Bobby Wagner commends Seahawks for letting players speak out

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner commended head coach Pete Carroll and the organization for allowing players to have a voice.

The recent tragedy of George Floyd’s death and the circumstances surrounding it have shaken America to its core, extending to athletes around the country. This has led numerous NFL players to speak out against racism and the injustice it causes.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll recently held a virtual chat with his players and allowed them to voice their displeasure regarding the troubling state of affairs. Linebacker Bobby Wagner praised Carroll and the Seahawks organization for their willingness to let his players speak their minds.

“I’m grateful we have an organization that understands,” Wagner told the media on Monday during an interview. “It’s hard for me to focus on football or focus on anything other than what’s going on. If you looked up from whatever you were doing, you saw what was happening.

“To have a platform and a situation where we can do that, I felt it was great.”

Wagner stressed that football is just a game and that life and its complications, particularly the severe issues at hand, will always be more important than a mere sport.

“At the end of the day, life is bigger than football,” Wagner said. “There are things happening bigger than football.”

Seahawks may be exploring options on trade for Leonard Fournette

Reports have come out that the Seattle Seahawks are possibly considering their options on trading for running back Leonard Fournette,

The Seattle Seahawks have possibly emerged as trade contenders for Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette along with a few other NFL teams.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter tweeted the news on Saturday afternoon.

The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell took to his own Twitter account to report that the Seahawks may be looking at their options regarding Fournette.

The concept of Seattle trading for a running back may be baffling to some because Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny can both be strong offensive weapons. However, they are both entering 2020 coming off season-ending injuries. It would not be out of the question for the Seahawks to at least think about acquiring Fournette.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney could be waiting for right deal

Former Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney could very well have decided to wait out free agency until he gets the right deal.

The Seattle Seahawks have supposedly offered defensive end Jadeveon Clowney an average of $18.5 million per year. The veteran edge rusher is said to be looking for a price tag closer to $20 million, according to Gregg Bell of the News Tribune.

However, Clowney could actually be waiting things out until he finds the right deal.

“It’s pretty obvious he’s the best free agent available just based on his performance on the field,” Ian Rapoport stated in an NFL Total Access video. “I know the Seahawks would like to bring him back, that much is true. They have not yet met his price, either. We’ll see when it happens, but I don’t get the sense Clowney is in a rush to do a deal.”

It appears that no team has yet granted Clowney’s wishes of a contract that pays him $20 million+ annually.

The Seahawks re-signed defensive tackle Jarran Reed to a lucrative two-year contract, leaving the team with barely over $18 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.

Clowney may have only recorded three sacks in 2019, but he also tallied four forced fumbles and two touchdowns in 13 games. On top of that, he is just 27 years old and his best years are just ahead of him.

The Seahawks will be hard-pressed to keep Clowney, but nothing is a done deal until someone puts pen to paper.
