Sean McVay is ‘really excited’ about Rams being on ‘Hard Knocks’

Sean McVay is looking forward to having “Hard Knocks” cameras at camp.

The Los Angeles Rams didn’t have to appear on “Hard Knocks.” They weren’t one of the teams that could’ve been forced to appear on HBO’s award-winning series after making the playoffs in 2018.

Yet, they – along with the Chargers – will be the focal point of the show this summer after voluntarily agreeing to be featured. Jared Goff probably isn’t thrilled after voicing his displeasure from the Rams’ last appearance in 2016, but Sean McVay doesn’t seem to mind having the cameras around.

After the official announcement was made Thursday, McVay said he’s excited about having “Hard Knocks” in camp this year.

“We are looking forward to having Hard Knocks in our camp this year,” he said. “Hard Knocks always offers a rare opportunity for our fans to see our players’ hard work to prepare for the season, as well as gives them a peek behind the curtain to observe these guys off the field, too.  This year will be special because the show will also get an unprecedented look at SoFi Stadium, Stan Kroenke’s vision for professional football in L.A.”

On a conference call with reporters, McVay added that he and the Rams are “really excited” to appear on the show with the Chargers. He did have one disclaimer, though: Chargers coach Anthony Lynn is going to win the award for being more charismatic.

McVay was still with the Redskins when the Rams last appeared on “Hard Knocks,” as he was hired the following offseason. Hopefully he understands just how much access camera crews are given, because based on the way Goff made it sound, the cameras are always rolling.

The format of the show could be different than in years past, not only because two teams will headline it, but because of social distancing protocols and the possibility that training camp will be pushed back.

Rams and Chargers to be featured on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’

It’s the first time ever that two teams will be featured on “Hard Knocks.”

The Los Angeles Rams will officially be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” this year, but they won’t be the only team on the show. The Chargers will also be on it, making this the first time ever that two teams will headline the series.

It was previously reported that the Rams and Chargers would be selected, but on Thursday, that news became official thanks to an announcement from NFL Films. The series will begin on Aug. 11 on HBO.

This is the second time in the last four years that the Rams have been featured on “Hard Knocks,” with their first appearance coming in 2016. That was Jared Goff’s rookie year and the team’s first season back in Los Angeles.

This was the perfect opportunity for HBO to have two teams on the show, given the timing. Both the Rams and Chargers got new uniforms, will be moving into a new stadium and there are plenty of storylines surrounding both teams with Philip Rivers and Todd Gurley both gone.

The format of the show will be something to watch, given the current circumstances with the coronavirus pandemic. If training camp doesn’t happen in July, there’s no telling what will be on the show.

Chargers, Rams to be featured on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’

The Los Angeles Chargers and Rams get the spotlight.

It’s official.

The Chargers and Rams are set to be the teams that will be featured in this year’s “Hard Knocks”. The series will begin on Aug. 11.

The HBO television show, which has been a hit for almost two decades, follows team(s) through training camp and preseason.

This will mark the Bolts’ first appearance. For the Rams, this will mark their second appearance on the show. They were last on in 2016.

This is the perfect year to have both Los Angeles teams featured as they prepare to open SoFi Stadium this year, their brand new stadium in Inglewood, CA.

There will be plenty of storylines to follow for the Chargers as this will be the first season in 14 years with someone other than Philip Rivers under center.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the format of the show remains to be seen. If there is no training camp, it’ll be interesting to see how both teams are still showcased while making it entertaining for viewers.

Bucs cutting K Roberto Aguayo was one of the most heartbreaking moments in ‘Hard Knocks’

Take a look back at one of the most heartbreaking moments during the Bucs’ appearance on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”

With Adam Schefter reporting earlier this week that it both the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers would be the teams designated to appear on HBO’s popular “Hard Knocks” — the first time two franchises have appeared at once — ESPN took a look back at some of the top moments in the show’s history.

That, of course, includes the Buccaneers’ appearance on the show back in 2017. It was a rare treat for fans and even HBO brass as the Bucs were coming off a surprise 9-7 campaign in 2016 and seemed poised to make a postseason push. Rarely does the show chronicle a team coming off a successful season. Usually, we are stuck with teams coming off an abysmal year, like the Cleveland Browns in 2018, who were fresh off a 2017 season in which they went 0-16.

While Jameis Winston certainly had his memorable moments during the Bucs’ “Hard Knocks” season, it was the cutting of kicker Roberto Aguayo that was the most heartbreaking moment.

Aguayo was a second round pick by the Bucs in the 2016 NFL draft, but struggled in his rookie season. Things didn’t go better in the 2017 preseason. Aguayo’s misses earned the ire of coach Dirk Koetter, and he was cut from the team.

Take a look at the moment below.

Broncos won’t be featured on ‘Hard Knocks’ this year

The NFL has picked two teams to be featured on ‘Hard Knocks’ this summer.

The Broncos were eligible to be featured on Hard Knocks this year but it sounds like NFL Films and HBO are going in a different direction.

For the first time in the show’s history, Hard Knocks is expected to follow two teams through training camp this summer (assuming there will be training camps at all this year).

NFL Films is planning to follow both the Rams and Chargers this summer, according to a report from ESPN (via Rams Wire). The Rams were also featured on the show leading up to the 2016 season.

Both teams will be preparing to move into SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and HBO appears set to capitalize on the hype around the two clubs.

Denver has been approached about volunteering for the Hard Knocks in previous years and turned down the opportunity. Unless the league forces the Broncos, the team probably won’t be featured on the show anytime soon.

NFL fans aren’t happy about the Rams and Chargers reportedly being chosen for Hard Knocks

NFL fans seem extremely upset over Hard Knocks

Having your favorite football team show up on HBO’s Hard Knocks has never really been considered a great thing.

First, it means they probably weren’t good last year. They probably missed the playoffs by a thread or were one of the worst teams in the league. And they’ve probably got a high profile rookie people are looking forward to watching because they had a high draft pick because, well, they stunk.

Plus, on top of all that, NFL players seem to generally hate being on television in the middle of training camp.

Yet, still, for some reason, there are a bunch of NFL fans weirdly upset that their team won’t be featured this year.

This year’s Hard Knocks will be an all-LA extravaganza featuring the Chargers and Rams, according to a report from Adam Schefter.

There were a bunch of fans on Twitter calling for different teams to be featured.

Then, there was another bunch of (more reasonable) fans complaining that they had to watch the Rams again. They were also featured in 2016 ahead of Jared Goff’s rookie season.

Maybe they’ll pick differently next year, y’all. Who knows?

Although, with the way things are now because of coronavirus, there might not even be a Hard Knocks to complain about this summer. We’ll see.

Report: Chargers, Rams planned for HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’

This will make out to be must-watch television.

HBO’s “Hard Knocks”, which features various team’s training camp and preseason action, has been a hit for years now.

This year’s is slated to be in the City of Angels.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league wants to supersize “Hard Knocks” and follow both Los Angeles-based teams as they prepare to open SoFi Stadium this year.

No official announcement has been made because of the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chargers enter this upcoming season in an interesting position. Even though their roster is loaded with talent, this will be the first season in 14 years with someone other than Philip Rivers under center.

This would be the Bolts’ first appearance. For the Rams, this would mark their second appearance on the show. They were last on in 2016.
