Fernando Tatis Jr. practically jogged on his way to the easiest steal of home ever

This was too easy.

Stealing home is always thrilling, whether it’s due to an amazing slide to avoid a tag or a pitcher not checking on the runner at third enough.

The latter appears to be the issue with what we saw on Wednesday night with Fernando Tatis Jr.’s steal of home, one of the easiest swipes of the bag you’ll ever see.

Cionel Perez was on the mound for the Baltimore Orioles, and Tatis was on third in the seventh inning with two outs. Perez didn’t really look Tatis’s way, and the outfielder knew it. You’ll see him kind of start jogging before turning on the jets and make it home before Perez even knew what was happening.

WOW. Here’s a take from Tatis’ San Diego Padres teammate Blake Snell:

Fernando Tatis danced when Cubs fans chanted ‘he’s on steroids’ and it’s such a vibe

Fernando Tatis Jr. doesn’t care about your silly chants, Cubs fans

Fernando Tatis Jr. has taken a whole bunch of trash talk from a whole bunch of people over the last year.

Obviously, the dude was dinged by Major League Baseball for taking steroids in 2022. He was suspended by the league for 80 games after being caught with a banned substance in his system.

We were all shocked and disappointed by it. Nobody wants to see anyone cheating the system — especially one of the best players in baseball. But it happened. The Padres issued a statement on it. Tatis accepted it.

But not everyone is apparently ready to move on. A minor league pitcher called Tatis a cheater after he hit a homerun during a rehab assignment. And, now, you’ve even got Cubs fans coming at him.

During a Padres matchup against Tatis, fans began chanting “cheater” at him while he was in the outfield. It was extremely petty.

But Tatis didn’t care. The dude just started vibing out and dancing. It was hilarious.

My guy was having a great time, man.

Good for him, man. Enough is enough. He got caught. He didn’t win anything and he also didn’t play baseball. He’s done his time and paid the price. We can all move on now.

Besides, Cubs fans have some nerve. Isn’t Sammy Sosa their guy? We can’t pick and choose who we like and don’t like for this stuff. That’s not how this works.

Anyway, shoutout to Tatis. Hope he has a great season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two home runs against the Dodgers on the same day his father did 22 years ago

April 23rd is Fernando Tatis day

Every once in a while we get these sort of inexplicable occurrences in Major League Baseball that we can only chalk up to the Baseball Gods shining down on us.

We got one of those occurrences on Friday. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two home runs against the Dodgers in the Padres’ game on April 23rd. Normally, that’s not all that interesting.

Yes, home runs are cool! But it’s Fernando Tatis Jr. He’s a whole superstar. This is just what he does.

But it turns out that these home runs were absolutely special. On April 23rd, 1999 Tatis Sr. famously hit two grand slams against the Dodgers while playing with the Cardinals. Tatis Jr. was 111 days old when he did it, per ESPN.

22 years later, here’s Tatis Jr. making a bit of magic of his own against the Dodgers.

Here are the homers from his dad.

Just an incredible moment. That’s so special. The baseball gods were really shining down.

Looks like April 23rd is Fernando Tatis day, indeed.
