Why Florida State Will Win

The Seminoles might not be perfect, and they might not be playing its best basketball when they need to, but they’re here. They got by a hot North Carolina team by hanging on the glass with one of the nation’s best rebounding teams, was solid from the field, and held on late to survive and advance.

Florida State leads the nation in free throw shooting percentage – a must against a Georgia Tech team that’s good on the line and needs the points. If FSU can rebound like it did against UNC, its should be fine – the Yellow Jackets aren’t great on the boards.

Why Georgia Tech Will Win

Georgia Tech was able to get by FSU in late January when the defense was great from three and the offense had one of its best games of the year moving the ball around.

Red hot, it has won seven straight games and comes in rested when Virginia wasn’t able to go in the semifinal. It’s finding ways to win, mostly by keeping things moving. The shots are falling, making half them from the field over the last several games.

What’s Going To Happen

FSU is better on defense.

Again, it’s not a perfect team, but it doesn’t make a whole lot of mistakes, it gets on the boards, and again with the free throws. Georgia Tech will get hit with more fouls.

FSU will do a bit more from the line, and it’ll once again grind its way to a good win and an ACC title.

Why Florida State Will Win

We did this already and it wasn’t pretty.

Florida State hosted the Yellow Jackets back in mid-December, nailed just about everything from the field, and rolled to a 74-61 win.

The Noles have been even better over the last few weeks.

They’re still shooting the lights out, they’re great at attacking the rim, and they’re absolutely crushing it on the boards – and that’s going against type.

This isn’t a big rebounding team, but it’s been able to win the battle on the boards over the last three games including by 22 over Miami in the 22 point win. Georgia Tech is bad at rebounding, worse at stopping teams at hitting from three, and it’s lacking the consistent firepower to keep up. However …

Why Georgia Tech Will Win

The Yellow Jackets are playing well.

They lost their last two games on the road to Virginia and Duke, but they’ve had their moments from three over the last few games and they’re hitting half of their shots overall over the last seven games.

No, there won’t be any offensive rebounds, but that’s partly because they’ll hit enough shots to stay alive.

What’s Going To Happen

Georgia Tech moves the ball around well enough to get past the FSU pressure, and again, it can shoot and keep this close at home.

Florida State is playing too well defensively and will be just a wee bit better on the line in a fun, close battle with a whole lot of back-and-forth moments. It’ll be a good-shooting day for both sides.

Georgia Tech meets Florida State on Saturday afternoon in college football action from Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The Seminoles will have to stop the triple option from Georgia Tech, which averages 152.4 rushing yards per game.  The Yellow Jackets play well against the pass but will have a tough task at hand when they try to stop James Blackman, who threw for 2,339 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Here is everything you need to know to catch the college football action tonight.

Why Georgia Tech Will Win

The offense is going to be better.

After a rough year of transition, almost all of the wide receivers are back, the line has more parts in place that fit, and the offensive backfield is full of veterans – no matter who the starting quarterback is. The Yellow Jackets have figured out their starter between four options – James Graham is the most likely guy – but they’re not saying who it is.

The defense is even more loaded with veteran – 20 of the top 21 tacklers were returning – going against a still-suspect Florida State offensive line that hasn’t been fixed for three years.

Can the FSU O as a whole be more consistent? It had a hard time putting the biscuit in the basket – it couldn’t take advantage of its chances to score – and this year’s attack isn’t built to go on long marches.

CFN Preview 2020: Every Team Preview, Rankings, Predictions

Why Florida State Will Win

Yeah, the FSU offensive front is still a concern, but Georgia Tech doesn’t have the pass rush to take advantage of it – at least not yet. The D generated just 17 sacks and there wasn’t much done in the backfield – the Seminole backfield should have time to work.

The parts are there for the Seminoles. Jimbo Fisher and Willie Taggart were able to bring in decent talents, and now the experience is there. A few parts are questionable, but ten starters are returning from last year’s defense, James Blackman is a veteran quarterback, and even with star tackler Hamsah Nasirildeen out, the secondary should be better.

CFN College Football Experts Picks, Week 2

What’s Going To Happen

The last time these two met was epic.

In 2016, with the score tied at 16, Florida State went for a game-winning field goal at the end of regulation. It was blocked, Georgia Tech’s Lance Austin picked it up, and he took it back for a game-winning touchdown to break a Seminole run of 35 wins in 36 games – the only loss came in a College Football Playoff Rose Bowl to Oregon.

This one won’t be quite as thrilling.

New FSU head coach Mike Norvell will get his first win as the offense hits just enough home runs to pull away late in the first half, and the defense will be active enough to stall the Georgia Tech offense enough in the second half to survive.

The Yellow Jackets will look and be improved from 2019, but it won’t be able to take advantage of enough chances to pull off the upset.
