Aaron Murray predicts winner of Georgia vs Texas

Several former Georgia Bulldogs, including Aaron Murray, talk about the Georgia-Texas battle.

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray has a lot to say about the Bulldogs’ matchup at Austin vs. the No. 1 Texas Longhorns. Murray posted all of his thoughts on his X account yesterday, hosting former Bulldogs Knowshon Moreno, Brandon Boykin, Ben Jones, and Tavarres King.

Here are a couple highlights of Aaron Murray’s podcast

Brandon Boykin on the cornerbacks:

“They are not playing with technique…they are opening the gate and not looking for the ball…a lot of things can be fixed with fundamentals, especially when you’re athletic…there’s also inexperience…there are guys who are young, and haven’t played a lot of football…it’s a combination of all of that,” said Boykin, a former Georgia cornerback.

“Kirby isn’t changing the scheme for the players on the field… if you’re not skilled, than you’re not on the field… Mississippi State quarterback Van Buren got more confident as the game was going on… he was getting the ball out so quick…there isn’t too much you can do… explosive plays are not a part of Georgia’s secondary, and that’s the biggest problem.”

Aaron Murray on the Georgia defense

“There’s nothing on the defense that’s been dominant, outside of Ingram-Dawkins, DJ (Dan Jackson), and Malaki Starks,” said Murray. “They’ve only had an average to good defensive performance each game.”

On Georgia fans in general

“I think, deep down inside, they know Texas is playing better ball, but they’re thinking ‘Texas hasn’t played anyone’ trying to mask all the issues right now for Georgia, but they know deep down because of what they’ve seen,” said Murray.

On Texas’ gamescript

“Texas’s offense is better than Alabama’s offense, and their defense is better than Alabama’s defense. If Georgia gets down early, they’re not winning this game. There is no coming back. You can’t afford to go down by double digits early against Texas.”

“I think winner gets in the 40s. We cannot fall down by two scores. The longer the game remains close, the bigger chance Georgia has to win.”

Former Georgia center Ben Jones on the running game

“Our offense right now is built upon throwing it and running it when we don’t want to throw it. We used to run the ball and set up our play action and screens. Now, everybody knows when we’re passing,” said Jones.

“We have a different identity from the past,” continued Jones. “Pass blocking is a finesse, and run blocking is a mindset. You gotta want it more. We have some good athletes, but we need some Dawgs on the run.”

Aaron Murray on UGA quarterback Carson Beck

“Carson Beck has a chance to silence his critics in a big spot against Texas. It’s been my experience that the whole locker room tries to elevate their play in these types of games, and he will.”

Aaron Murray predicts that Texas will win against Georgia 38-31.

It is shocking to see Murray pick against Georgia as he rarely does so in the Kirby Smart era. However, Georgia faces a major challenge at Texas.

There will be several more predictions, including one from “College GameDay“, and the game will be televised on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Almost nobody is predicting that the Georgia Bulldogs will defeat the Texas Longhorns

The No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1) face the No. 1 Texas Longhorns (6-0, 2-0) in a top-five clash between SEC foes. The Georgia at Texas game will be played on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

ESPN’s “College GameDay” is headed to the Georgia-Texas game, which will be televised on ABC.

Georgia enters the Texas game as 4 1/2-point underdogs. The Bulldogs have rarely been underdogs in recent seasons, but they face an immense challenge against Texas, which has already picked up impressive wins against Oklahoma and Michigan.

Most members of the media are rolling with the Longhorns ahead of the Georgia-Texas game.

National media predictions for Georgia at Texas

“(Texas) hasn’t played a team currently in the top 20 of the ESPN SP+ rankings. The Bulldogs are the more desperate team after stumbling at Alabama, but that could work both ways,” said Marc Weiszer of Athens Banner-Herald.

“Want to flip a coin? I’m riding with a stingier Texas defense, but Ewers must execute much better than he did against Oklahoma last weekend,” said David Kenyon of Bleacher Report. “Otherwise, the Dawgs will hand Texas its first-ever SEC loss.” Kenyon has Texas winning and covering the 4 1/2-point spread.

“Georgia is going to come prepared to play for this one, but we think Texas just has a better team,” said James Morgan of UGA Wire. “Georgia has not put together a complete game yet and there’s little reason to think that will start against the No. 1 team in the country.”

Fox college football analyst Joel Klatt predicts who will win the Georgia at Texas football game

Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt noted that every anticipated top-five matchup this season has been an instant classic.

Alabama’s 41-34 win over the Georgia Bulldogs came down to Georgia’s final offensive play, which was a Carson Beck interception. Oregon’s 32-31 win over Ohio State ended with Ohio State in game-winning field-goal range as time expired.

No. 4 Georgia’s road trip to play the No. 1 Texas Longhorns should be another great game between two top College Football Playoff contenders. Georgia and Texas play at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Georgia-Texas game will be televised on ABC.

“Now they’re (Georgia football) going to face a team that’s better than that Alabama team,” said Klatt.

Klatt thinks Texas is back. He thinks the Longhorns have an advantage in the offensive trenches against Georgia. However, he thinks Georgia will have a bit of mental edge.

“Georgia is going to play desperate, because a loss in this game puts them basically in no man’s land in terms of trying to reach the SEC championship game,” Klatt said. “I just don’t see a path for Kirby Smart to get back to Atlanta and play for an SEC championship game, which means (with a loss) that there’s not really a path to a first-round bye and a top four seed in the College Football Playoff.”

Georgia could lose to Texas and still make the playoff, but the Bulldogs would have a much more challenging path to a national championship.

Klatt, who played quarterback at Colorado, thinks the Georgia-Texas game will come down to which offensive line performs better. “The team with the better offensive line wins the game,” said Klatt.

Klatt thinks Texas’ offensive line is superior and healthier than Georgia’s offensive line.

“I like Texas 34-31. Now, that does mean a Georgia cover because I’ve got it at Texas minus 3 1/2,” predicted Klatt.
