The new ‘Elden Ring’ gameplay trailer is making fans go wild

Everyone is going bananas over Elden Ring.

A new gameplay preview for the wildly-anticipated Elden Ring  dropped on Thursday, and fans are a teensy-weensy bit excited. By that, I mean they’re frothing at the mouth, barely able to contain their hype.

It’s hard to blame them, of course. FromSoftware is behind modern-day classics like Dark SoulsBloodborne, and Sekiro — undeniably one of the best development studios making video games these days. Not to mention George R. R. Martin, the author behind Game of Throneshelped pen the story for Elden Ring. So the expectations for this game are through the roof.

Check out the extended gameplay preview for Elden Ring  for yourself below. There are some slight boss encounter spoilers in the footage, just as a heads up.

Elden Ring  is coming out on Feb. 25, 2022, but if you can’t wait that long to try it out, there’s a beta test coming up soon.

You’re still reeling from that preview, eh? No problem. Everyone across social media is in the same boat. Some fans are picking apart nitty-gritty details, while others are too stoked for coherent thought, and naturally, loads more are dropping memes. I’ve gathered a bunch of the best reactions for you to check out below.

PlayStation demake of ‘Bloodborne’ is coming out in January

Fear the old blood, literally.

Bloodborne PSX, arguably the coolest fan-made video game project ever, is releasing on Jan. 31, 2022.

If you’ve ever wondered what Bloodborne  would look like if it came out in the late 90s, Bloodborne PSX  is a retro “demake” of the classic PlayStation 4 game made to look like something on the original PlayStation console. Well, the first couple sections of Bloodborne, anyway. Significant bits are there, though, like tussles with the Cleric Beast Father Gascoigne — yes, you’ll have to fight Gascoigne again. I know, that prospect is terrifying in and of itself.

Check out the release date trailer for Bloodborne PSX  for yourself below.

Bloodborne PSX  will be completely free of charge on PC to anyone interested in trying it out. Which makes sense given it’s, well, a fan project! Lilith Walther, one of the brilliant minds behind the demake, thinks Bloodborne  always felt like a retro game in certain respects.

“This might be a somewhat controversial take, but I always thought of the Soulsborne games as retro in their feel, and I mean that as a form of the highest praise,” Walther said via Kotaku. “Of course they take advantage of modern technology but like I mentioned before they are very rudimentary in their core design and there is that classic souls jank that just makes it all incredibly endearing, as well as the mischievous design that you don’t really get in big-budget releases anymore.”

Check out a side-by-side comparison of Bloodborne  and Bloodborne PSX  for yourself below.

Just an immensely cool interactive homage to a fantastic game! Not to mention a nice hold-over until Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s next action RPG, comes out. Funny how George R. R. Martin’s first big video game keeps getting delayed, eh?

Elden Ring delayed to February

FromSoftware’s next epic RPG is getting a small delay.

FromSoftware announced that Elden Ring  is receiving a short delay to Feb. 25, 2022.

The wildly anticipated action RPG from the creators of Dark Souls was originally going to come out on Jan. 21, 2022. On Monday, however, FromSoftware said that the game needs a bit more development time.

Elden Ring will release on Feb. 25, 2022, as the depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations,” FromSoftware said on Twitter. “Thank you for your trust and patience. We look forward to seeing you experience the game in the Closed Network Test in November.”

Check out the statement for yourself below.

This news is a bit of a bummer, but ensuring Elden Ring is in a polished state is a good move by FromSoftware.

The Hype for Elden Ring stems not only from its developer’s pedigree, but that Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin helped create the game’s backstory and world.
