yet.

Alabama Football names 2022 Homecoming opponent

Alabama’s 2022 Homecoming game is scheduled!

Alabama Football has announced the opponent for the University’s homecoming game for the 2022 season.

Mike Leach and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will be in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 22, but won’t get to participate in all of the Homecoming-related festivities.

Alabama’s record against Mississippi State is 841-18 with 3 ties, leaning in favor of the Crimson Tide.

Last season, Alabama took on Tennessee for the Homecoming game and won, continuing Nick Saban’s undefeated Homecoming win streak.

The Crimson Tide season will kickoff at home against Utah State and has plenty of interesting matchups on the schedule, including Texas.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Crimson Tide throughout the offseason and share any updates, reports and news regarding Alabama Football.

A complete primer for Florida’s homecoming events this weekend

Here’s a full rundown of the homecoming events this weekend.

It’s that time of year again.

Homecoming this year may have lost a bit of luster with the football team falling to 3-2 after a loss at Kentucky last weekend, but that shouldn’t stop the fans from enjoying the festivities on campus this week.

Last year, homecoming was significantly scaled-down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it returns in full force this year with all the traditions that Florida fans know and love. On the field, the Gators will look to bounce back with a game against a struggling Vanderbilt team.

Here’s a full primer for the weekend’s activities.

On Wednesday night, Clemson students building Homecoming floats on Bowman Field had a special visitor — Dabo Swinney.

Clemson’s head coach had a message for the students ahead of Saturday’s Homecoming game against Boston College at 7:30 p.m. at Death Valley.

“Is everybody coming to the game Saturday?” Swinney asked in a video from Clemson Football, which you can see below.

“We’ve got to get it rolling, man. We need to roll this thing Saturday night, now. Y’all be loud, and let’s get on these dudes, right out of the gate.”

“It’s a one-game season the rest of the way. One-game season,” Swinney added. “But y’all are awesome, y’all are awesome.”
