Former Tennessee baseball pitcher commits to Florida State.

Former Tennessee baseball pitcher Grant Cherry committed to Florida State following the 2024 season.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior appeared in five games at Long Beach State across the 2023-24 seasons. Cherry (3-2) recorded 56 strikeouts and a 4.93 ERA with the Dirtbags.

He appeared in five contests for the Vols as a freshman in 2022, recording five strikeouts. Cherry went to Tennessee out of Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2022.

The Vols advanced to a 2022 NCAA Tournament super regionals that season and were ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll for 10 consecutive weeks (March 28-May 30, 2022).

Tennessee freshman pitcher Grant Cherry is playing in the California Collegiate League.

Cherry earned his first win with the Healdsburg Prune Packers on June 15.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Cherry pitched one inning against the Walnut Creek Crawdads. Healdsburg defeated Walnut Creek, 16-2.

Cherry totaled one strikeout against five batters in the contest against Walnut Creek. He has appeared in two games for Healdsburg, recording four strikeouts.

Cherry appeared in five contests for the Vols in 2022, recording five strikeouts.

Tennessee (57-9, 25-5 SEC) concluded its 2022 season on June 12.

The Vols advanced to the NCAA Tournament Super Regional and were ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll for 10 consecutive weeks (March 28-May 30).

Tennessee baseball receives commitment from 2021 pitcher.

Right-handed pitcher Grant Cherry from Vestavia Hills, Alabama announced his college destination on Twitter last week. The 2021 prospect will be attending Tennessee to play college baseball under head coach Tony Vitello.

Cherry has a fastball that reaches into the 90s, according to his profile on perfectgame.org. The Alabama native also plays right field and is a right-handed batter.

The 2020 Tennessee baseball season was canceled along with all other spring NCAA sports due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Cherry will be a senior at Vestavia Hills High School beginning this fall, and is able to join the Vols for the 2022 season.
