Michigan State Basketball has had a rough couple of weeks. After suffering a tough loss to Purdue, the Spartans have been unable to play any games and redeem themselves due to a COVID-19 breakout on the team. However, the Spartans are still receiving some votes in the latest Ferris Mowers Men’s College Basketball poll.

MSU still received four votes in the latest poll, despite their struggles.

In terms of Big Ten schools, the conference is very well represented in the top ten. Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin all sit in the top ten despite Michigan’s recent loss to Minnesota.

The LSU Tigers men’s basketball team enters week 8 of the season with a 10-2 record.

Despite having only two losses, the Tigers have yet to play a top 25 team. The lack of a ranked win has kept the Tigers out of both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 poll all season.

Last week, LSU took down Arkansas 92-76 on Wednesday. Then on Saturday, the Tigers needed a come from behind win to beat South Carolina 85-80.

Heading into this week, LSU hosts No. 16 Alabama on Tuesday night. On Saturday, the Tigers head to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats in Rupp Arena.

A win on Tuesday would give the Tigers the first ranked win of the season. Even though LSU is still out of the polls, the program has two chances this week to prove that the team is worthy of being ranked.

LSU did receive 14 votes to be ranked this week in the coaches poll. The program now sits behind Oklahoma State, UConn, Saint Louis, USC, Louisville, Duke, Boise State, Drake and Xavier.

Elsewhere in the SEC, the conference has three teams ranked in the Coaches Poll this week.

Here is the latest Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll for Week 8.

LSU basketball not ranked in Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

The LSU basketball team is not ranked in the AP Top 25 or the Ferris Mowers coaches poll despite sitting at 8-2 on the season.

The LSU Tigers are not ranked in either the AP Top 25 Poll or the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll this week.

Although the Tigers are 8-2, the program has yet to beat or play a ranked opponent. All 10 of the Tigers’ games up to this point have been against unranked opponents.

LSU’s game against Missouri last weekend was postponed and the Tigers played Ole Miss instead. Had the Missouri game taken place, a win for LSU would have likely pushed them to being ranked in both polls.

In the AP Top 25 poll, the Tigers received seven votes this week. But in the coaches poll, LSU is not listed in the receiving votes category.

The Tigers are currently scheduled to play just one ranked SEC opponent- No. 10 Tennessee- in conference play. In the Big 12/SEC Challenge, LSU will host No. 15 Texas Tech.

Overall in the SEC, the conference has three teams ranked in this week’s Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

After disappointing losses to Wisconsin and Minnesota, Michigan State Basketball was able to remain in the top-25 of the AP Poll, but they did not receive the same fate in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

Despite a win against Nebraska in conference play, MSU was bounced out of the Coaches Poll after being at No. 18 last week. The Spartans still received the third most votes of teams not in the top-25 with 59. That puts them just in front of Ohio State (58 votes) and right behind Northwestern (64).

Michigan State will be able to quickly re-enter the top-25 if they can knock off No. 14 Rutgers on Tuesday night.
