Contract details for new Titans OL Geron Christian

A look at the deal the Titans gave veteran OT Geron Christian.

The Tennessee Titans added to their offensive line room this week, with the team signing veteran offensive tackle Geron Christian to a one-year deal.

Christian’s one-year pact is worth a total of $1.25 million and includes just $250,000 in fully guaranteed money, according to Over the Cap. If he sticks, Christian will account for a cap hit of $1.06 million.

Based on the numbers, Christian’s contract does not in any way scream “roster lock.” For now, he’s a solid veteran depth option that will likely just compete for a backup role in training camp.

Most of Christian’s experience in the NFL comes at left tackle, where he started in nine games for the Cleveland Browns last season and gave up four sacks and 33 pressures in 400 pass-block snaps.

Christian does have experience on the right side, also, but it is limited to just 125 career snaps. That said, it’s not crazy to think he could stick his nose in the right tackle competition thanks to the uncertain situation there.

The 27-year-old has crossed paths twice with Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan, with the pair spending time together in both Cleveland and Washington.

We’ll see if the third time’s the charm in terms of Callahan being able to elevate Christian to more than just a backup-quality lineman.

Titans sign former Browns OT Geron Christian

Another former Brown is off the market.

The Cleveland Browns turned to Geron Christian down the stretch of their season after the season-ending injuries to offensive tackles Jedrick Wills, Dawand Jones, and Jack Conklin. Now, Christian has signed with the Tennessee Titans.

While Christian had his struggles with the Browns, filling in as the starting left tackle, there are not many players or teams who can prepare for their fourth and fifth-string offensive tackles to fill in successfully.

This makes the second Browns offensive tackle from a year ago to land with former Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan and the Titans, joining LeRoy Watson (who was traded for a seventh round pick before the 2024 NFL draft).

Christian faces an uphill battle to make the final 53-man roster with the Titans, who just drafted Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham in the first round. However, the Titans do lack depth along their offensive line, so with a strong camp Christian could pull through.

Titans sign offensive lineman Geron Christian

The Titans have added an offensive lineman to their offseason roster ahead of training camp.

The Tennessee Titans are adding more depth to their offensive line ahead of training camp.

According to Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston, the Titans have signed offensive lineman Geron Christian. The news comes from Christian’s agency.

The 27-year-old was originally a third-round pick of Washington in the 2018 NFL draft. He spent three seasons there, two of which overlapped with Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan’s stint.

After being released by the Houston Texans in 2023, Christian again joined Callahan, this time with the Cleveland Browns. He started in nine games and gave up four sacks and 33 pressures in 400 pass-blocking snaps.

Christian has played some snaps at right tackle during his career, but the vast majority of his work has come on the left side. He has 25 starts over his 58 career games in the NFL.

The Titans are set at left tackle but have a competition at right tackle. Christian may end up getting a look there, but chances are he’ll be a depth piece if he makes the cut.

The Titans have concluded their offseason program, so the first chance we’ll get to see Christian will come in training camp. Players will report on July 23 and the first practice will take place on July 24.

1 pending free agent the Colts could target from each AFC team

Taking a look at one pending free agent for the Colts from each AFC team.

With free agency right around the corner, the Indianapolis Colts have the chance to make some key additions to a roster that already has some promise.

Working with some of the most salary-cap space in the NFL this offseason, general manager Chris Ballard and the front office can continue to add pieces to the defensive side of the ball while improving the supporting cast for quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Re-signing some of their own players like Michael Pittman Jr., Grover Stewart and Kenny Moore II will be key. But they also could look around the conference to bring in some outside talent.

We know Ballard isn’t one to make huge splashes in free agency, but they are still going to be an active team even if it means simply adding depth.

After taking a look at potential NFC targets, here’s a look at one pending free agent from each AFC team that should interest the Colts:

Browns Film Room: A case to start LeRoy Watson over Geron Christian at left tackle

The Browns are down at left tackle, but there may be a case that LeRoy Watson, not Geron Christian should be the current starter

After his performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns must seriously consider starting LeRoy Watson over Geron Christian at left tackle the rest of the way out.

Many do not even know who LeRoy Watson is. Despite signing with the Browns off of the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers after the injury to Jedrick Wills, there is not even a picture in our system of him in a Browns uniform. However, we have reached the point, after he saw significant snaps with the reserves in Week 18, where he might be the option to throw out there at left tackle as the team prepares to travel to take on the Houston Texans in two days.

At this point, the Browns are not hoping some Pro Bowl left tackle plugs in and plays. They have seen three offensive tackles suffer season-ending injuries and are scraping the bottom of the barrel. However, the argument here is that Watson is closer to the top of the barrel than Christian is.

Here, we take a look and break down several reps from Watson’s showing against the Bengals.

Browns Studs and Duds: Whose play stood out in the disappointing loss vs. Broncos?

Examining the studs and duds in the Cleveland Browns disappointing loss against the Denver Broncos

The Cleveland Browns suffered a bitter defeat against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The team’s spirits were riding high after a handful of wins propelled the Browns into a race to be the AFC North champion. That feeling quickly ended against another wildcard competitor despite another strong showing from linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

The Broncos beat the Browns thoroughly. The Browns made things extremely difficult for themselves; they played poorly with no composure. The Broncos were far more prepared to play the Cleveland Browns than the other way around.

The team seemed to deflate after quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was knocked out of the game on a penalized hit. The Browns were quickly winning the momentum of the game before that moment. The Browns immediately compounded the problem by fumbling the ball on the next play to set up an easy Broncos touchdown. Replacing the starting quarterback while climbing out of a two-score deficit proved too much for the Browns.

The Browns will have a bad taste in their mouth after this game. They know they’re a much better team than the Broncos. And they know that the Broncos bullied them into a loss. Hopefully, our group has too much pride in themselves to get punked again this season.

Here are the studs and duds from this humiliating defeat to the Broncos.

PFF’s 10 highest-graded Browns’ offensive players vs. Ravens

Things seem to be starting to click for this offense

It was a terrible start for the offense of the Cleveland Browns this week with the pick-six on the first series as well as struggles to finish drives with touchdowns in the first half. But as the game went on, especially in the second half quarterback Deshaun Watson and the passing offense started to click thanks to some help from Amari Cooper. Running back Jerome Ford also had his best game as the starter.

This was the first time that it felt like the offense could go and get points when they needed them with the game on the line. The offensive line was without their top three offensive tackles and yet had one of their best games overall, especially in the run game.

Hats off to Ford in this game it was by far his best as a pro, he displayed good vision, patience, and decisiveness as a runner. It gives you a lot of hope for what this team can be if the offense continues to improve.

Here are the top 10 performances from this week according to PFF.

5 Stars: Who shined for the Browns in thrilling win over the Ravens?

The Browns got standout performances across the board against the Ravens. From Geron Christian to Deshaun Watson, who stood out the most?

Now sitting at 6-3, winning four of their last five games, the Cleveland Browns have proven they are a real force this season. This time, quarterback Deshaun Watson and the Browns fought back from an early deficit to beat the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 33-31. Despite missing both of their starting offensive tackles, fielding Geron Christian and James Hudson, the Browns managed to hold their own against Baltimore’s fierce defense.

The Browns now have a real opportunity to make a huge statement if they can scratch and claw their way to another win this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Who contributed the most to this win? It was impossible to narrow this down to just five players, so the easy thing to do is exclude defensive end Myles Garrett since he would make the list every week.

Here are five standouts that deserve to be recognized for their efforts in the come-from-behind win over the Ravens.

Browns add Kenyan Drake among a flurry of practice squad roster moves

Cleveland has re-arranged their practice squad

The Cleveland Browns, on the day of the trade deadline, have been quite busy. However, none of it has anything to do with making a trade. Instead, the Browns have made a flurry of moves to their practice squad roster, including the addition of veteran running back Kenyan Drake. The former Alabama running back was in Cleveland for a workout last week, and now finally lands on the practice squad a few days later.

Drake teased his signing to the Browns this morning on Twitter, but now the news is officially official. While the Browns have been busy reconstructing their practice squad, do not discount general manager Andrew Berry from making a trade before the 4 PM deadline today. The team is rumored to be interested in bringing back quarterback Jacoby Brissett, as well as dipping their toes in the wide receiver market.

For now, however, here are all of the moves the Browns made to their practice squad today.

Texans sign OT Austin Deculus to active roster among other Week 4 transactions

The Houston Texans have signed tackle Austin Deculus to the active roster among other moves for Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Houston Texans have made a bevy of moves as they get ready to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at NRG Stadium.

The Texans signed tackle Austin Deculus and defensive tackle Khalil Davis from the practice squad to the active roster.

Houston also declared tackle Geron Christian and center Jimmy Morrissey as their two standard elevations from the practice squad. Following Week 4, both Christian and Morrissey will have two additional standard elevations the Texans can use before needing to sign them to the active roster from the practice squad.

The Texans also released safety DeAndre Carter-Houston from the active roster while signing defensive end Derek Rivers to the practice squad.
