Notre Dame baseball lands pitcher/first baseman transfer for 2026

Notre Dame gets a left-handed bat who can pitch.

Notre Dame baseball is getting pitcher/first baseman Sean Scanlon for the 2026 season.

He’ll be coming to the Fighting Irish for his grad year — Scanlon is currently entering his senior year at Holy Cross.

Scanlon throws right-handed and bats lefty, and the 6-3, 220-pound Scanlon has been All-Patriot League Second Team in 2022 and 2023.

He pitched 5.0 innings in two games in 2024, with a 7.20 ERA, 5 K, 2 walks, 7 hits, 4 runs, and a 0-0 record.

Scanlon batted .286 with 2 homers, 6 RBI, 6 hits, 1 double, 6 BB, and 9 strikeouts in 6 games.

His fielding numbers look clean, with no errors in the winter/spring of 2024.

Notre Dame will be happy to welcome this left-handed-hitting first baseman.

Five-star basketball recruit has Notre Dame on shortlist

This highly-ranked recruit could help restore Notre Dame basketball to competitive status.

Jalen Haralson, a five-star recruit, has narrowed his list down to Notre Dame, Michigan State and Indiana.

The senior at La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere plays the perimeter, and he stands 6-foot-7. He plays to announce his decision at 7 pm Eastern on Wednesday, September 25th.

He is currently ranked 14th in the country.

Haralson has been playing in Nike’s EYBL as a member of the Indy Heat. He’s been averaging 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

He has also played for USA Basketball’s U17 team — that one won a FIBA U17 World Championship. Haralson had 11.1 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game with that team.

If he chooses Notre Dame, he obviously could be immensely helpful to a rebuilding program that is looking to return to the NCAA Tournament sooner rather than later.

Notre Dame lacrosse lands highly touted recruit

Notre Dame lacrosse lands a four-star goalie with skills and size.

Kieran Walsh has committed to Notre Dame.

The four-star recruit is ranked 32nd among goalies for the class of 2026. The 6-foot, 4-inch Walsh weighs 185 pounds and is right-handed.

Walsh will be joining the Fighting Irish out of Chaminade High School in New York after considering Cornell, Georgetown, North Carolina, Virgina and Penn.

He posted an 11-4 record and 94.31 rating in the 2024 season.

He also played for Team Long Island and Inside Lacrosse had this to say about Walsh’s play: “You notice the size (6-foot-4) right away, and that feels like it was imposing for opposing shooters. But there’s a calm there in the way he saves, the clean stickwork and the ability to find a smooth pass and move out of the cage. He just oozes high-level ability.”

And this: “A 6-foot-4 righty who plays for Chaminade and wears No. 44, it’s impossible to ignore the Liam Entenmann vibes he gives off.”

The Peyton Bowen saga continues, has not yet signed with Oregon and considering options

This is a crazy development

The Irish lost their top rated commitment yesterday when Texas safety [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag] decided to flip his commitment to [autotag]Oregon[/autotag]. What was a bit odd about this was that Bowen didn’t actually sign his letter of intent, keeping the door open for himself.

Well, today the rumors have Bowen going back on his commitment to the Ducks. According to The Athletic’s Ari Wasserman, it’s a “very steep uphill climb for Oregon to land Peyton Bowen’s signature.” This drama surrounded Bowen has gotten absolutely nuts.

All reports heading into the early signing period were that he was going to keep his commitment with the Irish, but that clearly didn’t happen.

Could [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] creep back into Bowen’s eye and sign with the Irish? At this point in time who really knows what he is thinking. Some people believe [autotag]Oklahoma[/autotag] might be his next commitment destination.

His mother sure seemed happy her son had chosen the Irish only to take the hat off and pick Oregon. Her demeanor changed immediately.

This is a situation worth monitoring as Bowen’s talent outweighs potential problems. We will find out soon where he ultimately ends up but at this point in time, all we know really is that it’s trending away from the Ducks.

Update: As of 2:42 p.m. CT, Bowen has committed to Oklahoma.
