Here’s everything players Coleman & Carter had to say ahead of Texas A&M basketball’s season opener vs. UCF
The Texas A&M basketball season will open on the road in Orlando when the Aggies take on UCF on Monday, Nov. 4, in Addition Financial Arena.
A veteran squad will hit the hardwood on Monday, and two players they will need a lot out of this year are Henry Coleman and Jace Carter. Both would say they could have played better last season and will step up to the challenge of a deep postseason run.
This will be the last bite of the apple for most of the current A&M roster under head coach Buzz Williams, and Coleman noted how well they have met the team’s expectations. Carter, who is from Florida, gave some insight into what it means to him to be playing back in his home state to start the season.
Ahead of Monday’s season opener vs. UCF, Coleman and Carter spoke to the media, previewing the roster and matchup before tipoff.

“It was a lot of emotion in the room… To see it pay off and for us to get that nine-seed, it really meant a lot to everyone in this room.”
The Texas A&M men’s basketball team is officially going dancing in March Madness at the NCAA Tournament.
The Aggies (20-14) are the No. 9 seed in the South Region and will play new athletic director Trev Alberts‘ former school, No. 8 Nebraska, in the first round on Friday.
After the selection show, Texas A&M players were not made available to the media but seniors, forward Henry Coleman III & guard Tyrece “Boots” Radford, spoke to 12th Man Productions about their instant reaction to the selection.
“It was a lot of emotion in the room,” Coleman said. “I think from every mom, dad, coach, to player, there was a ton of emotion in the room. Everyone has made sacrifices over this year of something whether if it be school, time away from kids or family, everyone has had to sacrifice. To see it pay off and for us to get that nine-seed, it really meant a lot to everyone in this room.”
Boots has had a challenging season on and off the court and was understandably emotional alongside his teammates when the Aggies were revealed.
“It was emotional,” Radford recalled. “A couple of my teammates were dropping tears and you could see the excitement on everybody’s face, just being ready to play.”

Buzz Williams provides several updates, including Henry Coleman III’s health during Tuesday’s press conference
Last Saturday, Texas A&M finally ended its miserable five-game losing streak, defeating Georgia on the road 70-56 behind veteran guard Tyrece Radford’s double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds), as head coach Buzz Williams’ squad finally looked like themselves.
Ahead of Wednesday’s regular season home finale vs. Mississippi State, Williams spoke to the local media to preview the matchup, heaping praise on transfer guard Jace Carter’s continued toughness through adversity. In contrast, start guard Wade Taylor, who scored a season-low 4 points against the Bulldogs, looks to get right in the final two games before the SEC Tournament.
Wednesday night will also be senior night for several starters, including Radford and forward Andersson Garcia. Garcia’s NBA potential has skyrocketed after he put together one of the better rebounding seasons in program history.
When TexAgs columnist Olin Buchanan asked if the team felt “rejuvenated” after the victory, Williams felt that “relieved” was a more accurate emotion.
“I think relieved. I thought we played with alot of good fight on Wednesday against a really good team, and I thought we had that same togetherness and connectiveness on Saturday. We were much better defensively, that helped us; they only shot six free throws, defended without fouling an kept the ball in front of us.”
Williams continued to elaborate on the team’s improvement at the free throw line and the things they do well: rebounding and driving toward the basket. Whether the Aggies still have a legitimate chance to make the NCAA Tournament if the wins continue to stack up to end the year starts with getting the job done against the Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
NOTE: Buzz Williams also noted that senior forward Henry Coleman III, who missed last Saturday’s, will be unavailable on Wednesday.

Photos: Here are some of the best photos from Saturday’s game against Georgia.
Texas A&M (16-13, 7-9 SEC) snaps their five-game losing streak by shutting down Georgia’s (15-14, 5-11 SEC) offense on Saturday for a much-needed 70-56 victory.
There is a lot of work to be done for the Aggies but a double-digit win over Georgia with Wade Taylor having his worst game of the season is a good start. Even with their loss to No. 18 South Carolina, they looked to have a little more pep in their step and knew they might not have a lot of basketball left if they didn’t tighten up.
Coach Buzz Williams was happy to see his team continue to fight while his team is fighting through a five-game losing streak.
“For us to be able to go on the road and have that same fight after losing five in a row, I’m grateful.”
NOTE: Henry Coleman did not suit up
Texas A&M will host Mississippi State at Reed Arena on Wednesday, March 6, at 8 p.m. CT.

Texas A&M keeps their NCAA Tournament hopes alive with a 70-56 win over Georgia on the road
Texas A&M (16-13, 7-9 SEC) snaps their five-game losing streak by shutting down Georgia’s (15-14, 5-11 SEC) offense on Saturday for a much-needed 70-56 victory.
The game started at a breakneck pace, with both teams trading the lead and going on runs in the first 15 minutes. Neither team shot particularly well, but the Aggies did play a little cleaner while the Bulldogs relied on the three-point shot to keep them within striking range.
Things started to tilt slightly in the Aggies’ favor as Georgia struggled to make a bucket and take a 30-29 lead with about two minutes left in the first half. Wade Taylor got into foul trouble early keeping him at bay the majority of the half, but the rest of the team was able to pick up the slack taking a slim 34-32 lead into the locker room. Tyrece Radford led A&M with 11 points while Taylor surprising went scoreless.
SECOND HALF:
Both teams struggle out of the gate, with only three made shots between them in the first five minutes. The Aggie defense kept the Bulldogs out of the paint, forcing them to shoot almost exclusively on the jump shot, where they have struggled up to this point.
A&M kept the pressure on never letting the Bulldogs a chance to close the gap and with both teams shooting poorly the Aggies hit just enough shots to maintain a ten-point lead in the final minutes of the game. Head coach Buzz Williams finally got his team back on track. I’m sure he would like to see them shoot better, but the win was a step in the right direction.
NOTE: Henry Coleman did not suit up
Below are the Aggies critical contributors from the game:
Tyrece Radford: 20 points / 10 rebounds
Manny Obaseki: 12 points / 5 rebounds
Andersson Garcia: 11 points / 10 rebounds
Georgia’s top contributors:
Jabri Abdur-Rahim: 10 points / 2 rebounds
Blue Cain: 11 points / 2 rebounds
RJ Melendez: 8 points / 4 rebounds
Texas A&M will host Mississippi State at Reed Arena on Wednesday, March 6, at 8 p.m. CT.

Texas A&M will be on the road in Athens Georgia looking for their first win since February 10 and snap their 5-game losing streak
Texas A&M (15-13, 6-9 SEC) will travel to Athens to face Georgia (15-13, 5-10 SEC) on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT.
There is a lot that needs to happen for the Aggies to make the postseason. Currently sporting a five-game losing streak with a below .500 record overall and in league play. A&M appeared to take a step in the right direction during a last-second loss to No. 18 South Carolina, which can be argued they had a chance to win if not for a controversial call at the end of the game causing A&M to reset their offense. At this point, the Aggies have to put together a string of wins to make the postseason and possibly save Coach Buzz Williams’ job.
Georgia has issues of their own going 2-8 through the last nine games. With a virtually identical record as A&M and also currently on a losing streak they want to be the ones to come out on top. A win over Texas A&M would be an injection of some confidence into the struggling team. Saturday they will have that chance to all but eliminate the Aggies from any NCAA Tournament hopes and a step towards getting back even in SEC play.
Social media reacts to Texas A&M losing a must win game to Arkansas at Reed Arena
Texas A&M’s (15-11, 6-7 SEC) fell to the Arkansas Razorbacks (13-13, 4-9 SEC) for the second time in a need-to-win situation during his season.
Have the wheels fallen off? It’s hard to tell but it certainly feels like the Aggies are headed down the road of disappointment. I’ve never seen a team with just as many Quad 1 wins as Quad 3 losses in the same season. Even with this loss, A&M is clinging to a bubble spot because of the strength of their schedule.
However, time is running out and the resume is getting ugly as the season closes out. With five games left, Coach Buzz Williams must dig into his bag of tricks to get his offense back on track. Teams are starting to key in on the high pick and smothering the guards, immediately disrupting the flow of the play and resulting in Wade Taylor and Tyrece Radford having to create their own shots.
Normally, this isn’t an issue, but when they go 8 for 23 from the field, that usually breeds failure. Couple that with the team shooting below 65% from the free-throw line; it’s just a recipe for disaster.
The fan base and media contributors were equally stunned at another loss in a winnable game, and they flocked to social to share their reactions throughout the game.
Here’s what Texas A&M players Jace Carter & Eli Lawrence had to say after devastating loss to Arkansas
Texas A&M’s (15-11, 6-7 SEC) miserable SEC skid has continued, as the Arkansas Razorbacks (13-13, 4-9 SEC) have completed the sweep over the Maroon and White, taking game 2 in College Station 78-71.
Having dropped three games in a row now and their fifth Quad 3 loss the Aggies have some work to do to make sure they can reach their goal of making the NCAA Tournament. While the team is in a downward trend Coach Buzz Williams has instilled a culture of toughness and they never stop playing hard. Jace Carter and Eli Lawrence talked about how the game did not go their way but they will bounce back.
“It is over — now what? That is kind of how you have to look at it. None of us were raised to be woe is me. That is not how we were built.” – Carter
“I feel like we definitely played our game shots just ain’t really kind of fall out we 3 for 14 got to make free throws down the stretch definitely got to do that but we definitely played our game just got to be a little bit better” – Lawrence

What a rollercoaster ride this Texas A&M basketball season has been to this point. The Aggies look exactly how they did at the beginning of the year, with their two top scorers having one of their worst combined shooting outputs of the season. Wade Taylor and Tyrece Radford couldn’t find the bucket tonight, only making eight buckets in 40 minutes. A&M is hanging on to a tournament bid by a thread, and this was really a must-win game to get them back on track.
Coach Buzz Williams started off the post-game exactly how it should have, with him taking responsibility for how the team has been playing for the past few weeks.
“At the end of the day I have to do better uh we did some good things the things that are really important to us we just didn’t do well enough, and the margin is invisible.”

Texas A&M will look to get back on track at home when the face Arkansas for the second time this season
Texas A&M (15-10, 6-6 SEC) will be back at home to face Arkansas (12-13, 3-9 SEC) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT.
After the Aggies looked to have turned things around after a big win over a top-ten Tennessee team, they dropped a heartbreaker to Vanderbilt followed by a blowout loss to No. 15 Alabama. Coach Buzz Williams is usually pretty good at steering his team back on track after a tough loss and they need a strong showing in the last six-game stretch before tournament play starts.
Arkansas is on their own two-game losing streak, but they are catching an A&M that either bad skid or is about to have one of those patented Buzz-fueled end-of-season turnarounds. Either way they are on the outside looking in just trying to play spoiler for the remaining team on the schedule
