With George Pickens out, UGA WR Arian Smith is set for a big 2021

Georgia star George Pickens is out, but UGA has some incredible skill at receiver in redshirt freshman Arian Smith.

While I’m not saying Georgia has a need at receiver, with a star like George Pickens on the sideline and a chance at a national title on the line, the Bulldogs need an x-factor on the outside.

We know Georgia is deep at receiver. Last season’s receiving leader Kearis Jackson returns along with and explosive sophomore Jermaine Burton. Redshirt sophomore Dominick Blaylock will be back from an ACL tear in 2020 and senior Demetrius Robertson is back too, and can’t forget 2021 signee Adonai Mitchell.

The player I left out is redshirt freshman Arian Smith, a former track star who’s speed is an absolute game-breaker.

Pickens at six-foot-three and with a crazy catch radius, had the ability to win any matchup. So, where do the Bulldogs go when the game is on the line and UGA needs a first-down, or a big play?..

Smith missed most of 2020 with a torn meniscus, but he was able to get playing time the last four games of the year and flashed greatness.

After all, his first catch was for a touchdown…

Smith caught this 31-yard touchdown pass for his first career catch and then, in Georgia’s 24-21 win over Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl, showed the world what speed can do to a defense…

World class sprinter speed here and Georgia needs to take advantage of it in 2021.
