Flava Flav’s long national anthem before a Bucks game had NBA fans making Fergie jokes

Was this really as bad as Fergie’s national anthem???

Remember when Fergie sang The Star Spangled Banner before the NBA All-Star Game in 2017 and everyone mocked it?

Well, it’s 2023, and the legendary Flava Flav gave us a national anthem before a Milwaukee Bucks game on Sunday that saw Fergie’s name trending on X afterwards.

I’m here to say that this anthem honestly isn’t that bad! It’s got quite an ending and maybe he took his time, but … this is really not as bad as Fergie’s.

It didn’t matter. He got ripped by fans everywhere and the Fergie talk was all over the place. Here’s a sampling of it all:

Fans are out here wrongly comparing Conan Gray’s pre-Home Run Derby national anthem to Fergie’s

Was Conan Gray’s national anthem REALLY that bad?

OK, look: The Star-Spangled Banner is very, very hard to sing.

It starts really low and ends really high “land of the free.” It’s got a lot of lyrics to remember. In short, I’m always impressed by people who perform it at huge events.

Conan Gray — who is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter — was at Dodger Stadium, singing the United States’ national anthem before the Home Run Derby … and there were a lot of critics out there.

There were a lot of people comparing his anthem to the one Fergie did before the 2018 NBA All-Star Game that got ridiculed and remixed … and I’m here to say that’s not right! Fergie’s was way over the top. Gray’s had some rough moments, but once he got into it, he did fine!

NBA fans were not fans of Chaka Khan’s national anthem performance at All-Star Game

This reminded everyone of Fergie’s legendary performance a few years ago.

The NBA All-Star Game is in Chicago so they had the legendary Chaka Khan sing the national anthem before tip off and, well, it was something.

A lot of fans were not exactly fans of Chaka Khan’s rendition, with many bringing up that unforgettable – for all the wrong reasons – performance by Fergie at the All-Star Game in Los Angeles a few years ago.

Jennifer Hudson kicked off the pregame festivities with an emotional tribute to Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant.

Then Common did an excellent job of celebrating Chicago’s basketball history while introducing the players.

And then Chaka Khan sang the anthem…
