It is two in a row for Rutgers men’s lacrosse, with the Scarlet Knights putting together a solid performance with a 13-8 win over Hofstra.
The wet and soggy win lifts Rutgers to 4-1 (0-0 Big Ten), giving them consecutive wins after falling to Army two weeks ago. Last week, they rolled over Loyola (Maryland), a result that saw them move up one spot to No. 16 in the USILA Coaches Poll.
After a tight first quarter where Rutgers led 4-3, the floodgates opened in the second quarter. The Scarlet Knights scored five straight goals, taking a 10-4 lead into halftime.
Freshman attacker Colin Kurdyla led Rutgers with three goals, continuing his strong start to the season. Rutgers got two goals apiece from junior attacker Dante Kulas and senior attacker Ross Scott.

Scott led Rutgers with three assists.
The Scarlet Knights held a 46:33 edge in shots and 25:19 in shots on goal. Cardin Stoller, a redshirt freshman, had 11 saves in the win.

Next up for Rutgers is a Tuesday home match-up at SHI Stadium against Detroit Mercy. They then host a ranked Princeton on Sunday to close out their non-conference schedule.
All five of Rutgers’ Big Ten opponents are currently ranked.
Playing a tough schedule last year, Hofstra finished 2023 with a 5-9 record.
