Georgetown is 0-8 in road/neutral games this season. The Hoyas have shot under 40% from the floor in those eight games. That have put a lot of pressure on a defense which ranks well below average overall and easily as the worst defense in the Big East. Georgetown arrives in Omaha having lost 13 in a row, including five defeats decided by 10 points or less.

The Bluejays and Hoyas are meeting for a second time in three days. Creighton downed Georgetown in Washington, D.C., 80-66 Saturday. Creighton held Georgetown to a 36.6% mark from the field and has allowed a mere 37.2% figure in going 3-1 over its last four games.

Creighton is the better defense by light years. Georgetown needs to drain a lot of 3’s to pull off an upset, and perimeter defense has been especially good for Creighton of late.

Georgetown destroyed Creighton in this building 73-48 last season. Look for the home five to be motivated and fully in control of this one from jump street.

Creighton (-650) will likely win, but a tag of -200 or higher is almost always difficult to leverage as value. Backing the Bluejays here will cost 6.5 times your potential return. That’s not wise sports gambling.

If you really want to bet Creighton money line, parlaying the -650 with some other options would be the way to do so.

PASS on a large spread open to a back-door cover against a good 3-point shooting Georgetown five.

  1. Creighton is 9-2 over its last 11 games, and the Bluejay defense has been at the forefront of that surge. In the 11 games, CU has held foes to a 39.5% mark from the field. For the season, the ‘Jays have held opponents under 70 points in eight games; six of those were on home hardwood.
  2. Georgetown came off a 21-day COVID-19-induced hiatus Saturday to defeat Providence 73-72 at home. The Hoyas had their previous four games postponed. GU went 15-for-19 from the free-throw line in the victory. The Hoyas are shooting a robust 78.4% from the lie since Dec. 11; overall, their rate of free throws per possession ranks as bottom-50 in the nation.
  3. The Hoyas are looking for their first win in Omaha since 2015. Since then, the Bluejays are undefeated in five home games against Georgetown. Creighton won last year’s home game against GU 91-76. The ‘Jays hit a season-high 17 treys in that contest.
