The FIU Golden Panthers (3-4, 0-4 CUSA) and the Sam Houston State Bearkats (0-6, 0-3) meet Wednesday at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium in Huntsville, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the FIU vs. Sam Houston State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

This is the 1st meeting between these new Conference USA foes.

The Golden Panthers are skidding hard, dropping 3 in a row after a 3-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) start. That includes an embarrassing 27-14 setback at home in Miami against UTEP last Wednesday  as a 3.5-point favorite. The Under has cashed in 3 of the past 4 games for FIU.

The Bearkats have dropped all 6 games this season, an almost direct result of an offense just not up to FBS standards. Sam Houston has scored 16 or fewer points in 5 of 6 games, including a 27-13 loss at New Mexico State last Wednesday at a 4-point underdog.

The defense has been decent at times, including a total of 27 points allowed in the first 2 games against BYU and Air Force. The Under is 4-2 in 6 games overall.

FIU at Sam Houston State picks and predictions

Prediction

FIU 23, Sam Houston 19

Moneyline

FIU (+170) is worth a look as a moderate underdog on the road.

The Golden Panthers have experienced success this season, including a road win at UConn back on Sept. 16. The Golden Panthers have dropped 3 in a row, and the offense has gone south during the skid, averaging just 12.3 PPG. However, FIU should get well against a Sam Houston (-210) side with an equally inept offense.

Against the spread

FIU +5.5 (-110) is a decent play if you’re not quite feeling the Golden Panthers straight up. This is a big number for a winless Sam Houston -5.5 (-110) side to be laying.

The Bearkats have covered at a 1-0-1 ATS clip in 2 previous home games, so be careful. However, Sam Houston is 1-2-1 ATS in the past 4 games overall, and the defense has fallen apart in the past 4, allowing 27 or more points in 3 of those outings.

Over/Under

OVER 41.5 (-115) is the play, but go lightly.

This is a very low number, but FIU’s offense has struggled lately, and Sam Houston’s offense has struggled all season. However, both teams have been very giving on defense lately, and these moribund offenses should be able to find some semblance of success against each other.

UTEP at FIU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s UTEP at FIU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The UTEP Miners (1-5, 0-2 CUSA) and the FIU Golden Panthers (3-3, 0-3) meet Wednesday night at Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami for a Conference USA league game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UTEP vs. FIU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Miners are coming off a 24-10 setback at home in the Sun Bowl against Louisiana Tech last Friday, failing to cover a 1.5-point spread. Not only has UTEP dropped the past 4 games, it has failed to cover each game, too. In fact, the Miners are winless in 5 tries against FBS teams, also going 0-5 against the spread (ATS).

The Golden Panthers were doubled up at New Mexico State 34-17, not even coming close to covering a 6.5-point number. The last time FIU was home, it was pounded by Liberty 38-6 on Sept. 23, snapping a 3-game winning streak.

FIU ranks 124th in the NCAA stats with 207.7 rushing yards allowed. That’s the one thing UTEP does well on offense, averaging 158.5 yards per game, ranking 64th, but the offense has managed just 16.2 PPG, good for 130th in FBS.

UTEP at FIU picks and predictions

Prediction

FIU 23, UTEP 18

Moneyline

FIU (-135) is a good play at home, as the Golden Panthers have had a measure of success this season. While it was completely outplayed at New Mexico State last weekend, the Golden Panthers have showed resiliency before. FIU topped North Texas in a high-scoring 46-39 win on Sept. 9 at home, and it went on the road to top UConn on Sept. 16, winning 24-17.

UTEP (+110) has no such victories on its resume. The Miners has topped only Incarnate Word of the FCS back on Sept. 2, and UTEP is winless in 3 games on the road, losing the past 2 games by 21 or more points.

Against the spread

FIU -2.5 (+100) is a decent play as long as this stays under a flat 3, especially at even-money.

Again, UTEP +2.5 (-120) has failed to cover all 5 games against FBS opponents this season. The Golden Panthers have covered 2 of the past 4 games, and they’re the lean, especially since they’re at home. As long as FIU can manage to at least slow the run game, it will get the job done.

Over/Under

UNDER 43.5 (-105) is a low number, but these are both dysfunctional offenses.

FIU manages just 328.8 total yards per game, and 107.5 rushing yards per game, while cobbling together just 20.7 PPG.

UTEP has managed 346.2 total yards per game, while going for just 187.7 passing yards per outing, and the Miners are good for just 16.2 PPG. And if you take out the 28 points scored against Incarnate Word, the Miners offense has managed just 13.8 PPG in 5 games against FBS opponents. The defense has been shaky, allowing 24 or more points in 4 straight games, it should be decent enough against a struggling FIU squad.

FIU at New Mexico State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s FIU at New Mexico State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The FIU Golden Panthers (3-2, 0-2 CUSA) and the New Mexico State Aggies (2-3, 0-1) meet Wednesday at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M. for a Conference USA clash. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the FIU vs. New Mexico State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Golden Panthers were smacked back down to Earth last time out on Sept. 23, falling 38-6 at home against Liberty. That setback halted a 3-game win streak, including covers in the previous 2, both against FBS opponents. The Under is 4-1 in 5 games, including both games inside Conference USA.

The Aggies have alternated losses and wins all season, losing last time out at Hawaii on Sept. 23 by a 20-17 score, pushing at most shops as the Under (55.5) comfortably connected. New Mexico State has hit the Under in the past 3 games, after opening with a pair of Over results.

FIU at New Mexico State picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico State 29, FIU 23

Moneyline

New Mexico State (-230) will cost you nearly 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s just too risky.

FIU (+188) beat UConn in their most recent road game on Sept. 16, winning 24-17 as a 7-point underdog. It also covered against Louisiana Tech in a 22-17 loss in the opener. However, the Golden Panthers struggle to stop the run, allowing 214.0 yards per game, while yielding 447.8 total yards overall.

On the flip side, the Aggies have rolled up 202.2 yards per game on the ground, and that’s the biggest key in determining a winner in this game.

Against the spread

FIU +6.5 (-115) is a strong play, but play it lightly. If FIU was to get to a flat 7, or an even more favorable 7 and a hook, go a little more aggressively then.

The Golden Panthers have covered both games on the road this season. The Aggies are just 1-1 ATS in 2 games at home, while going 2-1-1 ATS in the past 4 games overall.

Over/Under

OVER 48.5 (-110) is the play, but go very lightly.

The Under has hit in 3 in a row for New Mexico State, as the defense has been much better lately. However, QB Diego Pavia and the offense has been much improved. He has completed 63.9% of his pass attempts for 1,073 yards, 10 TD and 4 INT, and he also leads the team with 270 rushing yards.

The Aggies will be able to move the ball at will against the leaky defense of the Golden Panthers. FIU has also cashed the Under in the past 2 games, but it has yielded 38 or more points in 2 of the past 3 games, too. This game should resemble FIU’s 46-39 win against North Texas, as neither team is very good defensively, but it has capable offense.
