The Los Angeles Lakers announced Tuesday Frank Mason III has been waived.

This news comes one day after the Lakers announced Mason signed an Exhibit 10 deal, which was reported a few days prior to the announcement.

Mason, a former second-round pick in the 2017 draft, has played for three different teams in four years and never stuck.

The 5-foot-11 ball-handler played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2021 Summer League but didn’t make the team.

Los Angeles has begun waiving players currently on training camp deals, like undrafted rookie Mac McClung, so there could be more cuts coming soon.

Chaundee Brown, Cam Oliver and Trevelin Queen are the other players on Exhibit 10 deals who could end up with the South Bay Lakers, like McClung, if no other team picks them up.

Sixers news: Justin Anderson, Frank Mason III to be waived by the team

The Philadelphia 76ers will waive both Justin Anderson and Frank Mason III.

The preseason is over and that means teams have to get their rosters all set to go for the season to begin very soon. For the Philadelphia 76ers, that means having to waive a few players to get their roster down to 17–15 active and two on two-way deals.

On Saturday, a team official confirmed that the team has waived both Justin Anderson and Frank Mason III before the team’s season opener on Wednesday. Anderson was here on a partially guaranteed deal while Mason III was signed to a non-guaranteed deal after Friday’s preseason finale with the Indiana Pacers. The nature of their contracts made it easy for the team to waive them.

There is the possibility that both players could end up with the Delaware Blue Coats, the team’s G League affiliate. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey reported that the expectation is that Mason III will join Delaware.

With the expectation for Mason III to head to the Blue Coats, Anderson could be joining them as well. [lawrence-related id=40394,40375,40371]

Sixers news: Frank Mason III to sign a non-guaranteed contract with team

The Philadelphia 76ers have signed guard Frank Mason III to a deal.

The Philadelphia 76ers are working on getting things right for the 2020-21 season, which means working through a pandemic where the COVID-19 virus could take anybody out at any time.

In order to be prepared for anything, the Sixers are doing everything in their power to make sure they have the bodies they need.

On Friday, the team signed Frank Mason III to a non-guaranteed deal. He has played 99 games in his career. He followed two seasons playing for the Sacramento Kings by spending the 2019-20 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. He has career averages of 6.8 points and 2.6 assists across the three seasons.

Mason III will probably not make the roster on opening night as the team is set in their backup guard spots, but he is a guy that could stick within the organization with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League. The team could definitely use some depth in a season such as this one.
