Oklahoma State’s facilities plan is ‘unrivaled’ per AD Chad Weiberg

OSU’s plan is unrivaled according to AD Chad Weiberg.

It seems as though everywhere you turn in college athletics, new facilities, and upgrades are among the top priorities for decision-makers.

This helps with enhancing athletic performances and enticing high school recruits to come to your university or college. Oklahoma State is no different, they have to find a way to battle the top programs in the country. NIL deals can certainly help but that is only part of the puzzle.

Oklahoma State athletic director Chad Weiberg believes that his plan will help give the Cowboys an edge.

“This vision plan provides a road map for the next phase of an athletic village that will be unrivaled in college sports,” Weiberg stated in a presentation according to The Oklahoman.

The total cost for this facilities play is $325 million. According to the report, a new softball stadium, indoor track and field complex, basketball and wrestling practice facilities, and upgrades to Boone Pickens Stadium are among the projects that would be addressed.

Obviously addressing each one of the projects listed simultaneously would be impossible. Weiberg stated that the order in which they are addressed is completely up to the Oklahoma State University donors.

“That is part of why we wanted to put the whole road map out in front of the family,” Weiberg continued. “The athletic department didn’t want to be the ones determining the priority. We didn’t want to be the ones determining the speed or timeline. The priority, the timeline, that will all be set by our supporters and their willingness to step up and help make these projects possible.”
