The Detroit Red Wings (3-8-2) continue their two-game set with the host Florida Panthers (6-1-2) Tuesday at BB&T Center for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Red Wings-Panthers NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Red Wings at Panthers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Red Wings +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Panthers -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Red Wings +1.5 (-140) | Panthers -1.5 (+115)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Red Wings at Panthers: Projected starting goalies

Thomas Greiss (1-7-2, 3.00 GAA, .903 SV%) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (3-0-1, 3.57 GAA, .881 SV%)

Greiss finally was rewarded with a victory in the front end of this two-game set, stopping 36 of 37 shots in a 4-1 win Sunday in Sunrise, Fla. He dealt the Panthers their first setback in regulation this season. Greiss has been sharp, allowing three or fewer goals in each of his 10 appearances to date.

Bobrovsky will be looking to bounce back after allowing six goals on 41 shots in a 6-5 overtime loss against the Nashville Predators in his most recent appearance. It was his first setback in four starts. He has allowed three or more goals in three of his four appearances, but the Panthers have provided 4.3 goals per game in offensive support to give him a nice boost.

Red Wings at Panthers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Panthers 3, Red Wings 1

Money line (ML)

The Panthers (-250) have revenge on their minds after getting dumped on home ice by a 4-1 score against the lowly Red Wings. However, you can’t risk two and a half times your potential return as it’s a poor long-term betting strategy. Look to the puck line instead. PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The PANTHERS -1.5 (+115) are plus-money on the puck line, which is a much better value than the money line. Yes, Greiss shut them down last time out, and he has yielded three or fewer goals in each of his outings to date. But Florida will find a way behind Bob, splitting this two-game set.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (+100) is worth a small-unit play here. Confidence is not high as the Florida offense has been high-flying, but Greiss has shut everyone down this season, and certainly has deserved more than the one win in 10 appearances. He will keep the Panthers offense at bay, and the Red Wings offense won’t be nearly as prolific as Sunday’s showing.

Nashville Predators at Florida Panthers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Nashville Predators at Florida Panthers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Nashville Predators (5-5-0) play the second contest in a two-game road set against the Florida Panthers (5-0-2) at BB&T Center Friday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Predators-Panthers NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Predators at Panthers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Panthers -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Predators +1.5 (-300) | Panthers -1.5 (+230)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Predators at Panthers: Projected starting goalies

Pekka Rinne (2-2-0, 2.97 GAA, .885 SV%) vs. Chris Driedger (2-0-1, 1.95 GAA, .937 SV%)

Rinne is likely to get the nod after G Juuse Saros started Thursday’s game. Saros allowed five goals on just 24 shots, and he was yanked after two periods. Rinne stopped all 12 shots he faced in the third period and into overtime, picking up the surprise victory.

Driedger is all but confirmed to start after G Sergei Bobrovsky allowed six goals on 41 shots in Thursday’s 6-5 OT loss. Driedger has allowed exactly two goals in each of his three outings so far this season, and he hasn’t lost in regulation while winning two of the starts.

Predators at Panthers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Panthers 3, Predators 2

Money line (ML)

The PANTHERS (-110) are a good bet to bounce back on home ice after Thursday’s thriller which saw them come up on the short end against the Predators. Florida is 8-3 in its past 11 games when working on no rest.

Against the spread (ATS)

The teams played a one-goal game Thursday, and you can expect another close battle when they run it back Friday. The Panthers -1.5 (+230) are a tempting play at this price, and might be worth a small-unit play, but it’s probably best to avoid since they couldn’t buy a shot against Rinne when he entered in relief Thursday. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-115) is a good play despite the fact there were 11 total goals Thursday. It’s the second matchup of the back-to-back, and the legs should be a little rubbery after having played less than 24 hours ago. The Under is 4-1 in Nashville’s past five when playing on no rest, too. Despite Thursday’s high-scoring affair, the Under is still 4-1-1 in the past six meetings, and 7-2-3 in the past 12 battles in Sunrise, Fla.

Nashville Predators at Florida Panthers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Nashville Predators at Florida Panthers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Florida Panthers (5-0-1) and Nashville Predators (4-5-0) play the first half of their back-to-back set in Sunrise, Fla., Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Predators-Panthers NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Predators at Panthers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:08 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Panthers -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Predators +1.5 (-275) | Panthers -1.5 (+220)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Predators at Panthers: Projected starting goalies

Juuse Saros (3-3-0, .908 SV%, 2.82 GAA) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (3-0-0, .894 SV%, 2.87 GAA)

Saros allowed 4 goals on 27 shots in a loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning his last time out. It was the second time this season he has allowed 4 or more goals in a game in six outings. He stopped 29 of 30 shots against the Chicago Blackhawks the time before.

Bobrovsky is a perfect 3-0, and he has benefited from goal support. He’s coming off his best game of the season, albeit against the Detroit Red Wings, in stopping 25 of 27 shots on goal. It was the fewest goals he has allowed in a game this year.

Predators at Panthers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Predators 3, Panthers 2

Money line (ML)

The Predators and Panthers are ranked quite evenly in analytics such as total shots attempts (including blocked and missed shots) and scoring chances at 5-on-5 play. The Panthers are seventh in Corsi For percentage (53.30) and the Predators are 10th (52.11).

The Panthers’ power play has been one of their biggest strengths through six games. They have 7 goals on 19 opportunities and the special teams match up well against a Predators side with 13 power-play goals allowed in 37 shorthanded situations for a penalty-kill percentage of 64.86.

Bobrovsky certainly has the pedigree to stay on his correction course following an awful 2019-20 campaign, but Saros has looked sharper and been more active early in the season. Give the visitors the edge in the goaltending battle and back PREDATORS (+100) for the modest upset.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the spread. These teams are well-matched analytically, and unless the Predators get into penalty trouble, this should be a 1-goal game. There’s just no reason to lay the -275 on the Preds to keep it within 1 goal in a potential loss as a $10 bet would return a profit of just $3.64.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the UNDER 5.5 (+100) as the more profitable side of the line at even-money. Bobrovsky was sharp his last time out and Saros has been a steady presence for Nashville. The Predators haven’t scored more than 3 goals in a game since their second outing of the season (Jan. 16).

Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Florida Panthers (4-0-1) continue a two-game set against the Detroit Red Wings (2-5-2) at the Little Caesars Arena Sunday for a 5 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Panthers-Red Wings NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Panthers at Red Wings: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers -165 (bet $165 to win $100) | Red Wings +140 (bet $100 to win $140)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Panthers -1.5 (+155) | Red Wings +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Panthers at Red Wings: Projected starting goalies

Chris Driedger (1-0-1, 1.92 GAA, .934 SV%) at Thomas Greiss (0-4-2, 3.01 GAA, .897 SV%)

Driedger is expected to make the start with the quick turnaround despite the fact Sergei Bobrovsky looked sharp in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win. Driedger picked up a victory last season against the Red Wings, allowing four goals on 39 shots in a 5-4 win on Dec. 28, 2019, in Sunrise.

Greiss will likely be pressed into action again despite the back-to-back situation. Backup Jonathan Bernier is dealing with an upper-body injury, and he was unavailable for Saturday’s game. Greiss did well, giving his team a chance in Saturday’s outing.

Panthers at Red Wings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Panthers 4, Red Wings 2

Money line (ML)

The PANTHERS (-165) will have a rested goaltender, and that will pay big dividends in the second end of the back-to-back situation. Florida has won seven in a row in this series, and 13 of their past 16 trips to the Motor City. The favorite has also cashed in seven straight in this series, so the Panthers are a good bet.

Against the spread (ATS)

The PANTHERS -1.5 (+155) are worth a small-unit bet in this road outing, as they look for better results than Saturday. Greiss is working for a second straight day and might not be quite as sharp as he was last time out.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-120) is also worth a small-unit wager, and you will need the Panthers to do most of the lifting. Driedger could be the No. 1 goalie on many NHL teams, and he has allowed just two goals in each of his outings.

The Over is 5-2-1 in the past eight games overall for the Panthers. For the Red Wings, all trends point to the Under, but tired legs after playing less than 24 hours ago will lead to more defensive lapses and more scoring chances for both sides.

Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Florida Panthers (3-0-1) travel to meet the Detroit Red Wings (2-5-1) at Little Caesars Arena Saturday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Panthers-Red Wings NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Panthers at Red Wings: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:09 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Red Wings +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Panthers -1.5 (+155) | Red Wings +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Panthers at Red Wings: Projected starting goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (2-0-0, 3.35 GAA, .879 SV%) at Thomas Greiss (0-4-1, 3.04 GAA, .899 SV%)

Bobrovsky has made a pair of starts after finally being deemed fit to make his season debut Jan. 19. He has allowed seven goals but received plenty of offensive support with 4.5 goals per game. Both of Bob’s starts have been one-goal wins, and each outing has required at least overtime to decide a winner.

Greiss is finding life tough in the Motor City as he actually has a better GAA and SV% than his counterpart, but it’s all about offensive support. Detroit has scored a total of four goals in his four starts, while he has yielded three or fewer goals during the starts. He has deserved a better fate.

Panthers at Red Wings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Panthers 4, Red Wings 2

Money line (ML)

The PANTHERS’ -175 is right about my limit for a standalone money line play. But Florida will be worth it as Detroit has struggled to score goals. The Wings won’t be able to penetrate the net of Bobrovsky, who is generally very good against the dregs of the league. He was 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA, .980 SV% and one shutout in two starts against the Red Wings last season. Florida has won six in a row in this series, too, and six of the past seven visits to the LCA.

Against the spread (ATS)

The PANTHERS -1.5 (+155) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line as the Red Wings offense has been rather toothless. Florida has put up plenty of numbers to back its tendy.

Over/Under (O/U)

I expect the O/U 6 (-110) to be right on the number, so I’d avoid playing this total. If I had a lean, I’d look Over, which is 5-1-1 in Florida’s past seven, although the Under is 4-1 in Detroit’s past five. The best bet is the one you don’t make sometimes. AVOID.

Chicago Blackhawks at Florida Panthers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Florida Panthers NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Chicago Blackhawks (0-3-0) play the second game a two-game set with the Florida Panthers (1-0-0) at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., Tuesday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Blackhawks-Panthers NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Panthers beat the ‘Hawks 5-2 Sunday with goals from five different players. G Chris Driedger stopped 25 of 27 shots in the victory.

Blackhawks at Panthers: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:40 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blackhawks +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | Panthers -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blackhawks +1.5 (-185) | Flyers -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -11 | U: -110)

Blackhawks at Panthers: Projected starting goalies

Malcolm Subban (0-1-0, .848 SV%, 5.03 GAA) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (2019-20 stats: 23-19-6, .900 SV%, 3.23 GAA)

Subban will come in for Game 2 after Collin Delia allowed 5 goals on 29 shots Sunday. Subban, the presumed No. 1 goaltender in Chicago allowed 5 goals on 33 shots in a loss to the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the season opener, but he has been off since.

Bobrovsky will make his delayed season debut for the Panthers after being deemed unfit to play coming out of training camp. The former Vezina Trophy winner’s record and stats from last season look better than his play suggested in his first year after signing a 7-year, $70-million contract.

Blackhawks at Panthers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Panthers 5, Blackhawks 0

Money line (ML)

The PANTHERS (-175) are worth the high price against the miserable Blackhawks. Chicago has given up 5 goals in all three games and has been outscored 15-6. Injuries have played a role, but this is a team in the very early stages of what will be a long rebuild after a decade of immense success. Goaltending is the biggest concern for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, the Panthers started well with Sunday’s win after having their first two games of the season postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Dallas Stars organization. LW Jonathan Huberdeau notched 3 points Sunday and will lead the offense all season.

I’m also expecting the best from Bobrovsky as he tries to write off the lost 2019-20 campaign. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner with the Columbus Blue Jackets is a dark horse for the award in this shortened 2020-21 season.

Against the spread (ATS)

Continue to hammer the puck line against the Blackhawks until they prove able to cover on a consistent basis. The PANTHERS -1.5 (+150) are the play to win by at least 2 goals. I’d also play a partial-unit wager on the alternate line of -2.5 (+260) for a win by 3 or more goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6.5 (-110) is a bit of a contrarian play but leans on the expectation of a strong performance by the well-rested Bobrovsky. There’s no reason to expect any defensive improvement from the Blackhawks this early in the season, and the offense is relying much too heavily on LW Alex DeBrincat.
