Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings open their seasons Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Kings, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Coach Bruce Cassidy enters his first year with the Golden Knights who finished 43-31-8 last season and did not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in franchise history. G Robin Lehner is projected to be out for the season as he recovers from hip surgery.

Vegas is tied with the Calgary Flames, New York Rangers and Edmonton Oilers for the 6th-best odds to win the Stanley Cup at +1500.

Los Angeles exited in playoffs in the first round last season after going 7 games with the Oilers. The Kings acquired LW Kevin Fiala from the Minnesota Wild in an offseason trade and signed the 26-year-old to a 7-year contract.

Los Angeles is tied with the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders for the 14th-best odds to win outright at +3000.

Logan Thompson (10-5-3, 2.68 GAA, .914 SV% in 2021-2022) vs. Jonathan Quick (23-13-9, 2.59 GAA, .910 SV% in 2021-2022)

Thompson faced the Kings once last season, going 1-0-0 while allowing 1 goal on 39 shots, good for a 1.00 GAA and .974 SV%.

Quick faced the Golden Knights twice last season, going 1-1-0 while allowing 8 goals on 39 shots, good for a 5.64 GAA and .795 SV%.

Golden Knights at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 3

Moneyline

VEGAS (-105) is good value for a talented team with a new coach that has a lot to prove after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. Fiala is a big addition for the Kings this season but has also helped them become overvalued in this spot.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

Golden Knights +1.5 (-270) is too expensive to bet in this spot. Look to the ML or the total for better opportunities.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+105) is worth a bet as Quick struggled last season vs. Vegas and the Kings are unveiling what should be a much-improved offense.

The Over is 7-0 in the last 7 head-to-head meetings and should cash for the 8th consecutive time Tuesday.

Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (20-12-0) visit the Los Angeles Kings (14-11-5) Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights were red-hot before the holiday break, winning eight of the past 10 games, although they did fall to the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in the game prior to the hiatus on Dec. 21.

The Kings won at the Washington Capitals 3-2 in their last game, which was Dec. 19. That capped off a 4-1-1 stretch for the Caps in their final six games before the holiday/COVID-19 pause.

Golden Knights at Kings projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (6-3-0, 2.72 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Jonathan Quick (8-6-4, 2.19 GAA, .930 SV%)

Brossoit is expected to hold down the fort as G Robin Lehner has been nursing a lower-body injury lately. The backup Brossoit allowed 4 goals on 19 shots in the 4-3 loss to Tampa before the break, but he has won five of his past seven starts overall.

Quick was shelled for 5 goals on 33 shots in his most recent showing in Carolina, a 5-1 loss Dec. 18. He hasn’t faced the Golden Knights yet this season but was a dismal 0-4-0 with a 5.81 GAA and .800 SV% in four starts against them last season.

Golden Knights at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 2

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-135) have been the choice of the public, and that worries me a bit.

Quick was atrocious for the Kings against the Knights last season, which is driving the thinking here. These two clubs already played once this season and Los Angeles won rather handily 6-2 in its season opener Oct. 14.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+180) is worth playing lightly as I believe a late empty-net goal gets it done in the newly named Crypto.com arena.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-125) is the play, although again, I think it will take a late empty-netter to get the Over across the finish line.

I feel good about the fact neither of these teams have been touched by the COVID-19 bug too much yet. Only Kings D Drew Doughty is missing for the home side. The two teams should be able to produce at an optimal level after plenty of rest.

The Over is 4-0 in the past four head-to-head meetings, and 7-1 in the past eight battles in L.A.

Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (1-0-0) face the Los Angeles Kings (0-0-0) Thursday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights opened the post-Marc-Andre Fleury era with a 4-3 victory over the expansion Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Arena Tuesday. Now, VGK plays its first road outing of the season.

The Kings have dropped three consecutive regular-season openers, each by one goal. Their last victory in an opener came Oct. 5, 2017, behind Jonathan Quick against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights -1.5 (+145) | Kings +1.5 (-190)

Golden Knights at Kings projected goalies

Robin Lehner (1-0-0, 3.01 GAA, .903 SV%) vs. Calvin Petersen (9-18-5, 2.89 GAA, .911 SV% in 2020-21)

Lehner stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced in Tuesday’s regular-season opener against the Kraken. He posted a 4-0-0 record, 2.00 GAA and .927 SV% vs. LAK last season.

Petersen didn’t have a ton of success overall last season going 4-10-0 at home. However, he did have a respectable 2.67 GAA and .914 SV% at Staples and was the victim of poor goal support.

Golden Knights at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-165) won the season opener by a 4-3 score, and I like them to win this one by the same exact margin.

In recent seasons, the Kings (+133) have come close in regular-season openers, but they have just come up short. Look for the trend to continue, as VGK is 6-2 in the past eight meetings.

Against the spread

The KINGS +1.5 (-190) are a little on the expensive side. As mentioned, they have dropped three straight regular-season openers, but each have been one-goal games, with just one of the outings decided in regulation.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-122) is the best play on the board between these rivals. The Over has connected in 10 of the past 13 meetings, including six of the past seven battles at Staples. Look for the red light to be lit frequently Thursday.

Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Vegas Golden Knights (28-11-2) play the second end of a two-game set with the Los Angeles Kings (16-19-6) Wednesday with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at Staples Center. Below, we analyze the Golden Knights-Kings odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Golden Knights doubled up the Kings by a 4-2 score in the front end of this back-to-back set, and they enter on a three-game win streak. Vegas has outscored the opposition 12-6 during the streak and hit the Over in two of those outings.

The Kings are on a 3-8 ATS skid, but they won one of three games against the Golden Knights and cashed as +200 underdogs March 31.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -225 (bet $225 to win $100) | Kings +185 (bet $100 to win $185)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Golden Knights -1.5 (+115) | Kings +1.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Golden Knights at Kings: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury (18-10-0, 2.09 GAA, .925 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Calvin Petersen (7-11-4, 2.70 GAA, .920 SV%)

Fleury has posted an 8-6-0 record, 2.10 GAA and .927 SV% with 3 shutouts through 14 road games. He is 1-2-0 with a 3.08 GAA and .900 SV% in three starts against the Kings, as opposed to backup Robin Lehner, who is 4-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .927 SV% in four starts against L.A.

Petersen is 0-4-0 with a 3.61 GAA and .897 SV% through 4 starts in April, including 37 saves on 41 shots in the 4-2 loss to Vegas Monday in the front end of the two-game set. Petersen is 2-2-0 with a 2.61 GAA and .935 SV% in 4 starts and 5 appearances against the Knights this season.

Golden Knights at Kings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 2

Money line (ML)

The Golden Knights (-225) are likely going to win and if the predicted score looks familiar, it should. We predicted 4-2 in favor of Vegas Monday, and that score hit.

To be honest, it isn’t that impressive, as three of the past five meetings were decided by a 4-2 count, with one win in favor of L.A., and two in favor of Vegas.

Anyway, PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+115) are a strong play on the puck line, as they have won five of the first seven head-to-head meetings this season while winning by 2 or more goals in four of those games.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-120) is the lean because of the aforementioned frequent 4-2 scores. Don’t go crazy and bet a heavy amount, but a light wager is warranted.

Five of the seven meetings this season hit the Over, and nine of the past 12 meetings in this series cashed the Over. Five of the past six meetings in Los Angeles also hit Over

The Golden Knights swept a two-game set at home against the Arizona Coyotes, winning 7-4 Friday and 1-0 Sunday. Now, they play their third game in the past four days.

The Kings rebounded Saturday with a 4-2 road win against the San Jose Sharks after taking it on the chin by a 5-2 score against the Sharks Friday. The last time these teams played was March 31 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with the Kings coming out on top by a 4-2 score.

Golden Knights at Kings: Projected starting goalies

Robin Lehner (8-1-2, 2.33 GAA, .912 SV%) vs. Calvin Petersen (7-10-4, 2.63 GAA, .921 SV%)

Lehner has won his past two starts, and the Golden Knights provided 13 total goals of support in those contests. He has won six of his past seven starts, too, including a pair of wins over the Kings. He made 23 saves in a 4-2 victory in his most recent appearance in Los Angeles March 19.

Petersen has lost all three of his starts in April, including the 5-2 setback Friday in San Jose. He is 2-1-0 with a 2.21 GAA and .944 SV% in three starts and a relief appearance against the Golden Knights this season.

Golden Knights at Kings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 2

Money line (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-175) are rather heavy favorites, but they’re a good play on the road. Even though L.A. won the most recent meeting in Las Vegas, the Golden Knights have won four of the first six meetings this season.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+145) are an even better value on the puck line if you like them to win outright.

They covered the puck line in three of their four wins against the Kings this season. Vegas also covered the puck line in three of its past four wins coming into this set.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-110) has connected in four of the six meetings this season, while hitting in eight of the past 11 meetings, and four of the past five at Staples Center.

The Over has been the rule with the Kings lately, too, going 3-0-1 in the past four games for Los Angeles.
