Prediction
Lakers 109, Heat 106
Money line (ML)
The LAKERS (-334) are big money line favorites for the fifth straight contest and it’s easy to understand why. The Lakers are just one game away from clinching the NBA title and have lost a total of four playoff games during this run.
While Miami has been fantastic, Los Angeles is the far superior team. The odds are a bit chalky so feel free to stay away from the money line if it presents too much risk; however, the Lakers can be taken with confidence as they look to close out this series in their “Black Mamba” jerseys.
Line/Against the spread (ATS)
The HEAT +7.5 (-106) are three-basket underdogs. Miami has been great against the spread of late, covering in four of its previous five games. Los Angeles will want to set the early tempo in this game, but don’t expect Miami to just give away the title.
Look for the Heat to play highly competitive and spirited basketball once again in this contest. Expect the Lakers to win this game, but for the Heat to make it a one or two-possession contest late in the fourth quarter.
Over/Under (O/U)
The total for Game 5 of the 2019-2020 NBA Finals is set at 216.5, which feels about right considering how the last game of this series went. Both teams are figuring out one another on the defensive end and making offense significantly harder.
With the Lakers on the verge of winning the title, expect some nerves and shooting woes to open this game. Both defenses will be locked-in as these are two of the smartest and well-coached defensive teams in the NBA.
Take the UNDER 216.5 (-110) as both teams will struggle to approach 110 points.
