The Blazers’ Gary Trent Jr. trade created some wild and eerie coincidences with his father

Like father, like son.

Gary Trent Jr. was traded from the Trail Blazers to the Raptors on NBA Trade Deadline day for Norman Powell.

Normally, that wouldn’t mean very much. It’d be considered your normal, run-of-the-mill NBA trade deadline trade. But this one created one of the weirdest fun facts that you’ll ever see.

Gary Trent Jr. played for the Trail Blazers just like his dad, Gary Trent, did. He will also play for the Raptors just like his dad did, too.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Oh, wow. He’s really following in his father’s footsteps. That’s pretty wild, but it’s not that weird. We’ve definitely seen weirder.

And you would be right…if that’s where the fun fact ended. Apparently, just like his father, Trent was traded to the Raptors in this third season. And, to make it even more specific, he was traded after 41 games…just like his dad.

It’s sort of eerie!

You can check their basketball reference pages. It’s true. They were both traded 41 games into their third season from the same team to the same team.

Talk about like father like son. Sheesh.
