Euro 2020: England vs. Germany odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s England vs. Germany odds and lines, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

Tuesday at noon ET, England will take on Germany in the Round of 16 at Euro 2020. The match will be played at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Below, we preview the England vs. Germany odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

The two European powerhouses have both been among the top favorites to win the tournament. The winner will take on the victor of Ukraine and Sweden in Tuesday’s second match.

Germany is coming in off a 4-2 thrashing Portugal, a 2-2 draw against Hungary and 1-0 loss to France in the group stage. The match against Portugal showed the German’s dominance. F Thomas Muller and MF Toni Kroos, along with GK Manuel Neuer will have to keep in top form to down home-sided England.

The English have a star-studded attack with F Harry Kane, and wingers Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford. They’ll pose a real threat to the great and experienced German side.

Despite winning Group D, England scored just 2 goals in three games. England has yet to concede a goal and this will be the first true threat. Germany and England are 12th and 4th, respectively, in the FIFA World Rankings.

Prediction

Germany 2, England 1

Money line (ML)

BET on GERMANY TO ADVANCE (-105) as the best value on the “money line.”

Germany has been challenged by arguably two of the best teams in Euro 2020 so far. It destroyed Portugal while allowing only one goal on a minor yet game-changing mistake to France.

The experience of Kroos and Neuer is likely to prove too much for England, but this will be a tight match.

I wouldn’t bet to have an outright winner in regulation, but Germany to go through to the Round of 8 as a slight underdog is a good value, especially considering how tamed Kane has been so far this tournament.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS on the total despite the Under 2.5 (-135) offering reasonable value.

England played 14th-ranked Croatia in the group stage and won 1-0. Germany played second-ranked France and lost 0-1. The beat down of Portugal was Germany’s best collection of play.

With Kroos and MF İlkay Gündoğan should dominate the middle of the field for Germany. With an elite attacking trio on the other side, this could be a high-scoring affair if England can figure out its offensive woes.

This doesn’t feel like something to put your money on as both teams have the talent to hit the Over, while neither side has truly put everything together yet.

Euro 2020: Portugal at Germany preview, odds and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Portugal at Germany odds and lines, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

One of the biggest games of the second slate of Euro 2020 group stage games is upon us. Germany (0 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws) and Portugal (1-0-0), ranked 12th and fifth, respectively, in the FIFA World Rankings, meet for a noon ET kickoff Saturday at Allianz Arena in Munich. Below, we preview the Portugal vs. Germany odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

Germany comes in with a home-field advantage. While it may be a slight underdog given the rankings, this team doesn’t lack star power. MF Toni Kroos, who played a large role in the team’s 1-0 loss to France, will dominant the middle of the field. F Thomas Müller will need to step up as the home side was held scoreless to start the tournament.

Those two will dictate the style of play for the German side. Then, you have GK Manuel Neuer in the back. He’s arguably the best goalkeeper in the world and showed that against France. Only an own goal by D Mats Hummels got by him.

That said, let’s not act like the Portugal side has no star power. They have F Cristiano Ronaldo, who is closing in on the international goals record. Ronaldo put two in the back of the net in Portgular’s 3-0 win over Hungary.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +100 | U: -135)

Prediction

Germany 1, Portugal 0

Money line (ML)

PASS on the money line because neither team truly showed much in their first game.

Sure, Portugal won 3-0, but they played 37th-ranked Hungary. They also didn’t capitalize on many early-game chances and didn’t get one in the net until the 84th minute. One of those three goals also came from the penalty spot.

Nonetheless, betting against Ronaldo is never smart. He’ll be taking on a German side that impressed despite losing. Germany didn’t bring much offense to the table, totaling just 1 shot on goal.
With possession being dominant by Germany against arguably the best team in Euro 2020, this could be a slow-paced game that favors the more complete team, which, in this case, is Germany.
Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 2.5 (-135) because neither team truly showed any attacking prowess in their opening matches.

Germany won possession and didn’t allow many opportunities for French stars Kylian Mbappé or Paul Pogba. France wasn’t allowed to gain any momentum despite not being pressed by Germany too much.

Germany had 692 passes and an 89.2% passing rate. Kroos and MF İlkay Gündoğan played very well. Expect them to keep the pace of the game in their favor and make it a slower game.

As for Portugal, they have Ronaldo, but until late in the game, they couldn’t break down Hungary. With the star being the main threat for Portugal, I’d expect Germany to lock him down and keep the Portuguese offense limited.

Euro 2020: France at Germany preview, odds and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s France at Germany odds and lines, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

Arguably the biggest game of the first slate of Euro 2020 group stage games is upon us. Germany and France, ranked 12th and 2nd, respectively, in the FIFA World Ranking, meet for a 3 p.m. ET kickoff Tuesday at Allianz Arena in Munich. Below, we preview the France vs. Germany odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

Germany comes in with a home-field advantage. While it may be a slight underdog, this team doesn’t lack star power. MF Toni Kroos will help man the middle while MF Leroy Sane likely occupies the edge.

Those two will dictate the pace of the game for Germany. Then, you have GK Manuel Neuer as the last line of defense. He’s arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.

France is bringing in an absolutely dynamic, quick, and skilled group of players led by young phenom F Kylian Mbappe. Other than Mbappe, MF Paul Pogba and MF Kante are the top stars. France should show its dominance in this tournament.

Prediction

France 2, Germany 0

Money line (ML)

Bet FRANCE (+165). Despite any rising conflicts, this team is just the most talented in the tournament.

Heading to Germany will be no easy feat, nor will getting past Neuer, but this team has shown resilience before, and will be primed to do it again.

France beat Albania and Moldova by a combined score of 4-1 in the qualifiers. Now with its entire roster in action, it should manage a victory.

Also, I don’t see too much attacking on the German side.

Germany scored 10 goals against Northern Ireland and Belarus to qualify, but France is a much different beast and should present a tough challenge right out of the gate.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS  because 2.5 is not going to be an easy mark to reach. Both teams have exceptional goalies, and it’s unlikely they allow much.

Neuer and France GK Hugo Lloris are both top-10 keepers. With Kante and Kroos a couple of the best defensive and possession-minded midfielders in the world, both teams should have keeping and pace.

This one feels like a low-scoring event.
