Social media buzz ahead of Florida’s rivalry matchup with FSU

Florida vs. FSU is always a heated contest, and the fans don’t mind getting chippy ahead of the big game.

The 2022 college football regular season is coming to an end for the Florida Gators, and game No. 12 is against UF’s historic in-state rival, the Florida State Seminoles.

There’s always some buzz when these two teams square off, regardless of the sport being played, but it’s something special when the two Sunshine State powerhouses collide on the gridiron. Florida State fans are enjoying a strong season from their team, and the Seminoles enter the game as near 10-point favorites. That doesn’t mean Florida’s chances to win are slim, but it will be an underdog victory if the Gators can pull it off.

Both teams will be dealing with some adversity from Mother Nature. It’s been pouring in Tallahassee for a few hours and doesn’t look like the field will be anywhere near pristine when kickoff rolls around. Florida has it’s own troubles, too, especially on the injury front. The Gators are a handful of receivers, including the typical starters out wide. Slot receiver [autotag]Ricky Pearsall[/autotag] should be ready to go, but FSU should be planning to limit him as Florida’s top receiver.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST, which should be right around when the men’s basketball team finishes their game against the Oregon State Beavers.

Everything you need to know to follow Gators-Seminoles football game

Here’s everything you need to know to follow along with Florida’s final regular-season game against FSU.

The Florida Gators travel to fave their Sunshine State rivals, the Florida State Seminoles on Friday, Nov. 25, for the final week of the college football regular season, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Gators bring in a 6-5 record and zero votes in either major poll after an upset loss on the road to Vanderbilt last weekend. On the other hand, the ‘Noles have had a solid campaign, putting up an 8-3 mark along with a No. 16 ranking after making short work of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns last Saturday.

Florida holds an 11-game lead in the all-time series sporting a 37-26-2 record dating back to 1958. The Gators won five of the first six meetings — with a 3-3 tie coming in 1961 — and 16 of the first 19 games between the Sunshine State schools. Since then, it has been a bit of a tug-of-war over short stretches for each team, with the Orange and Blue prevailing in the last three games.

Florida at FSU: Game day betting odds for Friday night fight

Here are the odds for tonight’s tangle in Tallahassee.

The final game day of the 2022 regular season has finally arrived as Florida football gets set to take on the Florida State Seminoles at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. The rivalry week matchup that has traditionally pitted the two in-state foes will be played on Friday night instead of Saturday this year, however, in a move a bit outside of the norm.

The Gators bring in a 6-5 record and zero votes in either major poll after an up-and-down campaign in 2022. Meanwhile, the opposition has been riding pretty high with a solid 8-3 mark along with a No. 16 ranking after wading through a tough three-game stretch in the middle of the schedule.

Does CBS Sports think Florida has a chance to beat Florida State?

Florida is the underdog coming into its annual rivalry contest with Florida State. Does CBS Sports think the Gators can pull off the upset?

It’s been four years since Florida last played at Doak S. Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, but the Gators return to the state’s capital on Friday to take on their biggest in-state rival, the Florida State Seminoles.

Florida’s won the last three contests played between these two teams, but UF enters Friday as significant underdogs. FSU has put together an impressive season and is currently ranked No. 16 in the country, according to the College Football Playoff Committee. The folks at CBS Sports took a stab at predicting which team would come out victorious, and they see Florida State not only winning but covering the spread against Florida as well.

“The Seminoles have topped the 38-point mark in each of their last four games, which included a 38-3 win over Syracuse two games ago. That’s going to force Gators quarterback [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] to become more of a threat with his arm, and that’s not his strong point. Yes, he threw for 400 yards in last weekend’s loss to Vanderbilt, but he had to do that in order for his team to have a chance after a slow start. I’ll take the Seminoles to win and cover, especially since a 10-point win cashes.”

Billy Napier doesn’t care about covering the spread, though. He’s in it to win it, and a victory would mean avoiding a .500 record in his first year as Florida’s head coach. The season has certainly seen its share of ups and downs, with perhaps the lowest moment coming a week ago in Nashville, but beating FSU would be a nice way to finish things off.

Florida is dealing with its fair share of injuries this week, though, which will make it even harder on Richardson. He has two freshmen starting out wide and might not have his primary slot receiver this week, either. Florida may have to lean on the run game despite what the experts at CBS Sports think.

Florida lacking receiver depth ahead of rivalry game against FSU

The Gators don’t have a ton of depth at the receiver spot this week after injuries have ravaged the position room over the past few weeks.

The Florida Gators are once again dealing with depth issues ahead of their final game of the 2022 regular season against Florida State.

After getting back starting wide receiver [autotag]Justin Shorter[/autotag] a week ago for the Vanderbilt game, No. 4 finds himself back on the injury report this week. He’s not the only starting receiver listed as “out” this week, either. The team’s No. 2, [autotag]Xavier Henderson[/autotag], won’t be playing against the Seminoles, and starting slot receiver [autotag]Ricky Pearsall[/autotag] is “questionable” after missing most of last week’s game.

Pearsall suffered an upper-body injury against the Commodores, but Billy Napier expects him to be ready on Friday. [autotag]Ja’Quavion Fraziars[/autotag], [autotag]Marcus Burke[/autotag] and [autotag]Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman[/autotag] won’t be available either.

In place of Shorter and Henderson will be redshirt freshman [autotag]Daejon Reynolds[/autotag] and true freshman [autotag]Caleb Douglas[/autotag]. Reynolds had a breakout game against Vanderbilt last week, leading the team with 165 yards and two touchdowns on eight catches. He dropped just one pass and made up for it two plays later with his second score.

Douglas got the start against South Carolina and hauled in three catches for 53 yards. He’s appeared in six games so far this season and has two touchdowns on the year.

Tight end [autotag]Keon Zipperer[/autotag] is still dealing with a lower-body injury that has him listed as questionable and down to the third-string spot on the depth chart. If he’s fully healthy, Zipperer could get some of his snaps back, but there doesn’t seem to be a ton of optimism that he’ll be ready to go. [autotag]Dante Zanders[/autotag] and [autotag]Jonathan Odom[/autotag] should be Florida’s two main tight ends this week. True freshman [autotag]Arlis Boardingham[/autotag] is also listed on the depth chart for the first time after dealing with an injury for most of the year.

Florida has fewer depth problems on the defensive side of things. Safety [autotag]Rashad Torrence II[/autotag] is listed as the starter this week, but he suffered an injury during the Vanderbilt game that could limit him. Florida’s other starting safety, [autotag]Trey Dean[/autotag], said that the team would be fine if either true freshman, [autotag]Kamari Wilson[/autotag] or [autotag]Miguel Mitchell[/autotag], had to step up in place of Torrence.

Finally, linebackers [autotag]Derek Wingo[/autotag] and [autotag]Shemar James[/autotag] are expected to see the field a bit more often with [autotag]Ventrell Miller[/autotag] likely to miss the first half of the game after being disqualified for targeting against Vanderbilt.

Florida at FSU: Thanksgiving Day betting odds for Friday night fight

Happy Thanksgiving! Take a look at the odds for tomorrow night’s regular-season-ending game for the Gators.

Happy Thanksgiving, Gator Nation! Today we express our gratitude to the Orange and Blue for being the best school anyone could attend. In celebration, Florida football is set to face the Florida State Seminoles for a rare Friday night treat at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

The good guys carry a 6-5 record near the conclusion of an up-and-down campaign which reached a nadir last weekend with a loss at the Vanderbilt Commodores. Meanwhile, the opposition has been riding pretty high with a solid 8-3 mark along with a No. 16 spot in both major polls after a tough three-game stretch in the middle of the schedule.

Expert Predictions: Can Florida take one from FSU in Tallahassee?

Here’s how the Gators Wire crew thinks things will go down this Friday night in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Florida football is getting set for the final game of the 2022 regular season to close out the opening act of new head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag]’s tenure in Gainesville. So far, the gains have been realized off the field more so than on it, as the Orange and Blue stumbles to what could be another .500 finish to the fall schedule.

Next up are the Florida State Seminoles, who will host the Gators at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee for a rare Friday night affair. FSU has seen some drastic improvements this season after floundering the past half-decade and presents a formidable foe for Florida in Week 13.

The Gators hold an 11-game lead in the all-time series sporting a 37-26-2 record dating back to 1958, winning five of the first six meetings and 16 of the first 19 games between the Sunshine State schools. Since then, it has been a bit of a tug-of-war over short stretches for each team, with the Orange and Blue prevailing in the last three games.

The Gators Wire crew converged to give their predictions for Florida’s final regular-season game of the 2022 schedule at Florida State. Take a look below at what we think will go down on Friday night in Tallahassee.

Florida at FSU: Wednesday betting odds for Friday night fight

Check out the humpday odds for Florida’s final game of the season at FSU on Friday night.

Just a pair of days — including Thanksgiving Day — separate Florida football from its final game of the 2022 regular season schedule in Tallahassee against the Florida State Seminoles. The Friday night fight between the two in-state rivals features a pair of schools that have seen different levels of success this fall.

The Gators will arrive in Doak Campbell Stadium sporting a 6-5 record after an up-and-down campaign that came crashing to a nadir last weekend with a loss at the Vanderbilt Commodores. FSU, on the other hand, dealt with a rough three-game stretch in the middle of its schedule but has otherwise looked solid with an 8-3 record along with a No. 16 spot in both major polls.

Sports Illustrated labels Florida vs Florida State ‘tangy’ in rivalry game tiers

Sports Illustrated describes Florida vs Florida State’s rivalry as “Tangy” in their evaluation of Rivalry Games

Sports Illustrated released their rankings of rivalry games based on how “spicy” they consider the matchups to be and the Sunshine State Showdown between Florida and Florida State was described as “tangy” — the “tangy” distinction is for in-state teams with winning records.

The moniker makes sense for this game. The Gators and Seminoles are in similar spots as programs, with the latter having a better season on the field. The subtext when these two teams meet is always recruiting. As two of the three biggest brands in the state, both programs battle for the best prospects in the state, making their annual matchup mean more than your average in-state rivalry game.

This year’s game is expected to be one of the better on-field games in recent years. For the first time in a while, both teams are at similar levels. Here is what Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde said about the matchup:

The Gators (6–5) killed their late-season momentum with an upset loss at Vanderbilt, while the Seminoles (8–3) come in riding a four-game streak of blowout wins. It’s not Bowden vs. Spurrier, but the game has a little bit of juice back.

Pick: Florida State 31, Florida 20.

Forde’s analysis makes sense. If the Gators don’t slip up against Vanderbilt last week, the national outlook on this game is a bit different. Florida State has quietly been on the best run of the Mike Norvell era.

This year’s edition will be played on Black Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST and the game will be broadcast on ABC Sports.

Dooley’s Dozen: What every Gators fan needs to know about Florida State

Here’s everything you need to know about the Seminoles ahead of Friday night’s affair in Doak Campbell Stadium.

If Florida fans were ever looking for a reason to be hopeful as a double-digit underdog Friday night they only needed to look at a fellow SEC East team – South Carolina.

After scoring six points in Gainesville, the Gamecocks scored 63 against a team that appeared headed for the College Football Playoffs.

At this point, you reach for anything, right?

[autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] believes in what he is doing even if a percentage – and what that percentage is depends on who you are talking to either in person or online – disagrees with what happened Saturday.

At any rate, Florida plays its fourth game in five weeks away from home (it will be five once the bowl is announced) and it’s another opportunity for revenge for a team that lost to the Gators last year (running count has opponents up 2-1 this season).

This week’s Dooley’s Dozen tells you 12 things you need to know about…  Florida State (8-3, 5-3 in ACC).
