New Mexico State at Hawaii odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State Aggies at Hawaii Rainbow Warriors odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-6, Independent) travel to meet the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (3-4, 1-2 Mountain West) Saturday at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:59 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Hawaii odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Aggies have won just once in seven outings this season, but they’re cover kings for bettors. New Mexico State is 5-1 ATS across the past six contests while hitting the Over in four of the previous five.

The Rainbow Warriors lost on the mainland in Nevada, 34-17, snapping a modest two-game win and three-game cover streak. The Under has connected in each of the past four outings for Hawaii.

New Mexico State at Hawaii odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawaii 38, New Mexico State 30

Money line

Hawaii (-850) is a good bet at home in this battle between former WAC combatants. New Mexico State (+550) has a rather powerful offense, but the defense is awful. Still, laying eight and a half times your potential return is risky business.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +18.5 (-112) is worth a look, as QB Jonah Johnson and the Aggies offense are powerful enough to be able to compete with many teams. The Aggies haven’t won a lot of games, but they have covered five of the past six.

Over/Under

OVER 62.5 (-107) is the lean in this one. New Mexico State has hit the Over in four of the previous five outings, but it has a lot to do with the defense being so poor.

New Mexico State has allowed 461.6 total yards per game to rank 120th in the nation, and it has coughed up 37.1 points per game to rank 123rd out of 130 FBS teams.

Hawaii at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (3-3, 1-1 MWC) travel to meet the Nevada Wolf Pack (4-1, 1-0) Saturday at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawaii vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Rainbow Warriors might come in with a .500 record overall, but Hawaii is brimming with confidence after a 27-24 win over Fresno State as 11.5-point underdogs last week in the islands. Hawaii is averaging 34.0 PPG across the past two, while going 3-0 ATS in three straight.

The Wolf Pack worked over a subpar New Mexico State team last week, winning 55-28. Nevada took its foot off the gas in the late stages, turning a convincing 52-7 lead into a backdoor cover for NMSU.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Hawaii at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 41, Hawaii 24

Money line

Nevada (-650) is going to win this game behind its NFL prospect QB Carson Strong, but laying six-and-a-half times your potential return is not a good long-term betting strategy.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

NEVADA -13.5 (-120) is a strong play, especially after this line dipped from a flat 14. I could see the Wolf Pack winning by exactly two touchdowns, so that extra half-point makes a difference.

The Wolf Pack have a great offense capable of housing it through the air on every touch. Nevada ranks 7th in the nation with 357.0 passing yards per game, and it’s 22nd in the country with 36.8 PPG.

Over/Under

OVER 60.5 (-115) is a good play based on the passing games of each of these teams. Nevada has a pass-happy offense, with only an occasional run. Hawaii also has a strong pass attack with QB Chevan Cordeiro, and Over bettors love passing teams. Passes stop the clock and allow for more plays, while running teams keep the clock rolling to help Under bettors. Two passing teams are great for the prospects of Over bettors.

Fresno State at Hawaii odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Fresno State at Hawaii odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 21 Fresno State Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0 Mountain West) and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-3, 0-1) meet Saturday at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Fresno State vs. Hawaii odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Bulldogs failed to cover for the first time last week, edging a poor UNLV team 38-30. The Over hit for the third consecutive week for Fresno State, and it has scored 38 or more points in each of its four victories.

The Rainbow Warriors have covered each of the past two after going 0-3 ATS to start. In its three losses, Hawaii has averaged 16.7 PPG. In its two victories, the Warriors have managed 45.0 PPG.

Fresno State at Hawaii odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Fresno State 41, Hawaii 27

Money line

Fresno State (-410) will cost you more than four times your potential return, and that’s dangerous even for a talented side like the Bulldogs. Trips to the islands can go sideways for teams.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

FRESNO STATE -10.5 (-115) are a good bet to bounce back after a surprisingly close shave against UNLV last week. The Bulldogs have a tremendous offense with QB Jake Haener, WR Jalen Cropper, RB Ronnie Rivers, etc.

Look for Fresno State to roll up plenty of offense in the islands and grab the cover.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 64.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play as this Fresno State offense has been on fire. The Bulldogs are averaging 42.0 PPG, which ranks 13th in the nation, and they’re third overall with 397.6 passing yards per outing. This team can put up points in rather quick fashion, too.

Hawaii at New Mexico State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at New Mexico State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-3) meet the New Mexico State Aggies (1-3) Saturday at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M. Kickoff is schedule for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawaii vs. New Mexico State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Rainbow Warriors return to the mainland, and they hope the third time is a charm. Hawaii lost 44-10 at UCLA in Week 1 Aug. 28, and 45-27 at Oregon State Sept. 11, failing to cover in each. Hawaii did pick up its first cover last week in a 17-13 loss to San Jose State in the islands.

The Aggies started the season 0-3 SU, but they have been a friend of the bettor. New Mexico State won 43-35 against South Carolina State last week, and they’re 3-0 ATS across the past three outings after a loss and non-cover in Week 1 against UTEP.

Hawaii at New Mexico State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawaii 34, New Mexico State 23

Money line

The third time should be a charm for Hawaii (-900), as it gets its first win on the mainland after two failed trips. However, don’t risk nine times your potential return.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +17.5 (-115) is the play at home. They’re not going to win this game, but in the previous two weeks they have shown an ability to move the ball.

The problems for the Aggies are on defense, where they allow 450.5 yards per game and 274.3 passing yards per contest. That’s why they won’t win as Hawaii QB Chevan Cordeiro should finally be able to get on track. Still, the Aggies have covered three in a row, and they’ll hang around within two scores.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

The UNDER 62.5 (-115) is the play here as Hawaii’s offense just hasn’t been the same as years past. They could have some much-needed success against New Mexico State as its defense has struggled.

There is just something missing from these Rainbow Warriors on the offensive side of the football, and their defense was surprisingly effective last week against a solid San Jose State offense. Therefore, the Under is the play.

Hawaii at Oregon State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at Oregon State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

It’s a late-night affair Saturday in Corvallis, Ore., as the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-1) and Oregon State Beavers (0-1) face off at 11 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawaii at Oregon State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Hawaii’s opening week loss to UCLA in Week Zero doesn’t look as bad given the Bruins’ win over LSU last Saturday. The Rainbow Warriors came out sharp in their second game and scored 28 first-quarter points against Portland State en route to a 49-35 win. QB Chevan Cordeiro threw for 305 yards with 3 TD.

Oregon State dropped its opener 30-21 at Purdue. The Beavers didn’t run the ball well as their top two RBs combined for just 51 yards on 15 carries, but the offense looked better once QB Chance Nolan (10-for-16, 157) replaced starter Sam Noyer in the third quarter. They gave up 401 total yards, including over 313 through the air, which could be a problem against a Hawaii team that likes to throw.

Hawaii at Oregon State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oregon State 34, Hawaii 27

Money line

A small-unit value-based play on HAWAII (+340) to pull off the upset makes sense given the extra game under its belt and Oregon State’s mediocre debut.

Against the spread

Neither of these two teams has fared well against the spread recently; Hawaii has dropped its last four while Oregon State has lost its last three. With some uncertainty around the Beavers’ passing game, look for HAWAII +12.5 (-108) to score enough points to keep this close.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

Hawaii has hit the Under in three of its last four games and given the Beavers’ slow start in the running game, go with the UNDER 64.5 (-115) in this one.

Portland State at Hawaii odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Portland State at Hawaii odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland State Vikings and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors meet Saturday at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:59 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Portland State vs. Hawaii odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Portland State played just one game in the spring and was drummed 48-7 at Montana. At least the Vikings will be used to the quiet of a smattering of fans, as they have played in front of just 4,569 total fans since the end of the 2019 season. The Ching Athletics Complex has a capacity of only 9,000.

Hawaii (0-1) plays games at its practice facility due to issues with Aloha Stadium, and the Warriors are expected to be displaced through at least the 2022 season. The fans haven’t been what has marooned teams visiting the islands, it’s the travel. That isn’t changing, so expect Hawaii to still enjoy a home-field advantage of sorts.

The Rainbow Warriors were hammered 44-10 on the road against UCLA in its opener on the mainland. Look for QB Chevan Cordeiro and the home side to be much different here.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Portland State +25.5 (-112) | Hawaii -25.5 (-108)

Portland State at Hawaii odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawaii 45, Portland State 17

Money line

The way Hawaii (-2500) looked last week, you can’t risk 25 times your potential return. You can’t really do that, anyway. Over the long haul, it’s a losing betting strategy.

AVOID.

Against the spread

HAWAII -25.5 (-108) is back in the islands, and it gets an FCS opponent in Portland State to take out frustrations from Week 0.

The Rainbow Warriors had tremendous difficulty against UCLA last week but expect plenty of wide-open spaces and big plays in their home opener. Cordeiro and the Rainbow Warriors will get the passing offense rolling.

Over/Under

OVER 56.5 (-115) is a great play and the Rainbow Warriors have the potential to take care of a huge chunk of the Over on their own. They’ll roll up huge offensive totals against the undermanned Vikings, sending them back to the mainland with an L in a higher-scoring game.

Hawaii at UCLA odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at UCLA matchup, with college football odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and UCLA Bruins begin the 2021 season Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawaii vs. UCLA odds and lines, and make our best college football picks, predictions and bets.

Hawaii heads to the mainland to kick off its 2021 season. The Warriors won just one of three regular-season trips to the mainland last season. Although, they did cap off their season with a win in the New Mexico Bowl against Houston.

UCLA has dropped nine consecutive non-conference games dating back to Sept. 9, 2017, going 1-8 ATS during the span. That last non-conference victory was against Hawaii, 56-23, at the Rose Bowl.

Hawaii at UCLA odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 48, Hawaii 27

Money line

UCLA (-1000) hasn’t had a lot of success outside of the conference in recent years, but hope springs eternal in 2021. The Bruins are expected to take a big step forward this season under head coach Chip Kelly. Still, you can’t risk 10 times your potential return.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

The way to go is playing UCLA -17.5 (-112), despite its 1-8 ATS mark across the past nine non-conference outings. The Bruins have a tremendous one-two punch in RBs Brittain Brown and Zach Charbonnet, and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson should be able to roll up some big numbers against a Hawaii +17.5 (-108) defense that will be just so-so.

The Warriors should hang with the Bruins for the first half, but look for UCLA to pull away in the final 30 minutes.

Over/Under

The OVER 68.5 (-108) is the lean, although you likely will be sweating it out until the fourth quarter. UCLA’s DTR and Hawaii QB Chevan Cordeiro should put up big passing numbers to help Over bettors cash.

New to college football betting?

The Bruins are moderate home favorites with an implied win probability of 87.50%. Their -700 money line odds can be expressed as a fraction of 1/7 or a decimal of 1.142. UCLA will need to win by 18 or more points in order to cover the spread.

The Rainbow Warriors must lose by 17 or fewer points, or win outright, in order to cover the spread. Their +470 odds represent an implied win probability of 17.54%.

The Rainbow Warriors and Bruins must combine to score 69 or more points for a bet on the Over 68.5 to cash. A point total of 68 or fewer points is a win for the Under. The odds price the Under as the more likely result on the projected total.

  • This is only the third bowl game Hawaii has played away from the islands and first since 2008.

Hawaii vs. Houston: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawaii 35, Houston 31

Money line (ML)

Both teams were middling during the season. Houston is very productive offensively, averaging 155.3 rushing yards and 268.1 passing yards per game. Hawaii gives up 231.5 rushing yards per game but only 190.6 yards per game through the air.

However, Hawaii moves the ball well and Houston gives up almost 420 yards per game. This should be a shootout and more or less a tossup. That will make the money line tough to bet.

But, because of the potential payout, taking HAWAII +310 is worth a wager as I anticipate a close game. It is not a high confidence pick, but it is worth the value.

Against the spread (ATS)

Hawaii was 3-5 ATS and Houston 3-4 ATS this season. With both teams with strong offenses and poor defenses, both teams should light up the scoreboard. Take HAWAII +10.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is high at 60.5 but Houston’s games average 64.9 points per game. Houston will be missing two top defenders in LB Grant Stuard and DL Payton Turner, both whom opted out of the game to prepare for he NFL draft. I anticipate a high-scoring game with both teams in the 30s. Take OVER 60.5 POINTS (-110).

The UNLV Rebels (0-5, 0-5 MWC) travel to meet the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (3-4, 3-4) Saturday for an 11 p.m. ET kickoff in Honolulu at Aloha Stadium. Below, we analyze the UNLV-Hawaii college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

  • Money line: UNLV +700 (bet $100 to win $700) | Hawaii -1200 (bet $1,200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: UNLV +18 (-110) | Hawaii -18 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

UNLV at Hawaii: Three things to know

  1. The Rebels have been a disaster so far this season, losing each of their five outings by at least 13 points. That includes a 45-14 beatdown at home from Wyoming. So far they’re 0-4-1 ATS, and they have allowed at least 34 points in every outing to date.
  2. It has been a mixed bag for Hawaii this season, as they have had some glimpses of brilliance, and a few ugly showings, too. They topped Nevada 24-21 in the islands on Nov. 28, winning outright as seven-point ‘dogs, but also have an ugly 34-10 loss at San Diego State on Nov. 14, and a 31-7 loss at Wyoming on Oct. 30. The offense has been much more consistent of late, however, averaging 26.7 PPG over the past three.
  3. The favorite has connected in four of the past five meetings in this series, with the Over hitting in four of the previous five head-to-head battles in the islands.

UNLV at Hawaii: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawaii 38, UNLV 13

Money line (ML)

Hawaii (-1200) will cost you 12 times your potential return, which means a $100 wager would net a profit of just $8.33. That’s not a smart decision. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

HAWAII -18 (-110) is worth a roll of the dice against the number, as the offense has looked much better in recent weeks. UNLV +18 (-110) has been disjointed all season, and it’s hard to imagine them hanging with the high-octane Rainbow Warriors for 60 minutes. The Rebels just want to get this season over with at this point.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 58.5 (-110) is the play in this one. The only concern is UNLV’s defense, and if they can stop Hawaii’s offense. But the Rainbow Warriors haven’t been as prolific as in recent seasons.

Still, UNLV yields 38.0 PPG, ranking 116th in the country, and they have been trampled in the run game, coughing up 250.4 yards per outing on the ground. Go lightly on the Under.
