Travis Kelce to host reboot of TV game show

Travis Kelce will be hosting the first season of new game show series Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for a 20-episode run which has already been filmed and features celebrities answering questions in a format like the original series Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? premiering Oct. 16

Kansas City Chiefs rockstar tight end Travis Kelce is making his inevitable return to television as the focal point of the series Catching Kelce and one-time Saturday Night Live guest will now be hosting the new game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, slated to premiere October 16 on Prime Video.

The show is a spinoff of the 2000s-era hit game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, which featured guests competing in quizzes to win a jackpot while comedy legend host Jeff Foxworthy ribbed contestants who struggled to answer grade school-level exam questions.

Kelce will be hosting the new series for a 20-episode first season which has already completed filming and will feature celebrities from different walks of life including the NFL in a Jeopardy-inspired format similar to the original show.

Tight end Travis Kelce has exhibited pop-culture star potential from his first days in the NFL so it is an expected jump to see the naturally affable team player getting some more screen time that doesn’t feature him in his Chiefs uniform.

Super Bowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman appears as answer on “Jeopardy”

Super Bowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman appeared as an answer on a recent episode of “Jeopardy”

Even in the offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs can’t escape the national spotlight.

This week, Super Bowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman made a television appearance in his most unconventional manner yet: As an answer on the popular game show Jeopardy.

Check out the interesting question that had Hardman as the answer, and see if you would have guessed it correctly:

While this was hardly Hardman’s biggest break of 2024, it was interesting to see the former Chief featured on a game show that isn’t known for throwing the names of NFL players around often.

Unfortunately, it didn’t seem like the contestants watched Kansas City’s resounding victory over the San Francisco 49ers in February, as the only guess was incorrect.

Hardman might not be a household name among the Jeopardy-watchers of the world, but his inclusion in this broadcast is sure to have those with eidetic memories on the lookout for more Chiefs references in the future.

Regis Philbin – TV Legend and Notre Dame Graduate, Dead at 88

There may not be a more famous non-athlete from Notre Dame than Regis Philbin. Sadly the TV legend died Friday night at 88 years old.

There aren’t many non-athletes that attended the University of Notre Dame that are better-known than Regis Philbin.

The legendary TV talk show and game show host graduated from the University in 1953 as a sociology major.  He then served in the Navy before getting into show-business via behind-the-scenes jobs.

After hosting various different shows everywhere from St. Louis to San Diego, Philbin earned a co-hosting spot on the famed “Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee” that ran from 1988 until her retirement in 2000.  He stayed with the show that was briefly named “Live! with Regis” before Kelly Ripa became his full-time co-host in 2001.

“Live! with Regis and Kelly” aired until 2011.

It wasn’t just talk shows, it was game shows where Philbin shined as well.  “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” may be for what he is most-known in the game show industry but “The Neighbors”, “Almost Anything Goes” and “America’s Got Talent” all had Philbin’s finger prints on them, too.

Philbin was proud of where he went to college as he welcomed Lou Holtz, Tyrone Willingham and Charlie Weis all to “Live!” at various different times.

Regis was also a member of the Notre Dame tennis team during his time at school

Regis Philbin died Friday night one month short of his 89th birthday.
