The Florida Panthers (1-2-0) take on the Boston Bruins (2-1-0) Monday. Puck drop from TD Garden is set for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Panthers lead 1-0

The Panthers took down the Bruins 6-4 last Tuesday in the season opener, but they’ve lost 2 straight since then. The latest was a 5-2 defeat at the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. C Sam Bennett scored his 3rd goal of the season; he had 2 goals against Boston in the opener.

The Bruins have rebounded from that loss to win their next 2 games, 6-4 against the Montreal Canadiens and Saturday’s 2-1 OT win vs. the LA Kings. RW David Pastrnak scored the game-winner and has a goal in each game thus far. G Jeremy Swayman stopped 33 of 34 fired his way Saturday.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (1-1-0, 3.04 GAA, .897 SV%) vs. Jeremy Swayman (2-0-0, 4.00 GAA, .914 SV%)

Bob has been great thus far. He stopped 24 of 28 against Boston to open the year. He was the tough-luck loser against Ottawa Thursday, stopping 28 of 30 shots.

Swayman didn’t play against Florida in the season opener. He has stopped 53 of 58 shots in victories over Montreal and LA. He stopped 18 of 21 in a victory over Florida during the regular season last year.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 3

Moneyline

The Bruins are unbeaten at home, and they will remain as such after this game. The Panthers have struggled in their last 2 games on the road, lighting the lamp just 3 times combined.

The BRUINS -125 avenge their season-opening loss at a solid price.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Panthers are far too expensive to play here, and I’m not confident enough in Boston winning by 2+.

PASS.

Over/Under

Both teams are 2-1 O/U thus far. Boston has scored 12 goals in 3 games, and Florida has lit the lamp 9 times. I look for these teams to come out fast and furious as the OVER 6 (+100) cashes.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 3, Bruins 2

Moneyline

Per OddsShark, the PANTHERS (-145) are 5-2 across their last 7 games at TD Garden.

Florida is worthy of the edge in what we can expect to be tight, low-scoring, late-series playoff hockey. The Panthers are out-chancing the Bruins and in 8 playoff games have scored 3 goals or more 7 times.

Per Hockey-reference.com, in even-strength play, Florida owns a 60% Corsi number in this series. The Panthers have been held to fewer shots as the series has worn on, but that puck-possession number is worthy of attention. And in 5-on-5 play, Florida shooting just 7.6% for the series has the look of a number ripe for regression.

TAKE THE PANTHERS (-145).

Puck line/Against the spread

Late-series games have been a solid Under in these playoffs, and with these clubs, another 2-1 game or something thereabouts would seem to be in the cards. PASS on sliding the Panthers through with a multi-goal margin.

Over/Under

The Under has cashed in the last 2 games and is the play in this one.

Both teams can defend at a high level (both ranked in the NHL’s top 6 in goals-allowed average during the regular season). Swayman should have a lot of confidence, and the tone of this series looks to be going from loose to tight.

BACK THE UNDER 5.5 (-125).

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (36-17-4, 2.37 GAA, .915 SV%) vs. Jeremy Swayman (25-10-8, 2.53 GAA, .916 SV%)

Bobrovsky stopped 15 of 17 shots Friday. He owns an .892 SV% in these Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 4, Bruins 2

Moneyline

Expect a relatively tight game, but Florida is worthy of the edge. The Panthers are out-chancing the Bruins and in 8 playoff games have scored 3 goals or more 7 times.

A Florida lean is here, and while a Panthers-by-2 play makes for more risk, the return on the Puck Line is solid. PASS on the ML; shoot for the plus money on getting the Panthers by with a cushion.

Puck line/Against the spread

Florida prevailing by a tally in the neighborhood of 4-2 or 5-3 isn’t an odd-on likelihood. But the return on a Panthers club with mojo makes for a sound investment on FLORIDA -1.5 (+170).

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in each of Florida’s last 6 games, and the Panthers have averaged a robust 33.9 shots per game over their last 7.

The Over is 7-3 across the last 10 Florida-Boston meetings.

Per NaturalStatTrick, 5-on-5 expected-goals-against numbers for these playoffs would peg both sides as being a tad defense-fortunate so far. Expect the Bruins to have a solid game defensively, especially in a down-in-the-series effort on home ice. But the pricing here is solid; in fact be prepared to move quickly to avoid a line change working against you.

BACK THE OVER 5.5 (+110).

Panthers LW Matthew Tkachuk and Bruins RW David Pastrnak drew the postgame headlines for their fight in the 3rd period, while C Aleksander Barkov earned 3 Stars with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Prediction

Florida 4, Boston 3

Moneyline

BET FLORIDA (-125).

I would much rather back a Florida team that went on the road and won in overtime twice at TD Garden last postseason, as well as once in Toronto and twice more in Carolina.

If Friday night’s game is decided in regulation, the Panthers have had the better track record thus far, as their goal differential per 60 is best among Eastern Conference playoff teams (0.73).

Additionally, Florida has averaged the 3rd-most time per playoff game leading its opponent (25:13), so I expect it to maintain at least a 1-goal advantage and hold on for the Game 3 win.

Puck line/Against the spread

Consider adding Bruins +1.5 (-255) to a parlay.

This is too much juice for a single bet to back Boston +1.5 (-255). However, if you are looking to spread out action across multiple days, consider pairing the Bruins’ PL with the New York Rangers +1.5 (-200 at Carolina Hurricanes, Saturday at 7 p.m. ET), which would pay out +108 in a 2-leg parlay.

Over/Under

BET OVER 5.5 (-106).

RW Kyle Okposo and Tkachuk each have scored 4 goals with 6 assists this postseason.

C Carter Verhaeghe, who leads Florida with 5 goals, told reporters after Game 2 that the Panthers were “kind of out of it” due to having extended time off between playoff series. After a 6-goal performance in Game 2 that saw C Saw Reinhart record 4 assists, it seems like the Panthes are certainly back in it offensively.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers (48-24-5) visit the Boston Bruins (45-17-15) Saturday at TD Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Bruins lead 3-0

The Panthers rolled up an impressive 6-0 win on the road against the Ottawa Senators last time out Thursday, pushing against the total. Florida had dropped the 1st 2 stops on the trip in Toronto (6-4) and in Montreal (5-3), and the Over cashed in both outings.

These teams just met March 26 in Sunrise, with the Bruins posting a 4-3 win as moderate underdogs (+125) as the Over (6) connected. The B’s have won all 3 meetings in this series, including the only previous battle in Boston Oct. 30, a 3-2 win in overtime as the Under (6) cashed.

The Bruins pounded the Carolina Hurricanes on the road last time out Thursday, and Boston has won 3 in a row while cashing the Under in 4 consecutive outings. On home ice, Boston is 4-2 in the past 6 games while cashing the Over in 3 straight.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (34-17-3, 2.42 GAA, .913 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Linus Ullmark (20-9-7, 2.57 GAA, .917 SV%, 2 SO)

Bobrovsky kicked aside all 30 shots he faced in Ottawa Thursday for his 5th shutout of the season in the 6-0 win. He rebounded nicely after coughing up 5 goals on 16 shots in Toronto Monday, a game which saw him pulled after 2 periods.

Bob allowed 4 goals on just 21 shots in the 4-3 loss in Sunrise in the most recent meeting with the B’s March 26. He was also in between the pipes for the 3-1 loss at home Nov. 22, allowing 3 goals on 25 shots. Bobrovsky allowed 3 goals on 26 shots in the OTL Oct. 30 in South Florida, too.

Ullmark is also coming off a road shutout, turning back all 31 shots he faced against the Nashville Predators Tuesday in his most recent outing. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 7 consecutive starts dating back to March 5.

Ullmark allowed just a single goal on 28 shots in a 3-1 win in Florida Nov. 22, and he allowed 2 goals on 37 shots in a 3-2 OTW Oct. 30 at TD Garden.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 2

Moneyline

The BRUINS (-120) are a good play as small favorites on home ice. While 2 of the 1st 3 meetings have been decided by a single goal, the B’s have won all 3 matchups so far this season.

Until the Panthers (+100) figure out a way to get over the hump, you have to continue to back the B’s, especially with this little of risk.

Puck line/Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (+200) are worth a roll of the dice for the chance to potentially double up.

This play comes with plenty of risk, as Boston has won 3 in a row in the series, but it is 0-4 on the puck line as a favorite in the past 4 tries against Florida. The only game it won in the past 6 meetings, including 3 playoff games, was a 3-1 win in Florida as a slight underdog Nov. 22.

Still, Boston is running hot, posting 3 straight wins against 3 playoff contenders, outscoring the opposition 10-3 in the span.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-115) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Under has cashed in 4 straight games for Boston, although the offense has been good for 3.4 goals per game (GPG) in the previous 3 outings.

For Florida, the Over is 2-0-1 in the past 3 contests, lighting the lamp 13 times across the span for an average of 4.4 GPG. The Panthers got the shutout in Ottawa, but they allowed 11 goals in the 2 games prior to that, and Florida has allowed 3 or more goals in 9 of the past 12 outings.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers (4-3-0) take on the Boston Bruins (7-0-1) Monday at TD Garden. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers hit the road after a 4-game homestand that was capped off with a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken Saturday. They went 3-1 on the homestand and have won 4 out of 5 after a slow start to the season. C Aleksander Barkov and LW Matthew Tkachuk each only have 1 goal on the season, and it’s a matter of time before they heat up.

The Bruins brushed off a stunning 4-3 overtime defeat by the Anaheim Ducks Thursday with a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings Saturday. They are 1 of 2 remaining teams unbeaten in regulation. RW David Pastrnak is off to a buzzing start with 8 goals and 5 assists in 8 games.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (3-3-0, 2.88 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Linus Ullmark (3-0-1, 1.74 GAA, .937 SV%)

“Bob” stopped 30 of 32 shots in the win over the Kraken Saturday. He has won 3 of his last 4 starts. He lost his only start against the B’s last regular season and allowed 3 goals on 33 shots. He defeated them 3 times in the playoffs.

Ullmark was last between the pipes Thursday for the overtime loss to the Ducks. He stopped 28 of 32 shots in the affair. He saw the Panthers twice in the regular season last year and went 2-0-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .925 SV%. He was 3-3 with a 3.34 GAA and .896 SV% in their 1st-round loss to the Panthers in the playoffs.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 3, Panthers 2

Moneyline

Boston is 3-0-1 at home this season and was 34-4-3 there last season. It’s an incredibly tall task to upend the Bruins in their building. But Florida found the recipe to get past them in the playoffs, so I like them to keep it close.

Take the BRUINS -165 or look to the spread, which will be about the same price.

Puck line/Against the spread

I like the PANTHERS +1.5 (-165) because I still give them a chance to get it done. They are 3-4 on the PL and 1-2 on the road. So there is some risk here, but last year’s experience will bode well.

Over/Under

The Panthers are 3-3 O/U this year, and Boston is 2-6. I’d be more comfortable with a 6.5 number, but I’ll LEAN UNDER 6 (+105).

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 5 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Florida Panthers and the Boston Bruins meet Wednesday for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, as the series shifts back to Boston. Puck drop from TD Garden is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Bruins lead the series 3-1.

The Panthers suffered a disappointing 6-2 setback on home ice in Game 4 Sunday night, and Florida was outscored 10-4 in Sunrise in the last 2 games. As such, the Panthers were pushed to the brink of elimination, and have to win 3 in a row, including 2 in Boston, to stay alive.

The Bruins have scored 3 or more goals in each of the 4 games in this series, averaging 4.0 goals per game (GPG) so far. Boston is 4-for-14 (28.6%) on the power play in this series, which is slightly better than its 22.2% mark on the man advantage during the regular season, according to covers.com.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (24-20-3, 3.07 GAA, .901 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – regular season)

Bobrovsky allowed 5 goals on 30 shots, including a pair of power-play goals, in his 1st action in the crease since late March. He actually played pretty well considering the long layoff, and he gave his team a chance to win, down just 2-1 heading to the 3rd period before the wheels came off.

Ullmark had an eventful Game 4. He allowed just 2 goals on 43 shots, but was sent off at 16:49 of the 3rd period for trying to fight Florida forward Matthew Tkachuk during a fracas between the teams. Jeremy Swayman finished up and turned aside the only shot he faced.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 2

Moneyline

The Bruins (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your initial wager, and that’s quite expensive. While this is an elimination game, and I feel Boston is going to win, there is too much risk and not enough reward playing such a heavy favorite.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Puck line/Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (+100) are a much better play at even-money on the puck line.

Boston is 3-1 as a favorite in this series, which cashing on the puck line in each of the 3 victories. In fact, the margin of victory for the Bruins in their 3 wins is 2.7 GPG.

On the flip side, the Panthers +1.5 (-120) are 1-4 in the last 5 games dating back to the regular season as an underdog against the puck line.

Over/Under

I think the Over/Under 6 lands right on the number.

We have seen the Over and Under alternate in this series, with the Over cashing in Game 4. In the 4 games, we have had a total of 27 goals, or an average of 6.8 GPG. If I was forced to pick, I’d lean ever so slightly to the Over.

However, the best course of action is to PASS.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 2 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Florida Panthers visit the Boston Bruins Wednesday for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Puck drop from TD Garden is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Boston leads the series 1-0. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers got behind the 8-ball really quickly in Game 1, as RW Givani Smith was whistled for an interference call at 4:58 of the 1st period. Exactly 1 minute lately, RW David Pastrnak notched a power-play goal to put Boston up 1-0.

LW Brad Marchand added an even-strength goal early in the 2nd period to make it 2-0, and that stood up as the game-winning tally. Panthers LW Matthew Tkachuk had an unassisted goal in the 2nd, but that was their only marker. Boston led wire-to-wire, although it was a little more difficult than perhaps some expected.

Panthers at Bruins Game 2 projected goalies

Alex Lyon (9-4-2, 2.89 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .939 SV%, 2 SO – regular season)

Lyon stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced in Game 1. He stepped in for G Sergei Bobrovsky when the latter fell ill in late March, and was a major reason why the Panthers qualified for the postseason. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 8 of the past 9 starts, including his Game 1 showing.

Ullmark earned his 1st career NHL playoff victory by kicking aside 31 of the 32 shots he faced. The 29-year-old Swede has won 5 consecutive starts dating back to a setback on March 28 against the Nashville Predators. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 9 consecutive outings.

Panthers at Bruins Game 2 picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 1

Moneyline

The Bruins (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s just too much risk for not enough reward.

Even if you were to toss in the Bruins on a multi-team parlay, including them sucks the value out of your bet slip or ticket.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Puck line/Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (+110) are a good play at plus money.

Boston cashed on the puck line as the favorite in Game 1, and the B’s have cashed on the puck line in 3 of the past 4 games as a favorite dating back to April 9.

Boston covered the puck line in 2 of the 4 regular-season meetings against Florida, and it covered as the heavy favorite in Game 1. Look for more of the same in Game 2.

Over/Under

UNDER 6 (+100) at even money is the way to go.

The Under cashed in Game 1, as the Panthers were able to cobble together just 1 goal and Lyon did a good job holding the B’s to just 2 even-strength goals and one on the powerplay.

The Under is 7-3 in the past 10 Conference Quarterfinals games for the Panthers and is 4-1-1 in their last 6 against winning teams.

The Under is 15-5-1 in Boston’s past 21 against winning teams, and 18-6-2 in the past 26 outings at TD Garden. Look for another defensive slog in Game 2.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Wild Card Florida Panthers try to knock off Goliath in the top-seeded Boston Bruins Monday in Game 1 of their 1st-round series at TD Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

After winning the Presidents’ Trophy for the top team in the regular season last year, the Panthers enter as a +275 underdog to win the series. This is a different Panthers club with more physicality up front and less certainty down low. They were 6th in scoring at 3.5 goals per game and 21st allowing 3.3 goals per game. Florida actually handed Boston an overtime loss and 1 of their 12 regulation losses this season.

Boston put it all together this year, ranking 2nd with 3.7 goals per game. They boasted the top defense at 2.1 goals per game and the best penalty kill at 87.3%. The Bruins were even tougher at home, going 34-4-3. Boston has won 6 of the last 9, dating back to 2019, but went 1-1-1 against Florida this year.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Alex Lyon (9-4-2, 2.89 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – reg. season) vs. Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – reg. season)

The 30-year-old Lyon took over when Sergei Bobrovsky dealt with a nasty illness March 29 and hasn’t looked back. Lyon went 4-1-1 with a 1.83 GAA and .946 SV% in 6 April starts. He beat Boston in a 4-3 overtime win Jan. 28, stopping 38 of 40 shots. We could see Bobrovsky again, but it appears to be Lyon’s show for now.

Ullmark had one of the best goalie seasons in recent memory in an era where scoring is up. There might be some worry of rust because he has only played 3 games this month; albeit he still had a 2.06 GAA and .933 SV%. He was 2-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .925 SV% against the Panthers this season.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 1

Moneyline

The Panthers are a little bit of a wild card because they took the most shots at 36.8 per game while the Bruins allowed the 9th-fewest at 33.0 per game. Some of those could eventually trickle in. Not in Game 1, though, as Boston is battle-tested.

PASS on the moneyline and look to the spread.

Puck line/Against the spread

Two of the 3 meetings this year and 6 of the last 9 were decided by 2 or more goals. The Bruins were 21-20 on the puck line at home, but that’s not terrible considering they were likely favored in all of them and had to win by more than 1. The Bruins were 9-1-0 down the stretch and should take control of this one and not look back.

Take the BRUINS -1.5 (+115).

Over/Under

The total will be tricky because we’re dealing with a record-setting team against Lyon, who has 31 career starts under his belt. The Panthers were 2-4-4 O/U down the stretch, and Boston was 6-4. All 3 games went Over in the regular season. I, however, will LEAN UNDER 6.5 (-120).

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (1-0-0, 1.01 GAA, .970 SV%) vs. Linus Ullmark (1-0-0 2.00 GAA, .943 SV%)

Bobrovsky started in the Panthers’ win vs. the Islanders, a game in which he allowed only 1 goal on 33 shots in 59 minutes and 39 seconds on the ice.

Ullmark started in the Bruins’ win vs. the Capitals. He allowed 2 goals on 35 shots in 60 minutes of ice time.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 4, Bruins 3

Moneyline

LEAN FLORIDA (-140).

The Panthers are playing their 3rd road game in a row. I expect them to be focused before they head back to Florida for their home opener Wednesday vs. the Philadelphia Flyers. The Panthers have the better goalie in this matchup, which is why I like the visitors to cash a winning ML ticket.

Puck line/Against the spread

BACK BOSTON +1.5 (-230) to WIN a HALF UNIT.

Expect this to be a tough divisional matchup that could go either way. While I don’t believe the Bruins will pull this one out, I do believe it will be within 1 score. With this being the Bruins’ first home game vs. a divisional opponent, the  home crowd should definitely have an effect on this game.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 6.5 (-112).

This is the riskiest bet of my 3 suggestions. Both teams have decent goalies and good offenses, so the O/U could easily go either way.

With this being a divisional game and new season just underway, expect a high-scoring matchup. However, both teams have talented goalies who don’t allow many goals, so don’t be too confident in this one.
