Two bills were introduced in 2019, but were struck down. HB 1254, sponsored by Republican Congressman Jason Dockter, would have permitted charitable gaming organizations to offer wagers on sports. However, the head of the North Dakota University system opposed the bill after meeting with campus presidents. The House in Bismarck defeated legislation on that bill and another limiting bets to just professional sports, too.
