Nwokocha is rated among JUCO prospects as the No. 7 DL…

Nwokocha (6 feet, 4 inches, 290 pounds) plays for Tyler Junior College. Among JUCO players, he is rated seventh among defensive lineman, fourth in Texas and 43rd overall, according to 247Sports.

Nwokocha has earned offers from the Bulldogs, West Virginia, Purdue, Indiana, Oklahoma and TCU this year to go with 13 others.

Kelee Ringo’s NFL draft profile

Here’s a look at Georgia CB Kelee Ringo’s draft profile…

Georgia’s Kelee Ringo is headed to the 2023 NFL draft as one of the cornerback prospects contending for a first-round call.

DawgNation will always remember Ringo for his game-sealing interception versus Alabama in the 2021 college football playoff final that helped bring Georgia its first national title in 42 years.

The former five-star prospect started two seasons in head coach Kirby Smart’s defense as a primary boundary defender in the secondary.

NFL.com recently released Ringo’s NFL draft profile ahead of the NFL combine that is set to begin on Feb. 28.

Grade: 6.39

NFL Comparison: Jimmy Smith

Overview: Boundary corner with an impressive blend of size and athleticism. Ringo is uniquely suited to travel the field and match talents against some of the bigger targets in the league. He can press and does a nice job of controlling plays in front of him from off coverages. However, he is very average at anticipating breaks and transitioning with them to squeeze the top of the route. His physicality in coverage and in run support are big assets in his favor, but there is still work to be done in consistency of coverage. Ringo’s traits will be highly coveted and he has a chance to become a very good NFL cornerback if his route recognition continues to develop.

Strengths: Elite size and strength for an outside corner. Stays low and balanced in his backpedal. Physicality to grind on press release. Plays with effortless, natural responses from zone.

Weaknesses: Lack of patience against release leads to early hip declarations. Body control gets sloppy from side-shuffle technique. Has trouble staying in phase with comeback routes. Allows coverage slippage during scrambles.

Sources Tell Us: “There are some really good games but there are some average ones, too. I think you project the size and athleticism because he’s got them both and he’s scheme independent.” — Regional scout for NFC team

Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff comment on QB battle ahead of spring practice

“Insanely talented, every day we go out there and some of the throws we make are just wow.”

Perhaps the biggest question surrounding the 2023 Georgia Bulldogs is who will take over for two-time national champion quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Rising senior Carson Beck backed up Bennett in 2022 and has completed 36 of 58 passes for 486 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions and 12 runs for 58 yards over the last two seasons.

Dawg Nation asked Beck about the Bulldogs’ quarterback room, which also has rising redshirt sophomore Brock Vandagriff and freshman Gunner Stockton, who redshirted his first season in Athens.

“Insanely talented, every day we go out there and some of the throws we make are just wow. I think any of these dudes can go start at other Power Five programs. It’s really insane that in one quarterback room we have all this talent and a lot of people don’t know that.”

Beck is entering his fourth season at Georgia, something rare in today’s college football world as a result of the transfer portal and the ease of transferring to another program for playing time.

“Honestly, I don’t want really want to go from school to school. That’s a lot, moving schools, being with a new team, having to develop a connection with a bunch of different guys. I love the guys here and it’s a lot of fun.”

Vandagriff has seen limited snaps in mop up duties over the last two seasons, but has shown flashes of ability in those opportunities.

“I think it’s one of the best in the country,” Vandagriff said of the quarterback room. “Everyone brings something different to the table and hopefully it will be something to look out for this spring.”

Stockton took scout team reps last fall as a true freshman and impressed.

Spring practice will begin the week of March 14 and culminate with the annual ‘G-Day’ game in Sanford Stadium on April 15.

Georgia football invited to White House

Bulldogs -> White House!

The 2022 national champion Georgia Bulldogs have earned a White House invitation.

The Bulldogs are the first college football champions invited to the Capital since the Clemson Tigers in 2019.

It seemed that Georgia wouldn’t be invited for a consecutive year considering the amount of time passed since the Bulldogs took down TCU 65-7 in the college football playoff final on January 9.

UGA defensive tackle sent this Tweet just three days prior to the announcement.

Broderick Jones’ NFL draft profile

Here’s a look at Georgia OT Broderick Jones’ NFL draft profile…

Georgia’s Broderick Jones is one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2023 NFL draft.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently projected Jones to the New York Jets with the No. 13 overall in his 2023 NFL Mock Draft 2.0.

Here’s a look at the All-SEC tackle’s draft profile, according to NFL.com.

Grade: 6.44

NFL Comparison: Former Georgia Bulldog Andrew Thomas

Overview: Ultra-athletic tackle prospect with the size, length and potential to develop into a plus starter on the left side. Jones’ frame and technique both are in the developmental phase. His entry into block fits can be a little disjointed. He needs to improve his punch accuracy and timing to make the most of his length in pass protection. Jones is very talented at working into space and landing a block to help spring the running game. He has the nimble feet to mirror or recover against the rush. Jones isn’t a finished product, but the physical and athletic gifts allow for a projection as a good, long-time starter.

Strengths: Former high school basketball player with premium athletic qualities. Drives hands into defender with upward strike. Rips outside hand through pads to corral and move opponent. Should be able to make all the blocks for zone and power.

Weaknesses: Less than two full seasons of starting experience at left tackle. Needs to keep his chin tucked and back flat in protection. Punch comes from outside angles and is slow to stick the rusher. Gives early ground when challenged by power rush.

First up is defensive lineman Jalen Carter, who is projected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bears.

“I’m not projecting trades in a mock draft this early in the offseason, but I’ll be surprised if the Bears end up holding onto the No. 1 overall pick. That said, I don’t think they’ll move down beyond the range of one of the top defensive players.”

The New York Jets take offensive tackle Broderick Jones with the No. 13 overall pick.

“GM Joe Douglas continues to invest in the offensive line. The Jets have been crushed by injuries up front, so it’s imperative that they continue to bolster the unit. Jones has tremendous upside.”

The Green Packers use the No. 31 overall pick on edge defender Nolan Smith.

“Smith is an outstanding athlete who reminds me a little bit of Haason Reddick when he was coming out of Temple. Smith would get a lot of pass-rush opportunities in Kansas City, thanks to the Patrick Mahomes -led offense.”
