LeBron James’ wife and mother had the best reactions to this wild dunk on his 38th birthday

Savannah James and Gloria James had the best seats in the house.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, folks, but LeBron James still has it.

The four-time NBA Finals MVP turned 38 years old on Friday. He led he Lakers to a victory, 130-121, over the Hawks. It was his best game of the season and he finished with 47 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 1 block.

Arguably most impressive, given his age, is that James had three dunks as well. They were all pretty awesome to watch, but one late in the third quarter was especially memorable.

It caught the attention of his wife, Savannah, and his mother, Gloria (who wrote a heartfelt tribute to her son on Instagram earlier in the day). They were sitting together courtside and were equally impressed:

Savannah James and Gloria James have both watched LeBron play at the highest levels for an astonishingly long time, yet he continues to find new ways to impress them.

Considering how well LeBron played during this game, though, some fans theorized the Lakers would play much better if his wife and mother attended every game.

LeBron James shares post-championship FaceTime with Mother

LeBron James left the Lakers locker room and got on FaceTime with his mother Gloria, thanking him for bringing him into the world.

LeBron James is a champion once again and he helped the Los Angeles Lakers earn the 17th championship in a tumultuous season. The Lakers started to party hard in the locker room after the game, rightfully celebrating the culmination of a three month journey inside the Wide World of Sports at Disney World. While the Lakers were going wild in the locker room and players like J.R. Smith and Dwight Howard were on Instagram live, LeBron stepped out for a moment to FaceTime with his mother.

Reporters captured LeBron on the phone with his mom, Gloria James, as he puffed on a celebratory championship cigar.

LeBron then thanked his mother for raising him and saying how much he thanks for everything she went through in doing that.

LeBron’s last championship came over four years ago and one of the famous anecdotes from that was he found himself a quiet table for a postgame meal while the team partied at a Las Vegas club. With the Lakers scheduled to go back home, LeBron is likely looking forward to a quiet meal and a nice bottle of wine for one last time in the bubble.

LeBron says hardest part of quarantine was time away from Mom

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James said it was hard to be away from his mother while he was on lockdown in L.A.

LeBron James took his fans into his world while he was on quarantine in his L.A. with his wife and kids, but there was one thing that was glaringly missing for the duration of the quarantine: his mother, something he has never experienced before in his life.

LeBron spoke to reporters on Monday about life in the NBA bubble, but he also touched on what his life was like while in quarantine and he said above everything else, his inability to see his mother for an extended period was the hardest part.

Ben Golliver of the Washington Post has the video of LeBron talking about how tough it was being away from his mom, who was quarantined in their hometown of Akron, Ohio.

James and the Lakers have been inside the NBA bubble for almost two weeks. Yesterday, they had an intrasquad scrimmage but in only a couple of days, we will get to see them play against another team when they scrimmage against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.

LeBron James shares heartfelt Mother’s Day message for wife and mother

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James made sure that the two mothers in his life were recognized by his millions of followers.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James took the time to shine a light on two of the most important people in his life on Sunday, sharing heartfelt messages to his mother Gloria James, as well as his wife, Savannah James, on Mother’s Day, for the role that they have played in his life.

For his mother, Gloria, he still looks at her in awe for all that she did in helping raise him in a difficult in Akron, Ohio before LeBron became one of the greatest players to ever play the game. That feeling of gratitude stays with him even now and he made sure his mom felt love. LeBron also recently gave Gloria credit for helping inspire the creation of the I Promise school in Akron.

Then James shared a message about his wife Savannah and her love, as well as how she leads what LeBron called their “3-headed monster,” aka their three children.

LeBron James says spending 24/7 time with family is ‘a blessing’

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James told reporters on Wednesday that he’s glad he gets to spend so much time with his family.

Among the ways in which LeBron James is spending his time, between putting himself through rigorous workouts in his home gym or joining his kids on TikTok, one of the things that James has been working on, he told reporters in a Zoom conference call on Wednesday, is expressing gratitude for what he has in his life while also increasing his meditation practice, according to our own Mark Medina of USA TODAY.

To keep himself inspired, James has adhered to a strict routine. He goes to sleep using the Calm App, which plays uplifting stories and inspiring music. He wakes up feeling invigorated because he sees his sons (Bronny, Bryce) and daughter (Zhuri) have what he calls “a positive mindframe.” After eating, practice and training, James has kept himself engaged in other ways. He will meditate for 10-minute intervals. He will complete breathing exercises. He will express gratitude for his various accomplishments and fortunes. He then enjoys free time with his loved ones.

“It’s definitely been a bit of a blessing to be able to be here 24/7 and be here with your family,” James said. “And being able to – I don’t want to say ‘recoup’ the time, because that’s one thing you cannot do. Time waits for no man and you can’t do that. But to be able to appreciate it and be in this moment, it’s been pretty cool. Even though I’ve missed the game of basketball like none other.”

During a time where it’s hard for people to take themselves out of their own situation, expressing gratitude for what is going well is a positive way to deal with the circumstances. Obviously, LeBron misses basketball and it’s hard to blame after the season he had in Year 17, but he knows that he’s getting a chance to do things that he wouldn’t be able to do otherwise.

LeBron is trying to stay positive, as is the rest of the league when it comes to hoping there is some type of way to salvage the 2020 season and eventually crown a 2020 NBA Champion. After missing the playoffs in 2019 for the first time since 2006, James was primed to show what he could do during his first career appearance in the Western Conference playoffs.

Both James and Lakers president Rob Pelinka, as well as several other players and decision-makers, have also expressed their hopes to keep the possibilities open when it comes to figuring out some way to close out the season, without live fans in attendance.

LeBron James shares heartfelt message from mother on triple-double feat

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recorded triple-doubles against all 30 teams and his mother sent him a sweet congratulatory message.

[jwplayer o41Wqtmr-z6KDnl0B]

During Tuesday night’s Los Angeles Lakers win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James became the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double against all 30 teams in the league.

Everyone from fans to coaches, teammates and rivals commented on the historic feat. Although LeBron himself won’t have the most triple-doubles of all-time or likely average one in a season, the feat speaks both to his incredible versatility and longevity. But none of the congratulations hit LeBron quite as much as the one he got from his No. 1 fan: his mother, Gloria James.

James shared a heartfelt text exchange with his mother on Instagram the day after the game.

LeBron and his mother have been in the public eye for nearly two decades, but still remain tightly bound even as James’ All-Time success matches, or even surpasses, the future many saw for him when he was just a high schooler from Akron.
