On Friday night, the Huskers played their first match ranked No. 1 in the nation since August 2022. Nebraska hosted Maryland for a Friday night matchup and represented being No. 1 immensely. The Huskers swept the Terrapins, earning their 20th straight win of the season.

Nebraska held Maryland to a hitting percentage of .023, getting just 21 kills off 88 attacks. The Huskers, meanwhile, finished the match with 44 kills off 86 attacks and earned five service aces.

Freshman Harper Murray led Nebraska in the win, putting up 16 kills off 30 attacks. Merritt Beason also finished the night with double-digit kills, going 10 off 21. Defensively, four players for Nebraska snatched nine or more digs in the win. Bergen Reilly finished with 10 digs for the Huskers, while Beason, freshman Laney Choboy and Lexi Rodriguez each had nine. Reilly also finished with 34 set assists.

As mentioned before, Nebraska earned its 20th straight win to remain undefeated. This makes it Nebraska’s best start to a season since 2008, where it also went 20-0 before suffering its first loss. The Huskers will remain home to take on Rutgers on Saturday night. The match is set for 7:30 p.m. and can be viewed on B1G+.

The Huskers hit the road for a Wednesday night matchup with Northwestern. Nebraska dominated the match (25-15, 25-16, 25-21), earning its 11th sweep and 18th straight win of the season.

On offense, the Huskers served nine aces, along with 45 kills off 86 attacks for a season-high hitting percentage of .395. This overshadowed Northwestern, as it finished with 26 kills off 85 attacks.

Merritt Beason and freshman Harper Murray both finished with double-digit kills for Nebraska, combining for 23 off 48 attacks. Beason also finished with seven digs, three blocks, two set assists and a service ace. Murray delivered four digs and a season-high four service aces.

Bekka Allick and freshman Andi Jackson each performed tremendously, combining for 16 kills off 19 attacks. Both just missed a perfect attack percentage in the win, with Allick going nine-of-10 and Jackson going seven-of-nine.

Freshman Bergen Reilly and Lexi Rodriguez rounded out the team’s performance. Reilly finished the match with 38 assists, along with six digs and two service aces. Rodriguez snatched nine digs, two service aces and a set assist.

Nebraska is now 18-0 on the season and will return home to take on No. 1 Wisconsin on Saturday night. The match is set for 7 p.m. and can be viewed on Big Ten Network.

The Huskers concluded their weekend of matches by squaring off with No. 13 Penn State.

The Huskers concluded their weekend of matches by squaring off with No. 13 Penn State. The Nittany Lions came into Lincoln with a nine-game winning streak, but Nebraska snapped it with a clean sweep (25-22, 25-22, 25-19).

The Huskers battled with Penn State throughout the match and came out on top in each set. Nebraska finished the match with 46 kills off 108 attacks. The Nittany Lions finished with just 32 kills off 111 attacks.

Merritt Beason, Lindsay Krause and freshman Harper Murray acted as the Huskers’ driving force. The trio combined for 36 kills off 85 attacks and 15 digs. Beason and Krause both racked up 13 kills while Murray delivered 10.

Freshman Bergen Reilly put together another big performance as the team’s setter, finishing with 33 assists. Lexi Rodriguez also delivered as libero, putting up a season-high 18 digs in the win.

Nebraska is now 17-0 and will hit the road once again for its next match. The Huskers will travel to Illinois to take on Northwestern. The match is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday and can be viewed on B1G+.

The Huskers wrapped up their weekend road trip to Michigan with a showdown against the Wolverines on Saturday night.

The Huskers wrapped up their weekend road trip to Michigan with a showdown against the Wolverines on Saturday night. Nebraska battled Michigan early throughout the match, but they went on to complete the sweep in dominating fashion (29-27, 25-17, 25-14).

Nebraska overshadowed the Wolverines, ending the night with 48 kills off 105 attacks compared to Michigan’s 30 kills off 98 attacks. Lindsay Krause led Nebraska in the match, finishing with a season-high 15 kills off 27 for a hitting percentage of .519.

Freshman Harper Murray and Merritt Beason joined Krause in the festivities. Murray tallied up 13 kills off 26 attacks while Beason delivered 10 kills off 25 attacks. Murray also finished the match with 11 digs. Bergen Reilly continued her strong freshman year as the team’s setter, putting up 40 assists in the win. Lexi Rodriguez led the team in digs, snatching 16 in the win.

The team is now 15-0, continuing its best start since 2008. Nebraska will return home to face off against Michigan State on Friday night. The match is set for 6 p.m. and can be viewed on Nebraska Public Media and B1G+.

Three Nebraska volleyball players have received weekly Big Ten honors.

Three Nebraska volleyball players have received weekly Big Ten honors. Merritt Beason was named the Big Ten Player of the Week.

This is the second time that Beason has won the Player of the Week award. Bergen Reilly was named co-Big Ten Setter of the Week for the second week in a row.

Harper Murray was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. That is the third time that Murray has won Freshman of the Week for the conference.

Nebraska is currently 13-0 on the season with a 4-0 record in the Big Ten. The Huskers will take the court on Friday at Michigan State.

The Nebraska volleyball team wrapped up its two-day trip to Indiana with a Saturday night showdown against the Indiana Hoosiers.

The Nebraska volleyball team wrapped up its two-day trip to Indiana with a Saturday night showdown against the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers had a strong front, winning the first set and hanging with Nebraska in the second set.

But after the Huskers won the second set, they never looked back, winning the following two sets and the match (23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-19). Nebraska is now 13-0, making it the best start to the season for the team since 2008.

The Huskers dominated in the match offensively, finishing with 65 kills, 22 more than Indiana, despite each team delivering nearly the same amount of attacks. Merritt Beason and freshman Harper Murray combined for 39 kills off 73 attacks and 17 digs. Beason finished as Nebraska’s leader in kills with a career-high 22 in the match.

Freshman Bergen Reilly surpassed 50 assists in a match once again, reaching 53 in the win. Libero Lexi Rodriguez led the defense, finishing with 18 total digs.

The team’s next match will be on the road in East Lansing, Michigan, to face off against Michigan State on Friday night. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. and can be viewed on B1G+.

Nebraska volleyball kicked off the first of four straight road matches with a trip to West Lafayette, Indiana, to take on No. 17 Purdue on Friday night. For the first time this season, the Huskers’ went to a full five sets (23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 15-12) to move to 12-0 on the season.

The match saw a total of 314 attacks in a five-set faceoff, with Nebraska standing at 161 while Purdue put up 153. But while each team’s total attacks were within single digits of each other, their total kills weren’t. The Huskers racked up 74 total kills in the win, while Purdue finished with 60.

Freshman Harper Murray and Merritt Beason finished one and two in kills and attacks for Nebraska, combining for 40 kills off 90 attacks. The duo also combined for 19 digs and seven blocks. Freshman Bergen Reilly finished as the team’s leader in assists with 54. She also put up 12 digs and five kills off nine attacks. Finally, freshman Laney Choboy led the team in digs, providing 14 on the night.

With the Huskers at 12-0, another win will give them the best start since 2008. Nebraska will remain in Indiana as it travels to Bloomington to face the Hoosiers Saturday night. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. and can be viewed on the Big Ten Network.

The Nebraska volleyball team began its conference portion of the 2023 season, kicking off with a showdown at home against No. 21 Ohio State Friday night.

The Nebraska volleyball team began its conference portion of the 2023 season, kicking off with a showdown at home against No. 21 Ohio State Friday night. The Huskers swept the Buckeyes (25-14, 25-16, 25-21) to move to 10-0, making it their best start since 2016.

Nebraska dominated Ohio State throughout the night, holding it 27 kills off 89 attacks for a hitting percentage of .090. The Huskers, meanwhile, put up 42 kills off 93 attacks for a hitting percentage of .333. They also finished the match with 37 digs and 11 blocks.

Merritt Beason and Harper Murray led the way in Nebraska’s win, both on offense and defense. The duo combined for 25 kills off 50 attacks and 17 digs. Bergen Reilly once again led the Huskers in assists, finishing the match with 37.

This commanding performance by Nebraska gave them the early advantage, as it went up 2-0 by holding Ohio State to just 30 combined points. Though the Buckeyes stuck with the Huskers throughout a majority of the third set, the Huskers managed to pull away to complete their seventh sweep of the season.

Nebraska will remain home for the weekend as it welcomes No. 12 Minnesota. The match is set for Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and can be viewed on Big Ten Network.

Murray named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

On Monday, A Nebraska volleyball player was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

On Monday, A Nebraska volleyball player was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Outside hitter Harper Murray won the award after helping the Huskers to a 3-0 record at the Ameritas Player Challenge.

Murray averaged 3.67 kills per set with a .343 hitting percentage. She also had 2.33 digs per set, six blocks, five aces, and four set assists. The Husker was named the No. 1 ranked recruit in the class of 2023 by PrepVolleyball.com.

Murray will wear No. 27 this season to honor her father, Vada Murray. Vada played at Michigan from 1988-1990. He tragically passed away in 2011 after a long battle with advanced-stage lung cancer.

A freshman on the Nebraska volleyball team has earned a prestigious award. Harper Murray has been named the 2023 USA TODAY HSSA National Girls Volleyball Player of the Year.

The Husker was named the No. 1 ranked recruit in the class of 2023 by PrepVolleyball.com. As a senior in high school, she had 726 kills, 409 digs, 86 aces, and a .405 hitting percentage.

Murray will wear No. 27 this season to honor her father, Vada Murray. Vada played at Michigan from 1988-1990. He tragically passed away in 2011 after a long battle with advanced-stage lung cancer.
