Auburn among top schools for Texas cornerback in 2023 class

Top 100 player lists Auburn among top 12 schools.

With the 2022 recruiting cycle wrapped up, the Auburn Tigers finished with the No. 18 class according to 247Sports team composite. Focus now shifts to the 2023 class. Auburn has one commitment so far, four-star offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner from Auburn, Alabama.

On Monday, four-star cornerback Braxton Myers released his top 12 schools. He transferred from John Paul II High School in Plano, Texas, to Coppell. Auburn made the cut with fellow SEC schools Arkansas, LSU and Ole Miss. They will have home-state competition for Myers from the Texas Longhorns and TCU Horned Frogs. Texas signed his former high school teammate Terrance Brooks in the 2022 cycle after flipping him from Ohio State.

Auburn Wire breaks down his recruiting profile. Some recruiting services have him listed as a safety, but he projects best at cornerback.

Alabama lands commitment from in-state four-star CB Tre’Quon Fegans

Alabama adds their seventeenth commitment of the 2022 class!

Alabama has been able to recruit at a national level for quite some time now. However, whenever the state is loaded with elite talent, the job becomes that much easier.

The 2022 class has had an unusual amount of in-state talent and the Crimson Tide has taken advantage. Heading into the week, four out of the top eight players were committed. You can now make that five, as another one was added on the defensive side of the ball.

Four-star cornerback Tre’Quon Fegans announced his commitment to Alabama on Monday afternoon. Just a week ago, he was a Miami pledge, making a quick shift over. Fegans was in Tuscaloosa as recently as Oct. 2 on an unofficial visit for the Ole Miss matchup.

Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Oklahoma, and South Carolina made a top-five list before an original commitment in July.

Coming out of Thompson High School, Fegans plays for the best 7A school in the state. He transferred from Oxford High School, where he even got snaps at running back, to play his senior season.

Fegans makes commitment No. 17 early on in the 2022 cycle. He is just the second defensive back, joining three-star safety Jake Pope.

Charles Kelly and Freddie Roach were named as the main recruiters for the four-star. Even with Fegans verbally committed to Miami, these are the types of recruitments Alabama does not lose.

On the 247Sports composite, Fegans is the No. 5 player in the state of Alabama. On the national scale, he ranks as the No. 85 overall prospect and the No. 11 cornerback.

Alabama offers No. 2 prospect in 2024 class, Desmond Ricks

On Saturday, the No. 1 rated cornerback in the 2024 class, Desmond Ricks, received an offer from Alabama.

It’s never too early to get excited about some of the best young prospects in the country. Especially when Nick Saban has identified their talent at such an early age.

On Saturday, the No. 1 rated cornerback in the 2024 class, Desmond Ricks, received an offer from the Crimson Tide. Coming out of IMG Academy, he is in his second season of playing at the varsity level.

Ricks marks just the 9th offer Alabama has made within the 2024 class. Four other defensive backs have heard from the reigning national champions, all from California or Texas.

However, we know how much the state of Florida enjoys sending guys to Tuscaloosa. Especially the defensive backs. Patrick Surtain was the last five-star, while Jordan Battle (2018) and Terrion Arnold (2021) have come since then.

There is a long way to go with Ricks’ recruitment but history shows Alabama will be in the race until the end.
