All Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Sightseeing Log locations

All Sightseeing Log locations from FF14’s latest expansion, Endwalker. Follow this guide to get the achievement easily in FFXIV.

With every expansion, Final Fantasy XIV adds a series of Sightseeing Log locations to visit and collect in exchange for minions, achievements, and titles. Endwalker is no different, adding 46 vistas for you to explore starting at level 80. After completing every entry in your new journal for version 6.0, you’ll receive the End in Sight achievement.

So far, every location in FFXIV Endwalker only requires you to use the “/lookout” emote upon arriving at your destination, so no strange action requests like you’ve seen in previous expansions. However, a majority of these log marks will require you to fly, so it’s best to wait until you’ve unlocked all of the Aetheryte Currents before working towards Sightseeing Log completion.

Final Fantasy 14 players will receive free game time to make up for congestion issues

FF14 boss Naoki Yoshida has shared details on the login issues and the compensation players can expect.

After almost a year of excitement, Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker’s highly anticipated early access period has been predictably turbulent, with players all over the world reporting an inability to log into the critically acclaimed MMO’s latest expansion. According to a blog post published in response to the issue, fixes and compensation are on the way.

It’s no surprise that Endwalker has already attracted such enormous crowds. Last week, Square Enix warned players that server traffic would likely reach unprecedented levels at launch. Given that this weekend’s early access period has already faced massive problems with congestion, it’s not unreasonable to suggest things will get worse before they get better.

As a means of remedying this, Final Fantasy 14 boss Naoki Yoshida recently took to the game’s Lodestone blog in order to share details of why the login issues have occurred, what compensation players can expect and how spamming dance emotes doesn’t actually allow anyone to bypass a hardware issue this complex.

“Across the FFXIV service as a whole, the number of simultaneous logins has reached the hardware limit, and as a result, logging in has required an extremely long time, especially during ‘peak hours’ when we tend to see increased player activity,” Yoshida-san writes. “For this, I am truly sorry.”

“Considering that we are asking players to wait in queues for extremely long periods of time and the ongoing situation making it difficult to play normally, we have decided that during the official release of Endwalker on December 7, we will be granting 7 days of free game time to all players who own the full version of the game and have an active subscription.”

Yoshida-san also notes that this includes anyone who is currently subscribed to the 30-day free play period included with the full version of the game. Players with multiple accounts can also benefit from free game time, which may be extended even further depending on how the congestion situation develops from here on out.

As for the congestion itself, players have reportedly experienced a variety of different errors. If you’ve encountered an Error 2002 message, Square Enix suggests using an ethernet cable to avoid temporary lapses in stability, which can affect login attempts. For those playing on PS4 or PS5, it is recommended to ensure you don’t have Rest Mode or Power Saving Mode enabled. In both cases, these measures will decrease the chance of disconnecting during long queues.

Other errors including 4004, 5003 and 5006 all pertain strictly to the length of time you spend queuing, meaning there’s no easy fix for them. Instead, Square Enix has shared details of what it has perceived as ‘peak times’ during the early access period. It is recommended that all players avoid the following times to maximize the likelihood of logging in as quickly as possible.

  • North American Data Center: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. GMT
  • European Data Center: 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. PST / 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. GMT
  • Japan Data Center: 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. PST / 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. GMT

Finally, Yoshida-san explains that anyone claiming to evade automatic logout timers using dance emotes or dummy attack animations is spoofing. While it may look as if they’re staying logged in and taking up space in the server, they’re still subject to the same 30-minute inactivity timer as everybody else. Speaking of which, if you’re being logged out during the end credits sequence for any of the game’s various expansions, Yoshida-san has the following advice:

“We apologise for the inconvenience, but when viewing the ending credits for A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers, we ask that you press a button on your controller, press a key on your keyboard, or click with your mouse. By doing so before 30 minutes pass, you will be able to reset the automatic logout timer. Please also note that simply moving your mouse cursor will not prevent automatic logout. This issue will be added to a list of known issues in a separate announcement.

Once again, I would like to apologise for the many inconveniences caused to our players as a result of the congestion that has continued since the start of Early Access. I am truly sorry, and we will continue to do our utmost to address the congestion situation and the errors during login queues as soon as possible.”

Final Fantasy 14 servers suffer from congestion issues during Endwalker launch

Error 2002 and others are crashing game clients.

Congestion issues are plaguing Final Fantasy 14  servers during the release of Endwalker.

With  Final Fantasy 14  exploding over the past few months, most people had a sneaking suspicion that the game’s servers would struggle during Endwalker‘s  launch. Square Enix itself  warned players that congestion problems  were likely on the way — and it turns out that guess was dead-on. Early access for the latest expansion thus far has been a bit of a mess.

“The login server is currently congested and players may see Error 2002 when selecting a character in the Character Selection menu,” Square Enix said  on Twitter. “Should you encounter Error 2002 when attempting to log in, we apologize for the inconvenience, but ask that you wait a while before trying again.”

It’s unfortunate, as many players face connection issues resulting in having to log back into Final Fantasy 14  then wait in a several-thousand-person queue to get back in.

For all the headaches, though, it’s nothing Final Fantasy 14  hasn’t been through before. Stormblood, the game’s second expansion, was nearly unplayable during its 2017 release date. I have a distinct memory of players forming lines just to complete quests so that the servers didn’t buckle under the pressure. Truly one of the  best communities in gaming.

Final Fantasy 14 roundtable: Our favorite moments, characters, music and more

Ahead of Endwalker’s release, let’s look back at our favorite memories of Final Fantasy 14.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker has officially entered early access for the general public, ushering in the conclusion to the near-decade long story that started with A Realm Reborn in 2013.

Though Endwalker isn’t the end of Final Fantasy 14, it is set to conclude the conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark, all the while wrapping up many of the game’s plot points and character journeys we’ve been following for the last eight years. Final Fantasy 14 exploded in popularity over the summer, so much so that the servers are set to be tested for the large influx of players ready to bear witness to the conclusion of many of the game’s story arcs.

Oh, and even Doja Cat has spent some time wandering around Eorzea in her free time.

In celebration of the release of Endwalker, I thought it’d be a fun exercise to get ForTheWin‘s resident Final Fantasy 14 players together for a little roundtable discussion on some of our favorite (and least favorite) moments and experiences in the game.

Joining me on this trip down memory lane are FTW editor and columnist Nick Schwartz and GLHF’s Kyle Campbell. Let’s begin!

Spoilers for Final Fantasy 14 up to Shadowbringers’ patch 5.55 in the text and links, so be warned!

Sia covers ‘Fly Me to The Moon’ in stunning music video for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker

Let me (log in) among the stars.

Sia, the world-renowned singer and songwriter, released a cover of ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ on Thursday as part of a collaboration with Final Fantasy 14.

Endwalker, the next expansion for Final Fantasy 14, directly involves the moon itself in its storyline, so the award-winning artist performed the classic song in a dazzling new music video. Just in time for Endwalker’s  early access release too

It’s likely to tug at the heartstrings of any longtime Final Fantasy 14 player too. Several critical moments from the game’s decade-long storyline are all over the music video, from the liberation of Ala Mhigo in Stormblood  to the Warrior of Darkness making a grand entrance in Shadowbringers.

It’s a stunner, regardless of whether you’re familiar with Final Fantasy 14  or not. Take a listen in the link below, or watch the whole thing on  Youtube.

The gaming community as a whole is buzzing over Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker  right now. A group of fans created a hilarious  anime opening theme for the expansion, while the 2021 CEO Fighting Game Championships created a “retirement home” at the event. Safe to say that a lot of people are excited for this!

Fans create utterly absurd anime intro for Final Fantasy 14

Unofficial but no less extraordinary.

A group of passionate fans made an anime opening for Final Fantasy 14.

As first spotted by PCGamesN, several content creators came together to make a mock anime OP for  Final Fantasy 14’s Endwalker  expansion. Specifically Husky by the Geek, Alex Moukala, Studio Nicktendo, Magitek Productions and Denmo Mcstronghuge. They didn’t just cut together some game footage and attach a random anime theme song onto it, oh no — the music was an original composition written for this fake intro.

Check out the unofficial anime opening for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker  for yourself below. It’s hilariously well put together, to the point where you could probably fool someone into believing it was official.

Square Enix itself took an interest in the fake opening as well, with Final Fantasy 14’s  composer Masayoshi Soken sharing a good deal of enthusiasm for the fan project.

“What the heeeeeeeeeeeeell!! This is our Eorzea,” Soken said  on Twitter. “What a Passionate song! We’ve been in a really cool world. Lets goooooooooooooooo.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Soken. The artwork for the fan-made Endwalker  opening is brilliant too

Fully expecting Endwalker  to mark a new high-point in the MMORPG’s popularity, Square Enix announced  that players should expect server congestion, which is a safe bet. After all, even  Doja Cat is playing these days.

Final Fantasy 14 servers might face ‘congestion’ issues during Endwalker’s launch

Square Enix expects heavy server loads during early access.

Endwalker, the latest expansion for Final Fantasy 14, will probably stress its servers like never before.

Early access for Endwalker  begins Dec. 3 and Square Enix is warning fans ahead of time that servers might buckle a bit under the demand. It happens every expansion launch but given the dramatic increase in new players, especially over the summerEndwalker’s  release might be shakier than HeavenswardStormblood  or even Shadowbringers  were.

In a new blog post on Final Fantasy 14’s  website, the development team chose to address the impending server issues head-on.

“As such, there is a high likelihood of congestion that will result in [servers] reaching maximum login capacity and lengthy wait times when logging in,” Square Enix said. “We would like to apologize for making this sort of announcement at a time when many of you are looking forward to the expansion, as well as for inconveniences that may be caused by congestion.”

The post also mentions Square Enix’s efforts to combat these issues, including updating server infrastructure and raising simultaneous login limits. However, the team also stresses that they could not add new servers to Final Fantasy 14  in time for Endwalker’s  release due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. A problem  NintendoSony  and  Valve  are experiencing with hardware as well.

There’s probably not a single Final Fantasy 14  fan that won’t run into issues during Endwalker’s  release. That’s right —  not even Doja Cat.

Rapper Doja Cat is playing ‘Final Fantasy 14’

Even Doja Cat is playing the critically acclaimed MMORPG.

Doja Cat, one of the most popular rappers around, seems to have taken up Final Fantasy 14

Yes, Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, better known to the masses as Doja Cat, is now a citizen of Eorzea. Or rather, she’s playing Square Enix’s ridiculously popular MMORPG Final Fantasy 14. The Grammy-nominated artist shared a tweet of a female Elezen from the game, which is presumably her character. It looks like the in-game equivalent of Doja Cat, anyway. And it seems she just started playing, as the pic is definitely from A Realm Reborn’s opening cutscene.

Check out the tweet in question for yourself below.

Creator of ‘Final Fantasy’ finishes ‘Final Fantasy 14’ in a month’s time

The father of Final Fantasy is all caught up just in time for Endwalker!

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, is all caught up on Final Fantasy 14’s storyline — and it only took him a month to do so, PCGamesN  reported Monday. Give or take a couple of days!

Sakaguchi was the director of the first Final Fantasy  that came out way back in 1987. He directed the following four mainline entries in the series and was a supervisor on many others before leaving Square Enix in the early 2000s. Recently, he began playing Final Fantasy 14, the MMORPG that takes several hundred hours to get through. Yes, hundreds of hours. Sakaguchi journey through Final Fantasy 14  started Sept. 27 and he had already finished several expansions worth of storylines by Oct. 31

The famed director has chronicled everything on Twitter, and it’s been a treat for fans, especially when Sakaguchi notes all the references in Final Fantasy 14  to the games he made.

“Goblin-kun,” Sakaguchi said on Twitter. “Somehow, this reunion makes me cry.”

Sakaguchi is talking about Goblins being one of the first enemies in the series that he and the development team came up with, which you can check below.

Long-time Final Fantasy fans have taken plenty of opportunities to get a selfie with Sakaguchi’s in-game avatar. The tiny Lalafell look sure suits him!

It’s safe to say Sakaguchi is a Final Fantasy 14 fan now. You’d have to be nuts to rush through the game otherwise! With the Endwalker  expansion coming out later this month, you have to wonder if Sakaguchi will be beating down the server doors just like every other fan. Maybe Final Fantasy 14  game director Naoki Yoshida is taking note of Sakaguchi’s journey too, eager to see what his predecessor thinks.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl and Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker don’t need much introduction. And if you don’t like MMO grinding or cute cartoon monsters, how about breeding some dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution 2?
