How to watch No. 7 LSU women’s basketball host Jacksonville in non-conference finale on Saturday night

LSU looks to close out its non-conference slate on a high note.

LSU will take a 12-game winning streak into the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Saturday night as it hosts Jacksonville in what will be the final non-conference matchup of the season before the start of SEC play.

The Dolphins have had a rough season and sit at 4-8 on the year. They’ve dropped their last three contests, including a blowout loss against Alabama their last time out.

The extended holiday break provided enough time for [autotag]Hailey Van Lith[/autotag] to recover from plantar fasciitis, and she’s expected to make her return to the court after missing the previous four games.

Here’s everything you need to know as the Tigers wrap up non-conference play against JU.

Hailey Van Lith reportedly out for LSU vs. McNeese Tuesday night

Hailey Van Lith will miss her second straight game as she battles a foot injury.

LSU’s women’s basketball team is a colossal favorite heading into a Tuesday night home matchup against McNeese, but it will be without one of its top players.

According to a report from WAFB’s Jacques Doucet, [autotag]Hailey Van Lith[/autotag] will miss her second straight game as she deals with a foot injury. Van Lith also missed Sunday’s 83-53 win over Louisiana.

Junior guard [autotag]Last-Tear Poa[/autotag] is likely to make her fifth start of the year in this game after also starting in the win over the Ragin’ Cajuns.

A graduate transfer from Louisville, Van Lith has started all nine games that she has appeared in this season, averaging 12.2 points and leading the team with five assists per game.

The Tigers will hope she’s able to make her return against Northwestern State on Sunday.

LSU went 2-0 on its trip to the Cayman Islands, ending its trip with a gutsy 76-73 win over Virginia.

The Tigers didn’t have a great offensive game overall as they shot just 40.3% from the field. [autotag]Hailey Van Lith[/autotag] was the only other player who scored in double figures, finishing with 12 points.

LSU women’s basketball leads nation with four players on Wooden Award watch list

LSU suffered a tough early defeat, but it still boasts what could be the most talented roster in women’s college basketball.

LSU’s women’s basketball team may have suffered a disappointing loss to a ranked opponent in Colorado to begin the year, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a roster in the country that’s more talented.

That talent is evidenced by the fact that the Tigers lead the nation with four players named to the watch list for the Wooden Award, which is given to the top player in the nation.

[autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] and [autotag]Flau’Jae Johnson[/autotag], as well as transfer additions [autotag]Hailey Van Lith[/autotag] and [autotag]Aneesah Morrow[/autotag] all made the cut. The watch list is not definitive and could take later additions, meaning freshman [autotag]Mikaylah Williams[/autotag] could become a candidate if she delivers more performances like she did in a 42-point outing in the win over Kent State on Tuesday.

With a roster this talented, the Tigers remain in the top 10 and look like a strong candidate to repeat as national champions once this team starts to gel together.

LSU women’s basketball rolls against Mississippi Valley State to second straight win

The Tigers put the beatdown on the Delta Devils on Sunday.

LSU continued to bounce back nicely from its season-opening loss, rolling against Mississippi Valley State to a 109-47 win at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The Tigers had a nice game offensively, shooting above 50% from the field as a team. [autotag]Sa’Myah Smith[/autotag] led the way offensively with 21 points, followed by [autotag]Mikaylah Williams[/autotag] with 20.

[autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] and [autotag]Aneesah Morrow[/autotag] totaled 14 points with the former notching a double-double, and [autotag]Hailey Van Lith[/autotag] also scored in double figures with 11 points.

Despite some sloppiness offensively that resulted in 20 turnovers, the defense forced 27 from the Delta Devils, which shot just 17 of 70 for the game, and got 28 points from those opportunities.

The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Kent State.
