5 takeaways from Colts’ 34-14 loss to Bengals

Here are five takeaways from the Colts’ brutal loss to the Bengals.

Today was not the day for the Indianapolis Colts in their blowout loss on the road to the Cincinnati Bengals.

All three phases of the game disappointed and played a major factor in the dominating win by Cincy. The Indy offense struggled to find a rhythm, the defense got gashed on screen plays and played flat for the majority of the game, and the special teams left points off the board as well as muffed a punt.

This was a crucial loss by the Colts but with other teams across the AFC in the playoff hunt losing this week as well, they still can control their fate in the final four weeks.

But for now, here are five takeaways from the dreadful Week 14 loss from Indianapolis:

Here’s our instant analysis from the Colts’ loss in Week 14 to the Bengals.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-6) could not get out of their own way in the 34-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals (7-6) on Sunday at Paycor Stadium.

After falling 14-0 during the first half, the Colts were able to find some semblance of life just before halftime with two touchdowns to tie the game. However, they would come out extremely flat in the second half and wound up being outscored 20-0 over the final two quarters.

Colts trounced 34-14 by Bengals: Everything we know from Week 14

Recapping the Colts’ embarrassing 34-14 loss to the Bengals.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-6) saw their winning streak come to an end in a brutal 34-14 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals (7-6) on Sunday at Paycor Stadium.

This easily should be considered the worst game the Colts have played this season. Outside of an impact play on a pick-six from linebacker Ronnie Harrison Jr., there were very few positive plays for the Colts throughout this entire game.

After falling 14-0 for the majority of the first half, the Colts scored touchdowns on consecutive plays. Mo Alie-Cox found the end zone on a fourth-down play-action call, and Harrison helped tie the game with a pick-six, which was followed up by a two-point conversion by Michael Pittman Jr. just before halftime.

Then, the wheels fell off. The Colts simply could not get out of their own way between penalties, muffed punts and a lack of execution on both sides of the ball. The Colts were shut out in the second half while the Bengals scored 20 unanswered points.

Colts vs. Bengals: 5 things to watch in Week 14

Here are five things to watch in the Week 14 matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts will be on the road this week as they look to continue their four-game winning streak against the Cincinnati Bengals.

After the surprising upset by Cincy over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13, this matchup has playoff implications, especially considering both of these teams are looking at potential wild-card berths over winning their divisions.

Since 2002 the Colts have an 8-4 record against the Bengals but have lost their last three road contests in this series. The last time Indianapolis won in Cincinnati was in 2005. This should be another tough road matchup for Indy.

Here are five things to watch for on Sunday:

Studs and duds from Colts’ 31-28 win over Titans

Taking a look at the studs and duds from the Colts’ 31-28 win over the Titans.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-5) extended their winning streak to four games with a 31-28 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans (4-8) on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

It wasn’t pretty throughout the game, especially as the Colts were down 17-7 coming out of halftime and then were forced to kick three consecutive field goals on their first three drives to open the second half.

But the Colts were able to prevail thanks to some big plays on special teams. They blocked two consecutive punts, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Even after the Titans scored a field goal on their drive to open overtime, the Colts answered with a clutch touchdown to Michael Pittman Jr. (more about him below) to seal the win and sweep the season series against Tennessee for the first time since 2018.

5 takeaways from Colts’ 31-28 win over Titans

Here are five takeaways from the Colts’ 31-28 win over the Titans in Week 13.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-5) have now won four games in a row after finding a way to squeeze a win over their divisional rivals despite the Tennessee Titans (4-8) kicking a field goal on the opening drive of overtime.

This was one of the wonkiest games I have ever seen. It included a sequence where Samson Ebukam forced a strip-sack that was recovered by Julian Blackmon who got the ball knocked out by Will Levis for Tennessee recovery.

The Titans would end up getting three points after that. There were two straight blocked punts (one was ruled as a fumble) by the Colts, which one was returned for a touchdown.

Shane Steichen would end up going for two after that score. Gardner Minshew had a badly placed ball that went off Zack Moss’ hands right to Amani Hooker who returned it to give Tennessee two points on the board.

On top of all of that, Ryan Stonehouse got hurt on the second blocked punt, and when the Titans tied up the game at 25 all, Nick Folk missed his PAT attempt with Ryan Tannehill in as the holder for Stonehouse.

This game got so weird that at one point it was reported that Matt Gay got stung by a bee.

This was a contest that easily could’ve been lost by the Colts but the special teams delivered as well as Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce.

Colts prevail in 31-28 OT win over Titans: Everything we know from Week 13

Everything we know from the Colts’ wild 31-28 win over the Titans in OT.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-5) defeated the Tennessee Titans (4-8) in overtime, 31-28, at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.

It was a wild game all around from the start. The Colts blocked two consecutive punts during the second half, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Ryan Tannehill was used as a holder after the Titans punter left the game due to an injury. Matt Gay got stung by a bee on the sideline (really).

Neither team deserved to win this game, and both sides did their best to give it away to the other team. But in the end, the Colts did enough to prevail, extending their winning streak to four games.

What Colts are saying about Titans ahead of Week 13

What the Colts are saying about the Titans ahead of their Week 13 matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts will have a golden opportunity in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans, as not only can they sweep the season series with their division rival, they can effectively put Tennessee away for good.

Colts defensive lineman DeForest Buckner is well aware of the opportunity at hand but is expecting a “dog fight” against the Titans on Sunday.

“Yeah, we know it’s going to be a dog fight. They’ve been playing really well at home all year obviously,” Buckner said. “Yeah, any division game is always going to be a dog fight.

“Shoot, personally I haven’t swept the Titans since I’ve been here. So, it’s a great opportunity to do that and also stack another win in the win column and make this playoff push. They are the next obstacle in the way and we’ve got to continue to be at our best in all three phases.”

Now, a look at what else the Colts are saying ahead of Sunday’s rematch.

Studs and duds from Colts’ 27-20 win over Buccaneers

Taking a look at the studs and duds from the Week 12 win.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-5) won their third straight game Sunday, defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7) at home.

The Colts jumped out to a 17-3 lead before Tampa Bay came storming back in the second half. The Colts ultimately closed the game out with a strip-sack under two minutes to secure the victory.

Here’s our instant analysis from the Colts’ 27-20 win over the Bucs.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-5) defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7) on Sunday, 27-20, at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Week 12 victory marked the third win in a row for the Colts, giving them a winning record for the first time since they started the season 2-1. They also scored 27 points, meaning they’ve crossed the 20-point threshold in all but one game this season.

It was a pretty balanced win for the Colts, who wisely relied on the run game when things were falling apart through the air.
