Report: Memphis Grizzlies waiving former Warriors forward Jordan Bell

Former Golden State big man Jordan Bell is looking for a new team after being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies.

After a stellar start to his career with the Golden State Warriors, Jordan Bell is looking for a new team. The 25-year old big man has been waived by the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

As a junior in college, Bell led the Oregon Ducks to a Final Four appearance and was later drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft. On draft night, the Bulls traded Bell to Golden State for $3.5 million in cash considerations.

During the Warriors 2017-18 championship season, Bell started 13 games as a rookie, averaging 4.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 14.2 minutes per game.

Bell used his explosive athletic ability for multiple highlight-reel moments during his first season with Golden State, including an off the backboard dunk against the Dallas Mavericks.

However, he could never match his numbers following his rookie season. In the 2019 offseason, Bell signed a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, leaving Golden State.

After averaging only 8.7 minutes per contest in 27 games with the Timberwolves, Bell was moved to the Memphis Grizzlies before the 2020 NBA trade deadline for Bruno Caboclo and a 2023 second-round draft pick swap.

In Memphis, Bell linked with his former college teammate Dillon Brooks. However, the Oregon reunion didn’t last long. The Grizzlies waived Bell after two games.

With around 20 games remaining in the season, Bell will be searching for an opportunity to prove he belongs in the NBA into the future.

Report: Miami Heat acquire former Warrior Andre Iguodala from Memphis

Former Golden State Warrior turned member of the Memphis Grizzlies, Andre Iguodala has found a new home with the Miami Heat.

Several members of the Golden State Warriors have been surrounded by rumors leading up to the NBA trade deadline on Thursday. Willie Cauley-Stein has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks, while both Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III were pulled from the Warriors’ lineup with the trade deadline looming.

In the middle of it all is D’Angelo Russell. According to multiple reports, teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks are vying for a trade to bring Russell to their team.

While the Warriors are active at the trade deadline, former members of Golden State are also on the move.

Over the past offseason, the Warriors traded their sixth-man Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies, now he’s on his way to South Beach, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Iguodala has yet to play a game in the 2019-20 season as he was waiting for Memphis to move him to a contender, now, a day away from the trade deadline, the former NBA Finals Most Valuable Player got his wish granted.

On top of being traded to Miami, Iguodala will reportedly sign a two-year, $30 million extension. That news is significant for the Golden State Warriors because it essentially nixes any chance at a reunion with Iguodala over the summer via free agency.

Once the trade becomes official, Iguodala will have the chance to reunite with the Warriors, as his new team the Miami Heat will travel to Chase Center in San Francisco on February 10.

Report: Former Warrior, Andre Igoduala ready to sit out entire season in Memphis

According to David Aldridge of The Athletic, Andre Iguodala is prepared to sit out the entire 2019-20 season if he’s not traded from Memphis to an agreed-upon team.

We’ve reached the point of the NBA season where trade rumors are loudly swirling throughout the league. In the middle of it all is former Golden State Warriors’ swingman, Andre Iguodala.

Iguodala has yet to suit up for a game in the 2019-20 NBA season, and it’s not because he’s injured. Golden State moved Iguodala to the Grizzlies over the offseason and he has yet to report to Memphis as he waits to be traded to an agreed-upon destination. Iguodala and Memphis have mutually agreed that he would sit out until they found the right trade partner.

With the NBA trade deadline on the horizon, Iguodala will have to decide if he wants to either report to Memphis, play for a new team if he’s traded, or sit out the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

According to David Aldrige of The Athletic, Iguodala is prepared to sit out the rest of the season if Memphis can’t “orchestrate a trade with one of the agreed-upon teams.”

Behind standout rookie Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies are surging towards a spot in the Western Conference playoffs. Muddying the situation, the Grizzlies now risk the chance of moving Iguodala to a contender they could potentially see in the playoffs.

Iguodala’s future with Memphis will be sealed for the rest of the season soon when the NBA hits trade deadline day.
